Please let everyone know who you are and what you are like, teds!
(You need not be as long-winded as I if you do not wish to tell a full story. smile )

I shall begin.

I am Sir Oscar the Bold. I began my existance as a small, humblly-produced craft store ted. I had rather a chip on my shoulder at first, perhaps to compensate for being what I saw as merely one of millions of identical mass-produced teds from China. I stomped about being rough and dangerous for a while, until one day I met Lord Cailean A'Dhragon of Tinas-Tyrith. he is a cloth-and-stuffing personage who is rather prideful yet also innocent and much in need of protection from bullies, and I found I greatly liked him the moment we met. I swore fealty to him, and my ways changed evermore. I became a Brave Protector to Milord (which is not so noble a thing as being Brave Protector for a child, but there are no children in Milord's household).

There are many good and friendly Plush Folk in Milord's domicile, and life was good. I trained and grew strong and skilled, and the bullies who plagued Milord were easily routed. We all live in the domicile of She-Who-is-Called-Eirwyn here on Gaia, and when she is not about we often watch DVD's or fine programs of History or Nature on the television, or I guard her computer from one villain I have mentioned elsewhere.

Thus did the routine of my life progress, occasionally broken by a trip to a Science Fiction Convention or a visit to Milord's Mum, who made him from cloth and stitches and magic. Then, we made a special trip to the home of Milord's Mum one day, and I found she had worked a very great new magic. She had a tiny new BABY. Maid Lillian quite won my heart at once. I was not her bear, but I swore I would be her Brave Protector whenever we visited her evermore, and Milord agreed this should be so.

We never saw Maid Lillian again. Just after Easter that year, the Monsters took her. It was said they were called SIDS. And so, I am now a Monster Hunter, and I shall forever seek to destroy this hydra-headed horror that took Maid Lillian and so many other sweet infants, and still does.

This is who I am, and what I do.
And that is why I hunt my Monster every springtime, in the month of April.

Lady Gladys the Golden

Greetings, Teds of the League!

I am Lady Gladys the Golden. I am an ancient bear whose original person was named Gladys. When my person was a little girl, she called Gladys "Auntie Glad" and Gladys called her "My Little Sweetheart" because Gladys didn't have any children of her own.

My person loved visiting Auntie Glad. She could walk around the block to the next street or take the short cut over the back fence into Auntie Glad's yard. My person learned how much fun a very young person could have with a much older person from Auntie Glad. They played jacks on the floor and Authors at a special table for games. Meal times were special, too, because my person always got to drink her milk out of a green glass made out of Green Glass.

Auntie Glad loved to travel, and my person has many treasures from Auntie Glad's adventures. However, I am her most beloved memento. I am her ONLY Ted! My person named me Gladys the Golden because I have golden fur, Auntie Glad had golden hair, and I come from California--the home of the Golden Bear. I wear a green dress in memory of the green glass, and I delight in teaching children to play games. The ability to play is a mighty weapon for young and old alike.

I am honored to be included in your number and look forward to the adventures ahead.

User Image biggrin Sir Oscar needs no introduction to know who I am! I am Furamir, and I live in the same house as he!
I am a Bear Boulevard ted, one made for wearing costumes. I have a brother named Bearomir in the Tidewater region of Virginia, who has fine attire. I, sadly, do not as yet in Real Life, but this artwork shows what I would hope to look like when that day comes!
I hope my brother will join the League one day, and we can then compete at wrestling and horse racing! smile

User ImageGreetings, Teds of the League! My name is Adam and my person is a friend of Miradora's. When Miradora and Lady Gladys told me of the League, I knew that I had found my mission. I am the Herald in my person's home. I welcome persons and animals--alive and stuffed. I live with many other bears and a cat who likes to sleep on my paw. My person's favorite story about me is how I arrived at her house. I came from a shop in Carmel, California. When I was shipped to New Hampshire, I had to hibernate in a box that was a very tight fit. When my person opened the box, I popped out and bopped her on the lip. She didn't mind because it was an accident, and she was so delighted that I had arrived. I always sit guarding my chest of dreams and wishes. I am almost as big as Lady Gladys' friend Roly Poly, so my ears are right at the perfect height for children to whisper into them. Even though I am a Herald, I always keep secrets. However, part of my job is to help children get up the courage to tell secrets that need to be told and to speak up for their wishes. I use my dreamcatcher to snare children's dreams before they can escape, and I save them and keep them shiny in my chest until they are ready to share them. I am honored to join the League and looking forward to meeting my fellow Teds.

Oh, Adam, congratulations! I see that Sir Oscar has honored you with the task of Guild Herald. I noticed your trumpet fanfare when I entered the estate this evening. The music is very uplifting!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Hello Brave Bears, my name is Big Ted.

I was named so by my person when she was very small and I was very much larger than I am now. But humans have a knack of growing and I was unfortunate enough to cross paths with a foul Dragon who inflicted some rather strange changes upon me. But that is another tale which I shall leave for now.

I am a bear who has always been old. But in my past days, when I had fur and bright eyes, I strove to be a hero and a teacher. I looked after my Little Human and I looked after all the many toys which she had adopted and I tried to teach both to look after each other. Now, as the other toys move onto new homes with new Little Humans, I have decided to retire. I will always have an open ear to those in need but I am too old to be a hero. I leave that to my son, Little Ted, and all the others who I have befriended in my time.

I came here because a bear may retire but it can never stop being a bear - and a bear should be where it can do most good and where he can help others doing the same. It is nice to know that there are so many other wonderful, kind Teds out there making the world a better place and I thank you for letting me join you!
