I don't think I'm the only one who has been having this issue, so for those of you who can, please help us poor little 'n00bs'!

The question/issue is: Where do you *begin* when learning about spirituality?

And specifically for me: Those of you who are Pagan, or know someone who is Pagan, where did you/they begin when they first began studying?

I have been to *so* many websites, and everytime I go to the books store, I am *so* overwhelmed by all the books, I'm afraid of picking something up that is 'fluffy' rubbish. I haven't been able to locate the "new age" section of th library yet (of course I haven't looked yet for fear of becoming overwhelmed yet again), so I'm not sure what is there. Any suggestions as to where to begin? Or even any reputable authors?

I feel your pain, my dear, since we are in pretty much the same boat, *hands her and oar*. I would like to know more as well, and the only name I've heard that is reliable is an author by the last name Cunningham. But my llibrary is of little help since most of their books are censored at any rate. I too am a surfer of websitess which have proved not terribly helpful.

Yes, I too have heard that Cunningham is a *wonderful* author. He's straight forward, and doesn't sugarcoat the material for the little kiddies. I've also heard, on the other hand, that Ravenwolf is supposed to be good, but I read one of her books (one that was supposed to be really really good) and it was horrible. To me, she basically is a writer of fluff for little teenagers who want magic to solve their everyday problems.

Actually, I *just* bought a book for $1.25 called "Develop your Psychic Skills" by Enid Hoffman. I haven't gotten a chance to look through it yet, but Arkham Inmate Joker was able to sift through it, and she said she didn't think I wasted any money...so we'll see about it. I'll let everyone know about it once I get through it some.

I started with a Wikipedia article on Chaos Magic. Wonderful thing Chaos Magic. The good part is that all sources are equally valid, you don't have to worry about stuff being made up. The bad part is, deconstructing and reconstructing my mind over and over again has resulted in my identity and beliefs becoming a bit blurred. I'm giving the magic a break for now. Even I'm not stupid enough to cast magic when I'm not 100% sure of who I am.

XD Rae you know I'm about at the same level you are on any of this. I'm hoping on my next day off (whenever that may be -_-; ) that we can go over to Rob and Jeff's and have them help us a bit. I can also get ahold of a few friends of mine who are Pagan and ask for author names.

That sounds spectacular! I need to get more friends myself that are around where we are. I need to find myself, so that will mean LOTS of meditating and asking for help. sweatdrop I know I can get through it though!

I have a CD that I'll let you borrow so you can put it on your pc. It's called "Fairy Music". It's more so very gentle classical that was written just for sleeping and meditation. I can help you out a lot with meditaion sense that is a big field that I know a lot of. biggrin

I'm afraid I won't be of much help

Most of my Spiritualizm comes from my uncles teachings, and a christian childhood

But as for books Most of my stuff is dealing with Laying of the Hands, Crystals, some Shamanizm, and Channeled stuff from various authors.

But I do admit that of all the crystal books I've seen, Cunninghams encyclopedia on Crystal, gem and metal magic is more accurate to my crystal experiences than some of other books I've read. It's the one I used to create the Crystal post in the Working with nature forum

That's interesting to know Thyna, maybe I'll look into picking that up on my next shopping trip to the mall. Then my Crystal Bible won't be so lonely (on or off the bookshelf) and I'll have something better to go on in that direction.

I've got a really good crystal book...but I don't remember what it was called. I really liked it because it included the chemical makeup of each crystal. I'll have to put it on here once I get all my stuff moved (June 2). Right now everything's in boxes.
