What'd you have by the end of the con? I spent most of my money on manga, like a good little fantard.
I spent $10 on Petshop, $40 on DN, and another $40 on Fake & Furuba together. I forget what the deal was at the booth where I picked up DN, but I picked up Petshop at 2/10, and Furuba & Fake at the same booth for 10/40. In all I spent $90 for 18 volumes, meaning I got them for roughly half price. The only reason I know how much I spent on DN is because I remember the prices I paid for everything else.
Petshop doesn't necessarily need to be read in order - plus I've read it all already - which is why I picked up those two volumes. DN I was lucky enough to find the next six volumes I needed in order, but the booth's stock skipped right from 8 to 12 (I think) so I passed on that because six consecutive volumes are more than enough to keep me happy. I picked up Furuba 12 because I will get to it eventually, and also because the booth I bought it from was out of Fake 4 and I needed a tenth manga to get the bargain price.
I spent the rest of my con money on sushi at Trader Joe's & a disappointing sandwich at Au Bon Pain. Plus a panda pin for my boyfriend Stef (it was a pirate panda - panda face over crossed bamboo).
Stef got me a KK plushie! Ee! For those of you who don't know, KK Slider (aka Totokeke, I believe) is a character from Animal Crossing who performs in the museum on Saturday Nights. If you've got room in your inventory, he'll give you a bootleg of the song he played, so you can add it to your music collection. If not, you can go back and he'll play for you again! Anyways, a couple weeks ago I discovered a trailer for the Animal Crossing Movie and instantly fell in love with his voice. I was already a KK fan to begin with, and the movie trailer made me even more of one. After seeing a few people wander around the con with Animal Crossing plushies - and especially after seeing the KK one - I went into total fangirl mode. But after I found the booth, I wound up spending my money on manga. Fangirl or not, I have my priorities. Thanks to the weight of the manga and the fact that I'd been walking in ways I'm not used to, my hip went out. So I sat to read manga while Stef wandered the dealer's room for artbooks. And when he came back, he had a KK plushie for me!
