.hack//PANDEMIC
JOBS

(formerly known as Character Classes.)

There will be a total of THIRTEEN Jobs. Eleven Primary Classes introduced in The World R:2 storyline from both .hack//ROOTS & G.U. respectively & TWO more that are exclusively unique to .hack//PANDEMIC.

The Eleven Primary Jobs listed below are (obviously) only familiar to those players here that have enjoyed .hack//G.U. Vol.1: REBIRTH and soon to enjoy Vol.2:REMINISCE with only one of those classes saved from The World R:1, the popular class of the Twin Blade. Some weapons have mechanized parts to them known as"secondary weapons" built into them, such as the chainsaw-like centipede broadsword; Broad Legged. Which is part of the Edge Punisher class of weapons.

· Twin Blade:These light, fast characters use two smaller swords, though much longer than before. This Job class is similar to the original Twin Blade class of the same name in The World. Twin Blades are incredibly agile and strike more often than most jobs, but not as heavily armored, and their defense is not as good as some of the more “heavy” classes. They have more attack Arts than any other class in the NEW-WORLD beta.

· Edge Punisher: Also swordsmen, these characters wield gigantic two-handed swords. Similar to a Heavy Blade in The World. They are slower than the Blade Brandiers, but each strike is more powerful than the last. Their broadswords are good for cutting down armored foes, and their protection is better than that of lighter classes.

· Lord Partizan: Even more heavily defended than Edge Punishers, Lord Partizans wear the same heavy armor but wield gigantic lances instead of huge swords preferred by the other class. They are similar to the Heavy Axelords of The World, except with giant versions of the weapons utilized by the Long Arm. Although they have high physical defense literally making them into walking tanks, their defense against magic is generally lacking.

· Blade Brandier: These are swordsmen, characters that wield a long but light blade such as a longsword or katana. They are somewhat in the middle as far as physical fighters go-not as quick or light as the Twin Blade or Tribal Grappler, but not a heavily-armored tank like a Lord Partizan. They have average strength and mobility, and wear light armor.

· Macabre Dancer: A magical type of Job class that uses status and ability-affecting magic, and is balanced in other types of magic, healing and attack. This unique Character Class uses a pair of sharp fans as weapons and fights with a fluid dancing motion, they are known in the NEW-WORLD beta as 'Flowers of the Battlefield'. This class is known for it’s ever increasing combination attacks that can be continued multiple times, with each new attack pattern more difficult to connect than the last. Macabre Dancers can use status and ability-affecting magic and melee combination attacks simultaneously during combat making them one of the most dangerous Character Class types in the game.

· Flick Reaper: A rare Job class that wield gigantic scythes, and have sweeping attacks that are good against multiple enemies rather than a single foe at a time. Meant to literally "flick" enemies away before they can get within attacking range, dealing amazing amounts of damage to the large mob assaulted. Of course, a Steam Gunner, Lord Partizan and a Longfang Dragoon could still get at them easily.

· Tribal Grappler: These are the grapplers and scrappers with the NEW-WORLD beta that use their fists rather than actual weapons, they also specialize in holds and can slam opponents into the ground with wrestling-like street fighting manueverability. It's similar to the kickboxer class in .hack//Legend of the Twilight (Fightmaster Class in .hack//2TheMax). They equip gloves in their weapon slots and are very quick with, with higher HP than most of the “light” classes. They have limited reach however and use light armor with less defense. These characters are good for racking up high attack combos are able to achieve solo Rengeki Finish attacks.

· Harvest Cleric: The healers of the NEW-WORLD that use staves to cast various healing and other defense-oriented spells. Their primary focus is on restoration and support, although over time they do gain access to more offensive Arts, but at a lesser rate than that of a Shadow Warlock of the same level.
Both the Harvest Cleric and the Shadow Warlock Jobs are based upon the original Wavemaster Character Class from The World, only now split permanently into two seperate Jobs.
· Shadow Warlock: Those with this Job are the attack mages of the game, mastering various offensive elemental magic attacks. They use Grimoires, giant books of magic, that they carry open in front of them during battle to cast their spells. This class can also heal in higher levels and use support magic but at a lesser rate than that of a Harvest Cleric of the same level.

· Steam Gunner: As the name implies, these characters use various guns as weapons, powered by Steam technology, with a sword-like bayonet running the length of it. This class excels in long-range attacks. They do have limited ability in close-quarter combat due to their bayonets, but are more effective from afar, and use lighter armor because of it.

· Adept Rogue: A rarely used Jack-of-all-Trades Job Class within the NEW-WORLD beta next to Chaos Alchemists They are the rarest Job class found in the game. Adept Rogues have the unique ability to use up to three varieties of weapons. Over time as they increase in level and complete various quests, they gain access to the various weapons and relevant Arts used by other jobs, but because they are leveling different weapons at once, they tend to have access to much fewer Arts than a “pure” job of the same level that uses that weapon. Adept Rogues start out with a Twin Blade’s dual swords as their first available weapon type, but can equip heavy armor.

The two custom classes designed for PANDEMIC are of the S-Rank and attributed to be both powerful and exotic classes. The first one is the dual-lance wielding Longfang Dragoon, and the second is a magic-based multi-element adaptive dual-wielding caster class known as the Chaos Alchemist.

· Longfang Dragoon: This class is a dual-wielding medium-armored Job class that utilizes two long-range weapons. An edged melee Lance Type staff plus an Arquebus type steam-powered harpoon gun. That can be used by this class indivually or even simultaneously, hence the term Longfang. This special Job class has the old-school appearance of the Long Arm complete with the flagship customizable Tabard, with noticeable differences, as the Dragoon remains fully armored except for the face which is covered with a hood or cowl. They have a most notable ability that comes in the form of the harpoon gun, using this weapon this job can “Capture” an enemy ensnaring them and literally pull the enemy back toward the Dragoon, if the enemy attempts to flee.

· Chaos Alchemist: Similar to Macabre Dancers, Chaos Alchemists are magic-based melee fighters that wear only light armor, also using Gloves as their primary weapons similar to that of a Tribal Grappler. This Job also utilizes a heavy iron Cauldron(Cooking Pot), that they carry with unnatural ease as their secondary weapon.
This prototype class is even more unpredictable and difficult to use than other Jobs including the Longfang Dragoon.

Chaos Alchemists utilize four specific commands unique to their class, Abduct, Adapt, Augment and Unleash. Chaos Alchemists can “steal” character data from opposing players and enemy monsters by using the Abduct command which is used in a variety of ways, the most successful of attempts can be made through grappling the opponents briefly, and swiping their shadows, which is then stored and “cooked” in the Cauldron, This creates shadow data. Then the shadow data breaks down into it’s Prime Element within the Cauldron, based solely on the elemental type the enemy belonged to, or the element of the weapon they were wielding .Prime Elements can then be used to benefit the Alchemist alone or his/her party members, defensively or offensively through the Adapt or Augment commands.

If Adapt is chosen the elemental data is used by the Cauldron, broken down further and granted as an additional elemental defense status effect on the user or his comrades. If Augment is chosen the same elemental data is transferred into the Alchemist’s Gloves or his friends weaponry to temporarily augment their own physical or magical attacks for a limited amount of time. If the shadow data had no element to begin with, then the Adapt & Augment commands transform the data into added adaptive armor, or increased augmented damage.

Unfortunately shadow data cannot stack within the Cauldron and attempting to do so will actually backfire and potentially harm the Chaos Alchemist and or party members in the process. Backfiring may cause multiple player status ailments or damage to the Alchemist alone. Unused shadow data must be either used up or released first before attempting another Abduct command.
Unleash releases the stored shadow data and immediately dumps it in a root town or other non-battleground automatically, where it disperses into nothing. However, in a battle or on a Field, Unleash will release the data randomly, either as a direct frontal attack or simply a beneficial summon which is released or rather unleashed as a one-time only spell.
