Captain Mercutio Cross grips the railing tightly then flings back an arm of warning to his crew*.....Steady lads..... she may look fierece..... and she is... but what she has in guns we have in experience speed and balls!... er.... right... and er figurativly fer you Maddie *his first officer lets out a harumph and shouts to a few of the men to stop slacking off.. Cross peers again through his spyglass at the aproaching Ship of the Line.... The Ardent... She had been persueing Cross and the Ravenwolf for quirte some time now but they had managed to evade her until now.... but here in the streights? this was much rougher territory.....* ..er... right... step lively men.. we'll get through this...... so long as the wind is in our favour

*a man watches the ship not quite on the horizon...... his hand rests on the gilted handel of his officers saber as he peers out into the misty sea... he knew the comparitivly light-weight schooner could easily out run them, but he was counting on the tretcurous passes of the streights of Gebralter to buy him some time to bring the Ardent's 45 gun broadside to bear... this was, all in all, a bit of overkill but seeing as no man or ship had ever slipped through his fingers since he was given his comission once let alone 3 times he was not going to give him any chances... even if he failed to catch up to Cross and his band of miscreants.... The Crucible and the Gallaway should close him in from the otherside... the man smiles to himself..... no man.... no pirate would forever beable to escape the grasp of Captain Horatio Harrington Hunt.*

*the Ravenwolf speeds ahead, her narrow hull cutting through the water like a hot knife through butter... they were reaching the mouth of the streights and the open see..... Cross very nearly gave a sigh of relief but then he noticed a faint spot on the horizon, prompting him to bring his spyglass to bare* Oooooh...bugger. *two tall ships on the horizon, smaller than the one chaseing the 'Wolf to be sure... but still too much for the lightly armed ship to handel head on. Cross swings his biew back to the chasing ship.... the commander had done well to catch him here, he would give him that.... He then turns the glass back to the dots on the horizon.... noteing their movements. They were advancing.. but slowly, tacking into the same wind that was pusing the Ravenwolf away from the Ship of the Line... Cross snaps his spyglass closed and smiles. The commander had done well.. not well enough.* Miss DuPont! *He calls out to his first mate who shouts an "aye?" back in her crisp french accent* Our extra ordenance... er.... dump it.
"QUOI??"
He points out to the horizon* See those two black specs out there? now those would be english navel vessels.. not unlike the one behind us... now we could keep our store o' roundshot, meet up with th'enemy vessl's and probably ne'er get the chance to reload..... *he pauses whatching Maddie's face redden until she finally blurts out*
"Orr??"
Ooor.... we could lose the roundshot, lighten our load, and slip them by...
"but the strreights are too narrow!!"
Right.. but that says we're still in the streights when we give them th'slip
*he hands her the spyglass and points out their zig-zagging movements*
"Saint Merrd!" *she smiles then puts on her "tough face" and turns to the crew* "All rright you miserrable backsides! Get rid of all of the Orrdinance!! Captain's Orrderrs!"
*the crew hops-to as Cross nods at them and the set about dumping the ships extra cannonballs*

"Captain!"
*Leftenant Poorly moves up to Hunt and hands him a spyglass... which hunt unquestioningly takes .... he centers his view on the ship... and notes Cross moveing about the deck..... and that his men appeared to be dumping munitions over the side........ he smiles knowing that the Gallaway and the Crucible were waiting to close him in his gaze switching slightly.... the two ships were visible in the distance..... but their movement... * STEADY ON!
*Hunt storms to the stern of the ship and orders them to load the Falconettes*
As soon as we are in range.. fire! Aim for their sails! Cut their speed!!
*he shouts, not in a panic, but with great urgency..... but to no avail.... the falconettes fire but the shots only make harmless splashes. Hunt growels and slams his fist on the railing.... hopeing the Gallaway and Crucible would at least be able to get in a good volly..... but it was doubtfull..... the Schooner was already manoeuvering to make a wide circle.... and at this rate the Ardent could not catchup... even with the shift in direction. He turns to Leftenant Poorly and tells him to keep the ship on course...... He, needed a drink*
((NOTE: I do realise that its "Liutenant" either way... but I find that this spelling renders it easier for those without an indepth knowlege of ranking pronounciation))

*Coss directs his helmsman and watches as the other 2 ships become closer and closer...... *Keep wide! those guns arn't just for show.. keep to the coast! *the ship movved erring towards the african coastline as the streights widened..... there were some white puffs of smoke from one of the english vessles.. but the shots all fell short.... it made cross feel rather better about loseing all of that good iron...
Once clear ogf the ships he turns to Mr. Chapmen at the helm* Set a course for Tenariefe.. from there we'll head for Tortuga..
"Tortuga ser?"
*Cross Nods&... if he can chase us into, and out of th'Medeteranian, why don't we see if he'll cross the bloody ocean.
"I'd rather 'e didn't follow us no'wheres.."
Aye... but where's the fun in that?
*cross leaves the question as rhetorical and heads back to his cabin... laying down in his bunk and watching the blue sky blinking as it becomes red*
*Exit Cross to Guest Rooms*
*2 Captains at the Streights of Gibralter End*
