Chapter one: The five founders.
The town of Mallepa was originally founded by 5 different members. They each shared the same vision of starting a town.
Their names were....
not important.
The built the town within the a rather large forest, keeping it secluded from the outside world. This seclusion didn't bode well with a few of the towns founders, as they had hoped to have a more "outside oriented" town. Because of their opposite views, two of the towns founders left right after it's completion. The remaining founders tried their hardest to keep the new town afloat, and seemed to succeed.
One founder started up a school. His vast knowledge helped to educate all those that stepped foot in it. As more and more graduated, more and more returned to the school as teachers, hoping to teach.
A second founder started a small shrine within the forest. She became it's head priestess, and though few came hoping to join the shrine, it still prospered well, and had at least one new student a year.
The third founder created a central government for the town. He was fair when it came to taxing, and always kept the towns best intrest. He was a wonderful mayor.
The other two founders, after having left began to dabble in the occult. Eventually one of them returned to the town, bringing with him a dark omen. The other was never again heard from. It is said that he was killed by his partner.

(My apologies if this sucks, but I'm a bit out of it.)
Chapter 2
~The lion, the witch, and the skyscraper that could beat yo' momma hands down in a poker game.~ gonk
Along with the fourth founders return, dark clouds came upon the town. He only was visible to the public eye for a short amount of time. He soon disappeared into the town's darker corners. A month later a mysterious fire burned down the key government building. Taking the life of the third founder with it. This left the remaining two "key" founders feeling more than just despair.
The shrine founder named a new Priestess for the shrine and remained on as a shrine maiden for a few more years soon after dying of Tuberculosis, a disease she had been suffering from for quite some time.
The school founder remained as the head of the school, not letting fear control him. Though he defeated fear, he could not defeat death. He died of old age after having ran the school to it's peak for thirty years.
Months after the death of the only "remaining" founder, a strange group began to gather within the town. They formed around the ruins of the former government building, tearing down the shrine built to honor the mayor, and begain to build down upon it's remains. Their construction began. Up from the ashes arose a skyscraper.
The group never said a word. In reality each of the group's members were simply dolls, created by the fourth founder. As the skyscraper neared completion, one man stood out to try and stop it. He attacked one of the dolls, furiously beating upon it, taking out all his rage in each punch. He soon found his efforts for naught, as the doll felt no pain. As the man near a point of exhaustion, the doll simply pushed him aside, and went back to work. The man could sense the evil within the tower, and because of this he spent everyday camped outside of the tower, protesting. Everyday that is, until he mysteriously vanished.
Workers from all over flocked to the tower, gathering inside it, never to be seen again. They lived and worked within the tower, with only the dolls that built the tower to keep them company. The dolls kept working within the tower as well, constructing downward into the ground. The sublevels added to the skyscraper's size, making it one of the largest buildings in the world.
Nearly a hundred years have passed since the tower arose....
