HI GUYS! IF you don't know who I am, I'm known as Forever_Purity on the Ikkicon forums (for some odd reason, you say my screen name, a lot of the staff twitches....) anyways! I'm here, to throw down my idea, for a one-day, texas-traveling con. I call it a texas-traveling because it may be held in round rock (where I'm currently living) or wherever I maybe be at the time I'm ready to throw down a date. So here I go...
1: Name.
Godforbid it, I suck at this, so it'll take me awhile to come up with something with the BLANKcon name. ^_^;
2: Location.
Texas, of course!
3: Hotel.
A nice large one, WITHOUT chandellers, thats all I can say.
4: Length.
1-2 days. Probably 2.
5: Guests.
I'm going for unusual, interesting and new. Yes, I'll have some of the 'regulars' such as the Ayres brothers, Vic, Chris Patton, etc., etc., etc., but I'm also hoping for some just NEW people that I don't think have ever been to a Texas con. This may be a few out of state people, but, I'm gonna work hard at it. I have a dream.
6: Events.
Gaming room, karaoke, anime idol, anime speed dating, cosplay, loli panels, manga-ka panels, seiyuu panels, etc., etc., etc... MASQUERADE BALL.
7: Voulenteering.
.....Not much more to be said. xD I don't know how much of a staff I'll have at the beginning of all this... well, I'll have enough of one for sure. But I'm gonna need ya'lls help too.
8: Graphic Design.
NOW. I have my own personal artist sleeping right in the room next to me at the moment. So, it'll be ok. YAY! All i gotta do is feed him, keep him and his fiance together, and keep him clean and he'll do the work for me. ^_^ BUt anyways, TSHIRTs, badges, logos, etc.,etc.,etc.,
9: MASCOT.

OK, that's all I got for now... I'll be editing this post regularly, so... yeah. Any amount of info you can throw at me to get this thing started would be awesome. ^_^

you definately will need a lot of volunteers and planning as you already know.
...hmmm...and interesting name.....can't think of one
how about something like
LotusCon
(lotus is the flower symbolizing purity)
or if you don't want the word con in it something like
Shiro Lotus
(white lotus)
with that the mascot is kinda easy.....although a sexy anime girl or elf girls is always a plus ^_~

I'm usually pretty good at coming up with names for things, but with conventions, it's alot harder, so I'm just gonna go with something Texas themed for now.
Lonestar-Con
Lone-Con
Taysha-con
Star-Con
Tex-Con <----Lame Idea.
Depending on the agegroup you want, I'd be glad to try my best to volunteer.
For a mascot, I'm gonna stay with the Texas theme, so maybe a not-lame star (Whoever can make a character out of a star, that doesn't look lame, really does have talent), an Armadillo, it's really hard to think of a Texas based mascot.
I really hope you're able to go through with your project, you sound like you're really set on this, good lucky!
