Reason for joining the Guild: I'm interested in discussing homeschooling methods, and talking to people who have been homeschooled, or simply support homeschooling.
Other: Glad to be here! I personally have not been homeschooled, but I always wanted to be. My experiences with the public school system have been dismal the majority of the time. Aftering switching schools a handful of times, I dropped out for a year and a half, before finally enrolling myself in to a small arts school. After finally being allowed to work at my own pace, I realized I loved all subjects, even math and science, which I had previously hated. [Bad teachers coupled with lack of interraction/apathetic teaching style] I plan at being a stay-at-home-mom whenever I have children, and I'd really love to homeschool them for as long as possible. I believe children learn much better when allowed to explore their education, work at their own pace, and learn as a whole, instead of segmented "classroom" style learning, where each subject is taught completely seperate from every other subject. And I definitely do NOT buy in to that bullcrap about children not "socializing" properly when homeschooled.

Interests: My three mains are web and graphic design, and philosophy. I also love to do small "craft" projects, such as beadwork, macrame, and paper sculpture.
Areas of expertise: I don't think I'm really an expert on anything, but I can maybe offer opinions on things.
Reason for joining the Guild: Well, I saw a link to the guild in the Captain's Guild, and decided I'd check it out. After reading the link sticky, I came to a kinda scary realization- my mom and Grace Llewelynn were good friends and worked together to make Oregon's homeschoolers a well-run and organized...well...organization. It's kinda weird to realize that she's famous now. o.O; I was homeschooled my entire life, and I guess "graduating" doesn't really mean I have to completely remove myself from it. The idea is still very interesting to me.

Interests: Painting, playing cello/piano/electric bass, orchestra program *gasp* outside of the school system, making indie films, reading fantasy books, writing, drawing cartoony things.
Areas of expertise: I'm not an expert, but I guess I know quite a bit about lots of things. music, paganism, crazy vegterian hippe activists who look at you funny for drinking starbucks at their meetings.
Reason for joining the Guild: I wanted to inform people who don't know about other forms of education, since one of my threads proved that there are lots of people here who don't understand, meeting different kinds of homeschoolers (even though I know tons of them IRL.) , having disscustions.(whoa.....spelt so wrong.)
Other: I've been through four different ways of learning, public school, homeschool, unschooling, and democratic school. (a real school, as in , a building with many other people.)
