Have you played Freestyle or real D&D?
Freestyle's all I've ever done actually...
  1st Edition baby!
2nd Edition works out all the kinks and is the best.
  What's 3rd Edition???
3.5 Edition basically overrides the exhistance of 3rd edition. W00t for 3.5!
Never played any of them, but I'd definetly like to try.
  Never have, never will. :/

So I'd like everyone to insert there characters here first.

Try to keep the races semi-basic, (but now I know what an Inu is) but as long as you provide a description to an unfamiliar race (or leave it for explanation at a later time), we should be good.

Question is:
How many people do I allow?

and

Who wants to dm?

I'll dm if necessary, but if someone else is up to it, pm me, or post here, and we can see what we can do.
Of course- we'll have to wait for summer to get this going.

HOWEVER!

There will be power caps! If you decide you want an insanely powerful attribute- there will be kinks in it in order for you not to have a tremendous advantage over the rest.

^-^
Anywho, the important thing is to get your characters up here and I'll decide the rest later.

*raises hand* I'll be a DM! I've Dm'd for 3 years for a group of friends at school. And recently i made a custom campainge but its probably not that great. sweatdrop And also i'm not sure what freestyle Dnd is, but i have a online character sheet maker for 3.5. You choose race, level, class, weapons, etc. Works out pretty good each time I use it for Npc's or whatever. whee

I dont get you exactly. So can I post my character up here or how do you want it? My character is a lv 9 human rogue/fighter, but me and my friends have a rule where after lv 7, you become a gestalt character with a base class plus a prestige class every level. please PM me. sweatdrop

also, shyguy, can you post a link to the file or something to use that online character sheet? I do all of my stuff pencil paper and I dont have a scanner.

wait, I am afraid I dont get what you mean. sweatdrop
do you mean by making my character too good? I will lower his level and take off his gestalt status if that is what is necessary. I just want to have fun like everyone else. I just hate being a weak, low-level character. I fought so hard to level up. lol.

Err I got two questions sweatdrop
I've never played any D&D at all, well there was this ONE game that took all of five minutes and I didn't really know what I was doing, just sitting in for a guy so his buddies could continue, anyways.
This is gonna have rules right? Because I remember from my good ol' high school days of some kids RPing, but all they did was basically, "If I roll a 3-6 I kill the huge fifty foot squid." And that was it for rules, no boards or anything.
So let's say your a D&D noob (p.s. that's me) and don't know hardly anything at all about D&D, how it's played what are the rules etc. Where would I go?

And now for a final bonus question, sorry, I miscounted :3 I looked at the char sheet you were nice enough to post and I can't help but fell there's a race/class missing..... :3
Hint: It has to do with height :p
Basically is this gonna be a normal D&D game....or are you/we (not sure on the correct possesive there) gonna give it a guild flair?

I'll totally play, but I can't post a character (unless you guys wanna see just one of my old ones) until I know more about the campaign itself.

I.E.... It'd be nice to know what level we're starting out. What the starting setting is, and what everyone else plans to play. Because it'll be really awkward if one of us is level 7, another is level 3, and another is like 4 or 5. It'd prolly be best if we all made new characters before playing.

I dont think that is the essence of freestyle DnD. I think that it is just whatever. I DO NOT want to sit and be lectured on the rules ESPECIALLY not over the internet. If it cant be a friendly fun game then I am out. Seriously, man, if you have giant women who can pretty much rip up whatever they want and have an ECL of over 15 at least anyway (using existing ECL's for very large giants), I dont see how level can really even be applicable without some extensive retooling of the way scenarios are made.

I mean, to be completely honest, I do not want to be a level one character. It's slow, and people die way too fast after small mistakes. But I dont want to be an epic character either, just so that I can exist in a quest with a giantess. I am not trying to be bickery here but I just think that this needs further exploration as a topic. Perhaps if Pearl S. would clarify her original idea, that might help?

Edit: That first paragraph is really unclear. I dont know that levels with be the biggest of concerns in this style of play. Granted, I have played and I know what happens when you have unbalanced character parties; it is too easy for some and others are in far too much danger. I just think that it is up to the DM to find some way of balancing encounters, perhaps by dividing battles into parts or accentuating characters specialties.

Also, please dont misunderstand, I am totally willing to create a new character or make my old character again at a different level. I just want us to be at some kind of consensus before I go and do that. Damn, I talk alot. sweatdrop

Scratch the freestyle part of it, everyone will be starting out at lvl 1 w. basics. There will be a gold count, hp shall be kept track of ,and most importantly- Dice shall be used! ^_^;
I'm thrilled, really.

The only thing "Freestyle" about it, is that I'll be adding a lot of m&m stuff into it.
Plus- additional spells and races to make things more interesting.

Aww man! gonk I hate being level one... even with gold? That limits story possibilties (i.e. why would nobles start out with crap equipment?) but eh waht can I say? Nothing so there. Damn, foiled again. I will have to see how it goes, as I dont know if I want to invest time at the bottom of the ladder. Maybe I will make a new character... or maybe I wont.
Oh well. If this is indeed the will of the Council, then Gondor will see it done.

Easy for the nobles thing. Disgraced noble, or son/daughter of a disgraced noble. ^-^

I know that, but what if you want to be a noble of upstanding or at least favorable status?

Also, it is hard to justify being a lawful rogue if you have no money, heh.

Yar, I see what you're saying. Honestly, that's just one of those things you've gotta either talk to the DM about, or be willing to compromise. A lawful rogue with no money? Robin Hood-esque. As for the noble of upstanding or favorable status? That's something that just might not be doable.
