Since it's not open yet, here is an idea chat, if you have any advice on hosting a rp, please post it or if you have any ideas or questions.

*puts on a tunxston steel helmet to avoid a headbite by chupi*

xenos comunacate via telapathy. each xeno has a little brain node in the back of their head that allows for comunacaction (i noticed this was also incorporated in avp1 and 2. if you shot off the back of their head they typicaly wondered around like a spaz and were less effective in groups.)

they also see with a sort of scent vishion. on the frontal lobe of their "skull" are extrasensory glands that act as sort of sent eyes. they can see sort of like humans can, but anything that produces a scent is kinda glowy and all appatizing. anything that dosn't produce pheramones is kinda grey and dull and they asume it's some sort of terrain. well the grunts do i'm not entirely sure about alphas.

ok thanks, I've already gotten an answer from chupi but I was wandering, do you think I should or shouldn't incorporate special species into the rp that have adaptede to the planet? check the poll for your answer. If you don't understand post, I'll try to explain, or ideas.

PostPosted: Mon Apr 30, 2007 5:05 pm

i've probably made more RPs than i care to count.... lost count a while ago... and yes i actually kept count. lost count at 487 successful RPs.

probably want a good story, most people care about the story you have set up. as well the various RPers you recruit. but know your stuff, always contenue with research to further the RP experance by looking up new informaction every time you post.

I've been working on a story, but until I find out small things like, what will the playable characters be, how big a hive, custom breeds or not/ how many. So check if this is ever updated by me, it's probably a question or something like that. Like right now heres a question, based on just the rough sketches, do they resemble faint to moderate xenos?

My one suggestion... Try not to make the drone breeds too... Out there. Afterall, the classic drones of Alien and Aliens came from humans, the runner of Alien3 came from a dog/ox, depending on which version of the film you watch. (The director's cut is so much better. I hate the theatrical release, but love that more than Aliens.)

And knight, I really want to know where you get your information. @_@ It's just about always in such confliction with what I've read in the comics/novels, and what I've seen in the two Aliens vs Predator PC games. (One of the many functions of their heads is basically sending/recieving radiowaves of sorts according to the video games, which actually gets supported by Aliens: Rogue when Kleist discovers the queen and rogue are communicating with each other through a radiowave frequency, though it can't be understood what they're saying obviously. He was excited because at that time, it was the first time they had been given a glimpse at how xenomorphs communicate aside from pheramones.) ... And you couldn't shoot off the backs of heads in any AvP games. The head worked as one whole unit in them, if you used a weapon that clipped removable parts off on the head then the entire thing came off no matter where you hit it, even if you just barely got an edge. Last I knew the only actual glimpse we got of the xenomorph's brain that went into details about it was in Labyrinth, in which Colonel Doctor Church pointed at an organ in the front of the skull that was seperate from the brain he theorized was their "psychic reciever." Though Labyrinth must have its information taken with great skepticism because a few things in it were horribly illogical, and even contredictory to other books and games. Here's the debated purpose of the organ:

C.D. Church: I think it's the alien psychic reciever. The fullerite and hurlantium pick up E-waves and the binary fans create interference patterns from electromagnetic fields.
C.D. Crespi: So it would not only recieve brainwaves but enable the alien to assess another animal's physical characteristics by seeing its subtle body.
C.D. Church: Exactly! That's why strong electromagnetic fields really affect aliens... Gives 'em the equivilant of an ice-cream headache.
C.D. Crespi: I'll remember that.
C.D. Church: Now, you can see that this thing has withered. In healthy specimens it's more bulbous, fills the cavity tightly. But in a languishing captive, it atrophies.
C.D. Crespi: Which could explain why the crewman under the influence of telepathine was able to affect the alien's behavior!
C.D. Church: Exactly.

i get a lot of my info from games, and scientific chat sights >< i get some from books, and i try and avoid newer movies, thus sticking with the older ones. also get a lot of it from officail websights.

the whole shooting off the back of the head was a specail mod for avp1. belive it was called the fuze mod. it took info from books, movies, and comics and compiled them into the game for more realistic play.

I've updated some of the images, check them out if you like. Please remember that the vegetation like spines resemble local flora, perfect for camo. The more they have the probablility of it needing to hide more often.

To be honest, I dunno about any of the "custom breeds" you've got going. @_@ Especially when it comes to the "desert facehugger" and "king." There's no real concievable reason for either to exist, and in the hsitory of AvP the only king to ever appear was an action figure. (The rogue doesn't count for three reasons. A: It was completely man-made. B: It in no way got along with the hive or any other xenomorphs. It even had pink-red blood... And C: It was far from any sort of king.) Then the praetorians... Praetorians don't become queens, or anything for that matter. They're the final stage, the pinnacle of the hive heirarchy aside form the queen herself. The only time it has ever been suggested otherwise was in AvP: Extinction, which blatantly contredicted everything AvP constantly with all three species involved. Hell, queens can only be born queens or come from males. And when you look at things logically taking into consideration the brutalities of being a male drone, it seems likely that the praetorians would all be neuters to keep them protected from the rampaging wars that occasionally take place between males.

True, but the're are some reasons for them, I haven't put up their roles yet, Thats what I was forgetting gonk , All of this is up for debate though, If enough people don't like it when I've got most of the info on the reasons is up, then I'll take them down. I wasn't really sure how the queen came to be in a hive, I just made it by the only resource I had, Extinction, it also helps simplify it a bit. The kings role is to lure queens from other hives if their are no pratorians or queen. When the qeen lays eggs and a pratorian if hatched after a sutable host has been made for the facehugger, the king make a suicidal attack in which the queen and it dies, were the pratorian then becomes a queen. It's kinda complicated but this world has numerous hives and must have ways to compensate in certain areas. The facehugger hides in the sand and the spines are the base food for native non-xeno lifeforms, this way more xenos can come from less facehuggers. Also since I got comformation about the whole psionic like comuniction, I decided that the sidetracker is really tallented in psionics, it can create mirages and things like that, no levitation or anyof that. The Adv. Queen is the head of the offensive force of a hive, serving under a normal queen. The sidetracker is normally a strategist though. These are just thought though. (wow thats allot of righting, ... Ow, wrist cramp *falls on flour holding hand*, ouch, ouch. Hello their spider thing, hey wait your a facehug..., *passes out*) Wow that was random sweatdrop

I'm going to cut out the images of the shredder and mutilated, they'll still be in the RP, but you get the idea of what they look like, also, I want to revize the King model, any suggestions? (Remember, the Kings role is to lure queens, so It would have to somehow be attractive to a queen, maybe chocolates?)
