Ok, so use this sticky to make any suggestions you might have about how to improve the guild.

Specifically, if you have any ideas for a contest that we could do, of any kind, that would be great.

Also if you think there's something else that could be changed, feel free to let us know.

Or, if you just want to say how much you may or may not love the Canadian Guild, that's fine too.

1] revise the member list (removal of the inactive).
2] increase activity in guild: promotional campaigns = new/more active members
3] contests: city, provincial and canadian banner contest
4] canadian current events (news)

DGK, I like your ideas, but I'm not sure they would work here. Not now, anyways. It's taken us over two years just to get provincial representatives. Provincial banners are craaaazy!! Banners for cities?! I see where that would go. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver get themselves pretty little banners, while everyone else suffers in an illustration-less city. Also, we do not want to remove the inactive members, since we're trying to get the guild back up to the top. What's the point of removing them, anyways? I sure wouldn't like to be banned from a guild for no good reason.

I like the current events idea, though. That could really go somewhere. And not just Canadian, elsewhere too. Big news in the US. Like the huge 33-victim shooting in Virginia, yesterday. That is some nasty stuff everyone should be aware of.

My suggestion lies in the Home Page, Ahab. You have got to do something about that. And also, I'd like to see a Political subforum, or a Debates subforum. Some of us really like to debate. Oh! We already have a Chatterbox, but what about a GD and ED? Aw, that'd be so cool. ^.^ Except.. don't be too quick to add another two subforums. Maybe replace the two useless ones we've got, since we can't delete them, and having fifteen subforums is ugly.

I like the current events idea.

Especially since I'm a Journalism major.
Seems like quite a bit of a time investment to do that, but it's probably doable.

Playoff contest?

Everyone pays a fee(say 500g), you put that in the pot, we pick the teams that will move in in the rounds, and who's ever team wins the Cup, they get the money from the pot?

(This is being done in another guild I'm in, so I know it works)

How about an avitar contest? Canada themed? Could be a fun way. Entice new users.

2

To try and get new users - how about we post a thread related to Canada in each of the big forums. Not blatant like "ALL CANADIANS HERE"... but you know. Obvious enough. Canadians who actively reply could be invited to join the guild. I didn't know about the guild until I was invited...

My brain is kind of dead right now, but in reply to everyone else's ideas...

-banners: maybe Canadian and provincial, but not cities. :/
-current events: yay! :'D
-home page: it's so-so at the moment, might want to get other stuff done before fixing it, though. :3
-subforums: GD could actually fit in the CB. And apparently, I've heard, that the ED isn't doing too well, either, so you could probably fit it all in the CB. o___o; Maybe the political and debate subforums could replace the QA and questing, or something?
-contest: Any contest is good. ;___;

I think that one of you lovely moddish people should consider (when you have free time, LOL) should go through the earlier pages of the memberlist and send a PM to people who have never posted, reminding them that they are, in fact a member of this guild, and invite them to become an active member. *shrugs* Just my two cents. It'll be a huge project, for sure.

Whaaa, that's actually a really good idea! 0_0 I could get on that, sometime soon. If the ole Ahab agrees.

Oh, that made me think of something else. You know that member directory thing? I think that it should either be updated, or deleted. I can't even figure out what it's for, and some people who joined a long time ago aren't on there. o:

I agree, for sure! It seems like too big a task to manage effectively if we want to be one of the largest guilds on Gaia. That's what the point of the Provincial Threads is anyways, right?

That's exactly what I was thinking. x'D

Now, listen here, you two! I've put days into that stupid sticky, and it's not going anywhere! mad

I'll update it.

If you're actually going to keep on doing it, maybe you should get people to say their city when they join, or something? I don't know. It just seems so complicated. :/

Oh, you mean in the Join Requests? That's not a bad idea. Except.. not everyone would do it, so we'd have a bunch of people left. It's actually not that complicated. I have a new tab open for every province, and one for the Introductions sticky. (And one for Google, for the idiots who give me a random city with no province.) So I just go down the list of introductions and put them into each separate tab. Not so bad. But long. I still have six pages left.
