Ok my pastor (MY DAD!), gives the usual sermon every wednesday. But he's so BORING! I can't stand it, I just wanna rip my ears out. But whenever I listen to some other pastors, I understand them completely, I enjoy the sermon and I find the meaning, but what can I do?

What's the sin your asking about? Not listening to your father's sermons? I don't think it's a sin, it's just disrespectful.

So ask your dad permission to go to another church in the same denomination. It's not fair for him to expect you to listen to the same person on Sunday as well as through the week, you need to listen to other people as well.

It's not a sin. It's just the fact that he's your dad. You live with him 24-7, so whenever he talks to you, you hear the same stuff that are in his sermons. Listening to one preacher all the time isn't good. My church has 2 pastors that work together, but we get different styles of preaching, and different ideas continually. Plus they allow some of the youth pastors to preach sometimes too. Just talk to your dad and explain the situation, and see if he has a solution.

The-Korean-Sting He definately won't let me do that... Why not? Just tell him the truth: It's hard to focus when it's you DAD standing in the pulpit. Seriously I have the same problem with a close family friend, when you know every sin and odd aspect of a persons life it makes them a lot more 'human' and a lot less 'preacher' not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but when you feel more equal with them it takes away from the message because he says do task #1 and yout hink "Why he dosn't," it's personal opinion, but if it's taking away from your walk, I don't see why he wouldn't let oyu, just come in a mature way, the fear of the situation is the worst part.

Its not a sin. Different people are touched by different kinds of preachers, they find relevance in what applies to them, thats why God's given us different gifts and abilities. mrgreen
And if you have difficulty in listening to your dad preach and really want to go to listen to different pastors, talk to your dad about it. If you think he won't listen, just pray about it. Pray that God will open up his heart to the idea.
Hope it was at all helpful. Godbless! xd

My dad's a pastor too, and he always asks me questions about the sermons when they're finished. That's always a motivator to listen and pay attention. Try talking to your dad about the message afterwards, and so you'll have to pay attention so you'll know what you're talking about.

I love to go to church and hear the sermons...but I have to admit, if the guy's monotone...and I'm tired....there'll be snoozing...^^U

you could always see if he would agree to hiring an assistant pastor. like I said before, the main services have two pastors that preach on and off. just recently, since our senior pastor is traveling more during the summer, we have the high school pastor in there more. and in the middle school and high school classes, we have two high school pastors, plus a middle school pastor, and they all preach to both groups. That way we don't have the same guy standing up front all the time, and we get to listen to different teaching styles. So you might want to see if he would do that, if he won't let you attend another church, or anything else.
