THE Classic which is the best system all differs on what you like to play.

both ps3 and the 360 have their strong points here are some examples

-PS3 is more for the high end gammer if you want to just play games on your console then stick with the 360. but if you want to watch movies and get all the upgrades for you 360 a PS3 is acctually cheaper.
-Both have online buying markets as well as the Wii but the 360 one looks depressing at best and has an annoying points system for buying stuff where the PS3's online shopping system is a little more complicated but looks better and the cash system is simple.
-Graphicly both systems are equal right now in the future PS3 will pass the 360 but that wont be for at least a year when games like killzone 2 come out.
-For online communication the PS3 wins hands down. To talk to someone you use your headset just like the 360, but unlike the 360 the PS3 has higher quality and lower communication drop rates(yes it happens sometimes).
-For controllers the 360 wins. Even though you can pick up the controllers and find very little difference between them Microsoft setup 4 Channels for the controllers to hook up with the PS3's can sometimes loose connection and there's no vibrate on the PS3 controller.
-Both systems are good for long usage times now
-The game silection right now is weighed much more infavour of the 360 but that's only because of time issues. Give the PS3 time and you'll be fine.
-If you want to play Halo then the choice is clear 360 if you want to play metal gear, FF, devil may cry or any of the other PS games then go PS3.
-If you want to buy a multi media entertainment center than go with the PS3 cause it runs in HD video and audio where ther 360 only does HD video.

Hope that helps a little.

I would say that the 360 wins overall. Yes, the PS3 has its strongpoints, but Sony hasnt had that good of a track record with consoles. The game developers hate the PS3's new cell processor with a passion. This will make for a much higher library of games for the 360. The graphics for the PS3 are only slightly better than that of the 360. Not to mention the fact that you can buy two 360's for the price of one PS3. Both systems had a craptacular launch so that cant be debated. However. It is for the most part about what games you want to specifically play. Witha the obvious exception of FF. People seem to forget the FF11 re-release for the 360.
So if you take away the factor of game differentials you can clearly see how superior the 360 really is.

so true... well not everyone knows about it... until you think about it Because Xbox 360 is like a computer, so you can turn it off by using the control now that is tight!

My personal preference is the 360, but frankly I don't see much difference between both consoles if you're just out to play good games, but the 360 did come out earlier (by a year) and has better controls, although the PS3 does have superior graphics (in SOME games). I really can't get used to the PS3 no matter how many times I play it, and the 360 is simple and easy to operate and make your way around. :3 *hugs my 360*

And plus, recently my 360 had some problems reading some games (I admit, I dropped it on the floor by accident :S.... It was just a bump, really!) so I called in to get it repaired by the Xbox company, but the warranty had literally just expired a week before I had called. So I told them that I had been studying for finals and that it had actually broken down 2 weeks before (This is true! I know some of you are looking at the screen suspiciously, but I'm not joking here), so the guy on the phone said no problem and that they would fix it under the warranty. Little things like that just make me want to hug Xbox. ^.^

PS3 it's superior because of its technology... But there are no good games for it. So what's the point of having a GAME system that does not serve the purpose stated by its name?

If I were to buy a system I will go for a 360, just because it has decent games that i would like to check out... Screw the wii; maybe in the future I will change my mind but for now I this is how I stand. biggrin

The PS3 really seemed to push to far tech wise. Even now most home computers don't have more then two processor cores, let alone eight or so SPUs of the Cell. Only in the last year or so have the multi-processor multi-core machines taken off for the high-end users. Intel only go their 4-core chip on the market in the last production cycle. It'll be a few years before the programming world catches up with the internal hardware. Look at the problems facing 64 bit Vista users.

High tech is only good if it can actually be used for what it what it was intended to do. A game machine that is good at crunching complex scientific equations is no good if no one can program games for it.

The PS3 is going to hit its stride late in generation and by that time it's super technology will be on par or obsolete. Look five years down the road. Can the PS3 compete with anything that's built between now and then? In five years I expect to see built in or accessory Mini-LED projectors which will make a 40' plasma screen look like joke for video games(not necessarily in visual detail but in utility), especial social events.

I think Nintendo called it pretty good this time. The 360 is an alliterative to the Gaming PC not a game console. In five years Nintendo will launch there next console, still be in the black, and ready to take advantage of new technologies. I just can't see the Xbox360 or PS3 being replaced by 2011.

the wii does that too, and in differ every console has week points

weak:
360:

bad arcade downloads
big
lacks fun for younger gamers
wii:
