That reminds me of a phrase I keep hearing but don't know who started it... "punks is hippies".
I don't think the singer is confusing punks & hippies, I think she's referencing both, and the rebellious attitudes within them. or something like that.

I know she knows they're different, but she's mixing in three different things and it sounds weird. I'm sure she doesn't think skinheads are punks or hippies, either. It's just a strange song, because she's mixing in all three things and it sounds like she's just blabbering three thing and mixing them together randomly and her style of music is not even remotely punk, psychedelic or skinhead-ish-ish-ish (need I name musical genres?)-ish-ish-ish-ish-ish. Hence the "What The ********?" moment. -ish-ish-ish. It seems like she's a musician who is only accompanied by acapella background voices and the drums. As for what she is, I don't think she's anything, if you're talking about labels.

She's a terrible person. She knows nothing about hippies or punks. Is that dude walking behind her at :58 carrying a piece of cardboard shaped like a guitar (it's flat!) over his shoulder supposed to be punk? I don't see a single punk or hippie in that video. And what the hell does the toilet paper flying around at the end signify? Or the soccer for that matter. Soccer isn't a hippe or punk thing, and does she really think toilet paper throwing is rebelious? Oh right, someone asked I think and the skinhead genre of music would be Oi. Anyway, hippies suck.
