I'm attempting to write a book that takes place in the late 1800s, and I was wondering what some common causes of death and diseases in those times were. If anyone knows, please tell me!

Hmmm. Childbirth was a pretty common cause of death for women. For young children (and adults, too) influenza, tuberculosis (or other similar diseases, all called consumption), um.... E. coli among the lower classes. I can't think of any other diseases.
