Ok, every time someone at school finds out I'm a virgin they always tell me to grow up. Even my mom tells me to grow up and have sex. eek It really gets on my nerves, I've told people time and time again that I'm waiting until marriage, then they go ballistic on me for trying to lose my virginity as soon as possible. rolleyes
Why do some people associate being a virgin with being immature? I mean, I'm far from mature and I'll admit that but that's just my personality, it has nothing to do with being a virgin.
The weirdest thing is that pretty much all the people at school who say that kind of stuff to me are even more immature than I am...plus they're sluts. Sorry, that sounds mean but it's pretty much true with most of them. sweatdrop For example, no matter where I sit in my sixth period geometry class I get made fun of and called immature. If I sit near one group of people I'm immature because I don't do drugs, sit in another and I'm immature because I don't believe in sex before marriage, another and it's because I like Nintendo, that one doesn't even make sense. scream
And today in second period my friend and I were bitched out by a football player for wanting to wait until marriage. "You're missing out on a wonderful thing." That's what he kept saying. Then I said "yeah, you'll think that when you know some random girl up" he punched me in the gut and told me to stop acting like a kid.
To be honest I don't really mind being called immature, it's true, I am. But to be called that by someone who lost their virginity at 11 or smoked pot at 13...it's just weird. I don't get it, I'm 16, can't I act like a child a bit longer? stare

 Ignore them. It's your own decision. 3nodding I don't know why people call virgins immature. confused I don't think there's anything to be ashamed of. And no, it has not happened to me. It makes me mad that other people think that way. evil

It makes me mad that other people think that way. evil I try to ignore them but sometimes random people will come up to me and ask if I'm a virgin or not and I'm not gonna lie about that, I'm proud of it, I know at least 10 people who lost it at 13 or so and I'm glad I can control myself. 3nodding But I don't get it either. If anything, wouldn't a virgin be more mature than someone who gave into their urges and lost it young? I'm confused about that. sweatdrop

I guess they think you aren't "manly" enough to have sex, which is probably the main reason why they call you immature. But in reality, you are the one who is more mature. You have better morals and better self-control. But it doesn't matter what they think anyway. And I wouldn't be surprised if there was at least one person who overheard someone calling you immature for being a virgin, and felt proud for you.

Well I made a forum similar to this one and its because people usualy tell me that I won't be able to wait until marriage and things like that. They have never called me imature because if everybody that actually knows me in person knows that I'm 15 but I'm more mature than many people that are even over with highschool. (Don't take me wrong I do act like a foolish little girl sometimes) But I always think before I act. And in my opinion those people that call you imature are saying that just because they don't want to accept that you have been able to control what they haven't been able to.

I think they're the one's who are being immature not you. In the long run they'll regret what they've done but you'll be happy about your decision.
