I was the kid that once said I'd collect all of the Beanie Babies out there, but was quickly told that I couldn't by my mom since there were so many.

Now, I just settle for getting any dog Beanie Babies out there. I have a bunch.

When I was younger, every time I got a new Beanie Baby, I'd go and take down all of my Beanies and arrange them in a circle on the floor (or nearest clear space), and then I'd put the new 'arrival' in the middle of the circle, and leave them to 'introduce themselves'. It was quite fun, believing that they would talk to it once I had left the room.

I don't even know how many I have. I have my favorites (which weren't kept nice sweatdrop ) but I got into arguments with classmates over some...I have two Flutter the Butterflys (weren't kept nice sweatdrop sweatdrop ) and no one believed that they were actual Beanie Babies because the cloth tag was generic...it was from the first (or second) release...before Ty started marking the cloth tags with the Ty heart logo or writing Beanie Babies on them. I do have three Speedy the Turtles (which is the same release group as Flutter and one is still nice because a friend gave me his a few years ago). I also have some of the mistakes...the chameleon with the iguana colors and the iguana with the chameleon colors and an original Lucky the Ladybug, with the defective glued on spots that fell off (mine's spots were completely gone when I bought it). I also have one of the rare Sting the Manta Rays...which was recalled due to a design flaw (mine's not so nice anymore, but the design flaw never occured with it). The set of Beanies I would love to get my hands on was a Japan only release (these sold out in a few hours in Japan)...Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidra. I saw a kiosk selling the set for $500...included in the set was all three Beanies, an original Japanese Godzilla movie poster, and a Japanese Godzilla ticket stub.

I found it amazing the rare ones you could stumble across in out of the way vacation spots. There's a tiny town in the northern most spot in Michigan...mostly people up there live off tourism, but there's not many tourists that would go there unless they're roadtripping...and I found in a dusty corner of my hotel's giftshop a few of the originals. eek We're talking third and fourth release groups. And they're just sitting there gathering dust!
