//Dear Pro-Kagome Guild: So, Why DO We Hate Her? 0-0;A while ago, I joined this guild in hopes of being able to like Kagome, so that my blood wouldn't start boiling every time I wanted to watch an episode. I surrounded myself with her fans and kept an open mind. But after several months, my opinion still hasn't changed [especially seeing how a most of this guild isn't even filled w/real Kagome fans...].So here's the link to my response letter, explaining exactly WHY so many haters have united against her. Maybe you'll still be able to change my mind? [THE RANT!]All comments and arguments are appreciated! ^-^ <3

Well right now i have neutral feelings for all the characters as I feel that my interest is dying out. I would just like to clarify the fact of how you say that this guild is not filled with "real fans" especially when it looks like it's compared to anti-kagome. However, it may be a mere illusion b/c it is easier to look like hating someone than it is to support someone >w< if you get what i mean lol ya that's all... >< *cowers and waits for flames*

Lol, yeah I see what you mean, (damn this fandom's really dying DX--not that I can say anything XD' *--hardly even bothers reads the latest chapter now--*), but when I made the thread asking why people love her most of them were neutral or thought she was okay...XD' I mean, compared to the Pro-Sango guild or the Pro-Kikyou one there are like zero reasons why people love her! XD;;
Kinda hard to convert when even her fans don't know why they like her...

You know, I can understand not liking anime Kagome. Anime Kagome is just down right annoying and shouldn't even exist >.> Manga Kagome on the other hand, I just can't help but love her *-* Its sad because most IY fans only ever saw the anime and go by that and don't give the manga version (the ORIGINAL version x___X) of the characters a chance ;-; I admit that Kagome was my least favourite character at first when I saw the beginning of the anime, but I'm really glad that I read the manga soon after and now I don't even BOTHER with the anime anymore :3

Anime Kagome is annoying, but er, I never watched it XD' and actually hated Kagome within a few volumes of the manga. So I don't think it has much to do with it, actually, just adds to it.

To me, that's incredibly self-contradictory. You say that you'd like Kagome better if it were acknowledged that she's not perfect, and then you give a list of imperfections, label them as annoying, and use that as justification to hate her. That doesn't work for me, honestly. Either you want her to be perfect or you don't, pick one.
Seriously, no one thinks that Kagome is perfect. But obviously the other characters are going to focus on her good traits, because those are what make her unusual to the time period. Of course that's what they're going to admire about her, because her trust and ability to care for everyone are things that aren't common.
As for real fans, we don't think she's perfect either. Actually, I think that her imperfections make her more real, and easier to relate to. But the second we say that, haters go "YOU ADMIT IT, SHE SUCKS!!!" So you can see why we don't talk about these things that often.
Also, a lot of your criticisms are somewhat hyperbolic. You often say "almost always" and such, when that's obviously not true. Kagome does fight, and quite often at that. I really can't think of that many examples where she just stands there, unless you count the times when Inuyasha is leveling up his sword (I know that's a lot of the chapters, but really, that's not something that the other characters can join in on).
And when does she run away? Inuyasha gave her the opportunity to stay away from the fuedal era. But she didn't. That doesn't seem like an example of running away to me.
You're totally off-base on the Kikyou thing. First of all, everyone gets jealous. If you're telling me that you can control your emotions perfectly, then you're really, really not normal, ok? You talk about how Kagome should understand the concept of actions over words, but you it certainly seems like you don't. Did you ever notice that though Kagome gets upset, she doesn't tell him NOT to go see Kikyou? She always lets him go. Kagome even admits that she's ridiculous about the whole Kikyou thing, but she accepts that he's going to keep seeing her. She also saves Kikyou's life twice, and tries to a third time. Isn't that enough for you? Why should she have to control her feelings? Her actions are enough.
And of course Kagome is grateful for Inuyasha's protection. She thanks him enough, she goes to him when he's in danger, she feels guilty about him having to risk his life for her. That's part of the reason she likes him so much in the first place. Of course she understands that. But don't tell me that she should be able to stop getting upset based on that. These are human emotions, not math problems. Balancing the terms of the issue doesn't always change how you feel.
As a side note, giving the jewel shards to someone else would be stupid. She's the only one that can purify them, why shouldn't she keep them? She's only lost them two or three times. And, she needs them to travel through the well.
I could go on, but I'm rather sick of responding to these tired points over and over. I'm just saying that yes, Kagome isn't perfect, and that, in a way, makes her a better character. But she does a hell of a lot better than most of us would in her situation, and it's completely unfair to hate her just because she doesn't always do the exactly perfect thing. Do any of us do the smart thing 100% of the time? Can we control how we feel? No, so why should we expect that from Kagome?

Yeah but I like both versions of Kagome...manga and anime...yet I don't know why. I mean I agree with Hanajima. I mean I'm not perfect! Nobodys perfect...I suck at singing! I suck at doing math! Thats a few of my imperfections but oh well. I mean we all can't be a talented and professional archer like...*doesn't wanna say her name* Kikyo but to be honest, the world isn't perfect but the immature kag haters wanna think that Kagome should be perfect, let them because they're not perfect ethier but some of them (I have three friends..heh..doesn't it suck?) really need to shut up once in awhile...yeah and one of my friends said that kagome has spilt ends...this is me: I DON'T REALLY GIVE A RAT'S TAIL SYXX! (her nickname). I mean we all don't have perfect hair unless you wanna be a supermodel. idk!

On the first point, yes she does do that alot. Tell me though, what would you do in her shoes? Fight the demon that's ten times stronger then you are, or run for dear life yelling for the one person who can help. And she has been brave and faced a few on her own.
True, but she' from another era. The fact that she taught herself how to use that bow from never using one in her life is pretty cool too. You can only do somuch and Inuyasha, Sango, and Miroku have been fighting demons for a lot longer then she has. It's not exactly something a person can just jump into.
Again, she's someone from another era. She does the best she can and tries to use her brains at times too. Sango has trained al her life for fighting demons, same with Miroku and Inuyasha. You gotta give her credit for even going ven though she knows she isn't capable of what the others are.
She carries the shards because she can purify them with a touch. She offered one to Miroku and even he noticed it. That was why he let her hang onto it instead. And it wouldn't matter who had them, he would find out eventually, there are only so many that could have them.
Wouldn't you if the guy you loved was in love with two people at the sametime? One being dead and the other being alive? I would be and I'd be whinny too. You can't help who you fall in love with. Yeah, that he does, but that doesn't take away the hurt of watching the man you love in the arms of another. Come on now. Even still, Inuyasha kinda wants to have his cake and eat it too. Even if Kikyo wants nothing to do with him. That's not Kagome's fault.
They think she's a great person because she is kind. Everyone gets mad and Inuyasha and her fight like two kids that like eachother, but won't admit it to eachother. If you really look at it, theyare really always there for eachother. Unlike Kikyo, Kagome accepts Inuyasha for who she is. She doesn't want him to change to a demon because she doesn't want to see someone she cares about like that, and she would never let him change to a human to be with her. She would rather have him as is, though she will accept his decision no matter what he decides.
I disagree with that. She' alot more accepting of her destiny then any of us wold be. She also accepts people for who they are no matter what. Can we all say the same? She has a good heart and does her best to help people.Even if,in the beginning, they tried to decieve her. I know I wouldn't be so forgiving, would you? Would you be so accepting of a half-demon? I would probably have freaked out if it were me.
Ok, I have to agree that some of the times she slams him into the ground is stupid. Other times though, it's either because he deserved it, or because he needed it.
Everyone sees that side of her, but the fact of how well she has adapted to the new era and done so much that they see. Not her flaws, they concentrate on the good. I honestly try to do that with every person I meet. The stuff she has accomplished over comes the other things. Some people say certain people who invent certain things are awesome. They don't focus on the failures to ake the said invention, they concentrate on the finished product.
Um.... I think Kikyo broke it off when she tried to kill him. So, it's really the other way around. Considering that, een though she found out she was tricked, she still wanted him dead. That's how I'd see it if I was Inuyasha.
That's not fair to say at all. Kagome has done her best to keep her distance in relationship wise to Inuyasha. How many times has she tried to leavefor that reason. It's Inuyasha who tells her that he needs her there with him, even says so in the first movie. Mixed signals are never fun and she does her best. That's all anyone can do.
Um.... yes actions speak louder then words. But when the actions are conflicting, it's not exactly easy to figure out.
I haven't seen the whole series yet, so let me know when Kikyo dies for Inuyasha? I remember her dying thinking that he killed her and pinned him to a tree. If you can clear that up for me, I'd be greatful. Though Kagome almost died for Inuyasha. If it wasn't for the Celestial Robe in the second movie, she would have died right there. And somethings are easier said then done.
Um.... no, she represents a fifteen year old. A student in school. Not an a** kicking adult. That's an unfair judgement.
And she does help sometimes, but she is only a teenager in another era after all.
Another thing that makes her special is that, unlike the others, she doesn't have a personal gain for finding the Shikon no Tama. That is why she is in a sense more innocent then the others. That's why it responds to her in purity. She has no personal gain. to have it. The powers, she's still gaining in a way. After all, they still are no where near Kikyo's power level.
She does care about his well being. Like wen she saved him from the spider demon. And the other times he tried to fight as a human. Even times where he fought as a demon. Like when he was fighting his brother and got really injured, she didn't want to tell him that his brother was in league with Naraku till he was fully heale and she risked her life to try and help him in that same fight. She also knows that she isn't a match for demons. She isn't stupid.
Only because she can purify them.*points to where she said something about that earlier in the post.
Yeah, she's been there for a while, but she hasn't trained all her life to fight demons. The others have an advantage against her. And in one of the episodes, it's been proven that without Kagome to protect, he doesn't realise his own true power.
To conclude, you all expect way to much of a fiften year old in my opinion. She has this huge destiny ahead of her and she has no choice in the matter as it follows her even to her own time. It's alot to take for one fifteen year old who, the day before, just had to worry about homework and passing grades. Give her some credit for trying atleast.
I guess each opinion is good, but I prefer my own. To each their own as the saying goes. Laters. 4laugh

ok well i didn't like some of her personality at first i mean kikyo was kinda cool but i didn't like kikyo after the witch brought her back so then at that point i had liked kagome just because i can understand how she feels when you really like someone but can't or won't accnologe it, because of secumstances and situations. but in the beginning it bothered me that she was such a wimp i like the fact that she isn't completely useless now but she could improve more. and be a little less tempered oh well what do i know i probably don't make any sence i just like her cause i can relate to her and my personality is very semilar i have found despite what i want to admit.

Perhaps it is because she can be undesided and is a bit of a over achevier and she can take forever to admit anything to her self or others and can take forever weighing out her disitons
