Survival Instinct

Out of all the Necromunda novels written thus far, this novel is a real fave of [the reviewer]. Most novelists don't dare to touch special characters presented in games, but Andy did a great job in showing a day in the life of Mad Donna, so to say. The novel is split into the present and the past, giving glimpses into the past of Mad Donna, or D'onne as she was known back then. The reader get the real deal on why she got mad and how she killed her fiancé, along with a snippet or two of how she fared in an Escher gang.
The author, who also created the character back then for the Necromunda game, most likely had a blast writing about this character who is, no doubt about it, a real psycho b***h with a mean streak a mile wide. Several parts in the book give a good description of how messed up she really is, in one particular part eviscerating a bounty hunter during a duel piece by piece just so she can vent her anger. As Donna put it, "He[the bounty hunter] was turned into her own fetish doll."
However, in between the gritty psycho-b***h parts there a re plenty of bits that show the she didn't lose all her marbles just yet. And believe it or not, there is an actual plot worked into the story, along with several cliché settings that somehow find a way into the story without seeming out of place.
A fun read for those looking for violence, but also a good read for those interested in the character as a whole.
