So the one thing that worries me most about myself and wanting to transition and all is wether or not i will ever be able to be able to cope with my horrible phobia of needle-like things....
I am teribley afraid of needles, like I almost faint from getting a flu shot and those are tiny and they dont hurt at all. I cant even listen about other people getting needle or i feel like vomiting, just all these different things.
Today i was geting ready to leave my girl friend's house and i stepped on this little pin like thing and it went into my foot, that was a half hour ago.... I feel like I'm gonna cry cuz it just totaly set me off. I just cannot deal with things that are needle like.
I am like just so scared, I mean I will have to get an IV or needle or something before the operation and I am scared enough to just like not have it because I am much to scared of needles. I really dont know how to cope with them at all.
I just, I just dont know, I'm sorry for this but i needed to express my feelings right now.

Well, when you get a needle injection, just try and think of something else. SOmething that makes you happy. Close your eyes (squeeze them or not, whatever, who cares what anyone else thinks?) and transport yourself somewhere else. That usually helps when you're in a painful sitaution. And if it doesn't, just think of it as fleeting pain. Honestly, if I were you I'd be more worried about how the operation itself is going to hurt rather than the needle...but if you're not scared of that than I think you can handle anything 3nodding .

It's not that I find the needle hurts, frankly I really dont feel any pain at all when it comes to tings like that. I really dont know why it bothers me but it really really does.

I have a dreadful fear of needles too and in order to go on meds to balance my problems I needed to go for blood work ever 6 months. It was a toss up between getting the needles and needing myself to be balanced. That was 4 years ago and I'm still terrified to hell, but I tell you I feel alot better about life in general since getting my hormones in check. This is one of those things you will have to face if you really want to be who you are inside and out. It is a tough battle but one that I think you will be able to face if you really want to go through with this.
Just turn away from the needle and close your eyes. Actually if I remember correctly for FtM they inject the needle into your butt so you won't really see it. I only needed to go onto pills to regulate things because it was a rather minor thing in comparison to some. You might be able to go onto pills too, but you will still need to give blood every six months, it is better then a needle a month that is for sure.
Well luck
Kat

I hope i could take pills, that would be really nice. I don't know if at the point I am at now I could get needles at all regardless of the cause but I am really willing and looking to fix this phobia so that I can go through with all this.

I think you will be able to work on the phobia but you should be able to take pills instead if you can't. so thats nice smile i still think getting over the phobia is the best way to go though.. i want to be able to buy you earrings sometime wink smile anyways either way you shouldn't have to worry about the needles because you can get teh treatment in other ways xoo.
