So it finally happened. Yeah, I'd known this guy since freshmen year. We're in the same major and what not and have a ton in common, like roleplaying and strange obsessions with things. Anyway, so we've known each other about 3 years now and this year especially we've talked mroe and more. Tonight we talking about our 3D models from class, he did his dragon Izzy, and we were talking about how important Izzy was to him and whatnot, and I said I kinda knew what he meant.

Then he finally got around to saying that Izzy is basically him. Which led to me asking if he thought of himself as that spiritually, and then he asked if I knew what an otherkin was. Yay! A fellow kin that I know in person.

He's a dragonkin, but that's fine with me. At least I know one in person now. It's literally a first for both of us.

Awesome!
When I tried to tell someone, they thought it was a joke and laughed, proceeding to call me stupid.
I'm not stupid, I am just arrogant and impulsive...

Well...telling other people you're any form or type of otherkin is difficult enough. It was just strange how we were kinda drawn to each other anyway, and then we both sorta just came out with it. We both said that we had an idea that the other might be...haha.

But yeah...I've never had anyone laugh at me...but I've only told a couple people to begin with in RL, and one is my girlfriend. She was totally cool with it, but she has to be cause I don't give her s**t for being an atheist and not believing in anything at all.

Being accepted doesn't mean that someone will give acceptance.

There's a lot of hatefull people in the world who expect their own beliefs to be above persecution, yet feel free to bash away at everyone else.

[I edited what I wrote due to the fact that I think it was written kinda mean at first]

You've made a good point...however it doesn't really have much to do with what I said, since you quoted me.

If you could possibly clarify why you said that in response to what I said that would probably help.

But yeah, I was merely being sarcastic in a sense when I was talking about my girlfriend, not to mention that I really have only told my absolute closest friends, so acceptance isn't an issue in either way.

that happened to me today. 4/20/07. its weird cause i actually meet two otherkin/therian who actualyl know each other. which means we all know each othe rbut never knew we were kin. like one kid found out about otherkin from me and i think he just thinks the idea of otherkin is cool so he's kinda poserkin. the other friend of mine, if the information he told me is true, has a pretty big chance in my opinion, of being therian. Congrats on you and your friend!

That's so awesome. That's never happened to me before, but there are a few people I think might be Otherkin of some sort.

I also have a lot of OtherKin friends. I knew around 10 in high school, (we had an occult council that met in the history room)and now I'm part of a toronto otherkin meetup group. I'd say about 95% of the people I am friends with are OtherKin.

Even those who are excluded like to exclude others.
