The Kessen series if of course also made by Koei.

Kessen 1 - Covers the Warring States period post Nobunaga's reign.
Kessen 2 - A fake bull s**t version of the Three Kingdoms.
Kessen 3 - Features the Oda reign until unification of Japan, partially fictional to the point Oda is a 'dream' after Honnoji; not dead. >.>

Still Kessen 3 in particular was a damn awesome game, 2 was good for strategy; 1 was...meh but nice FMV's.

Anyone else played 'em?

So I guess no-one plays Kessen then, shame because III in particular is a great alternate way to view the Samurai Warriors story.

I finally found a copy of Kessen III at my neighborhood EB Games/Gamestop...great, as soon as I can find the $20 to buy the got-damn game.

I played K3. I think I stopped after Inabayama because the music bored me to death. Odd reason, yes, but it just didn't have much going for it.. so neither did I.

I would love to watch the rest of the movies in the game though. I loved how unique everyone was, the voice acting was nice, and the movies were purty.

All I heard about the 2nd Kessen was that it was like a poorly written fanfic about the Rot3k period.

I hope that the next Kessen is about Hideyoshi (since they covered Ieyasu in the 1st one & Nobunaga in the 3rd one). They don't need one about Wu until maybe K5 or something, cause they have enough Rot3K games.

Yeah Kessen II sucked, it's so untrue to history it makes you sick.

Apparently Liu Bei & Cao Cao are brothers, and Liu Bei is in love with Diao Chan and all kinds of other s**t goes on in it. stressed

I found Kessen 3 hard to get into to start with, but once I did it just got better and better. But the story presentation with the unique characters etc...yeah it's brilliant. (Also somewhat used in SW: Xtreme me thinks *Looks at that Yoshimoto Imagawa*)

Okehazama was hell for me. So many horrible defeats. It's mostly because I was trying to get all the items during my first play.

Have you finished it yet? I heard that just about everything is historically accurate until Honnoji, then it gets inaccurate.

Yep I've finished it, a few times in fact - I wen't and got all the completions and even finished in on hard. >.<

And yes, the story fairly accurate bar the "Oda's Ghost" crap, where he apparently lives on in memory by his allies after the Honnoji incident. While you of course still control him, although in one of the scenes he even speaks of perhaps not even being alive. They at least hint to him been dead after that point.
