I can see already that I am gonna be out-numbered on this subject. But.. ##############################################
My family voted for UKIP! YAY! ((The UK Independance Party)). The only major party to be totally against the Euro, and other pathetic EU schemes. Personally I hate the Euro and I think people whom just want the same currency all over Europe shouldn't be so lazy and just go and exchange they're money godammit!
I maybe a total English freak, as I even hate to be known as British! I'd rather just be known as English. Mainly because I am not part welsh or irish or scotish...so why do I have to include them in my ethnicity. Sorry to drabble on but my point is, why do we have to follow anyone else? Why can't we stick to our customs and traditional good pence and pounds? All schools would have to change mathmatics with money and teach all students the wasteful breath of conversion. *shudders*. I know that would only be a short-term effect..but I stick with my English Pride.
And yes...I AM TOTALLY BIAST...maybe I hate change..((only in some cases..like this case)) but hey ho. If you want to know the good points about the Euro..go on google.
And here is one more thing that you FOR-EURO dudes shoud know about - when the labour party held a referendum (sp?) about the Euro. 94% of the general public voted NO for the Euro. Face it... I'm not the only one. You're not just arguing against me! So please..when it comes to hard-done questions..I'm not exacly the best person to ask!
DISCUSS: The Euro The Pound Sterling Currency As a general issue. Change. Who your family vote for - if they've told you that is.

I'm Canadian. ^_^
I don't particularly care for the Euro though...only because I like collecting different coins and bills, and my brother gave me a good assorted collection of European currency that he had from his tour. If all European countries used Euro, that'd give me a lot less to admire. I like diversity! XD
I guess the good thing about Euro is not having to worry about currency exchange much--that's for lazy people like me, heh.

I'm pro the Euro. It minimises the control banks have over currency, and it's convenient.
Pure, British currency isn't still its good old self. Forty years ago we payed in Schillings, Half Crowns, Sixpence etc. Now we just have pounds and pence. I think it's naive to base an argument on old customs when the old customs don't even exist.
If I want to convert my Pounds into Euros I have to pay exchange rates which is money right into the banks' pockets. I'd rather just be able to pay in one currency.
Most of the countries in Europe have given up their currencies. Austria has lost the Schilling. Germany has lost the Mark. France has lost the Franc. But somehow we are caught up in the pride of our currency as a symbol of culture. Maybe the difference between Britain and mainland Europe is that mainland European countries base their culture on something more than what they buy chocolate with. confused
And UKIP are in support of policies that undermine the economy. Voting for them is almost as bad as voting for the BNP. Do you know that one of their former leaders was arrested for racist remarks?

UKIP are a shitty party with shitty policies and (not saying your parents are or anything, just the people who run it) shitty people (come on, Kilroy Silk was part of it). I personally don't care whether we change or not. I mean, they'll probably be a period of inflation but with inflation at the moment it could actually solve things. I don't think the pound represents tradition or whatever, it's just another piece of paper, that I can just so happen buy stuff with. Doesn't bother me much, to be honest.

I despise Euro-Land and it's influence on UK policies. >.< Down with the single European currency, down with the European Superstate, down with Metrication! I see myself as more British than English, I'm more Scottish than English anyway. My Dad changes who he votes for... I think most recently he has voted UKIP and Green. I'm not sure who my Mum votes for, I think Lib Dem. My Grandparents were proud UKIP supporters. I voted Green and Conservative at the last local elections because I knew the Green candidate and the Conservative guy said he was against building on the countryside. I'll probably vote for UKIP at the next Euro and General elections if they stand in my area.

I mean, at least every knows the BNP and UKIP are racist twats, the conservative party pretend they're not xenophobic, when in fact they're just just as bad. David Cameron may seem ok, but his cabinet is full of old Etonian retards who wouldn't know what a CD was if it was right in front of their fat old faces. Some of Cameron's policies are good, but if it was a conservative majority then they would never get passed. I don't understand how anyone can vote UKIP, I mean I understand if you're patriotic, but not a xenophobic racist that refuses change. Not saying you are, but that is what UKIP is about, ditto for BNP.

Britain is destroying it's plans to convert to metric. However, the rest of Europe is very much metric. Most of the continent has never used Imperial measurements. Besides, using Metric is so much simpler. It's 100 cm to a metre, 1000m to a kilometre, etc. Instead of 12 inches to a foot, 3 inches to a yard etc.

Umm...this is another thread in which I am completely lost and confused because I do not live in Europe. This is my whole American view: What in the world is going on!? wouldn't it be easier if the world had the same currency? I have issues with currency changes...I ordered something off a British (no offense) website and to my own stupidity didn't bother to think about the currency change. I don't remember the prices exactly but I think it was like 30 pounds (Can't type the funny L shaped pound symbol not on my keyboard) and I ended up paying like $140 dollars (lotsa money).
This is just my thought at the moment: What do British people think of when they think of Americans? If some one said the word British I would most likely think of a woman in a hoop-skirt, powdered wig, etc. or a man in breeches, a powdered wig, monocle, cravat, etc. and language like: "Ah! my dear isn't it simply a splendid evening whot whot?" and "Oh, Reginald it is simply marvelous! I do say, my butler said the funniest thing the other day when he was tending to the rose garden.' etc. etc. etc. I have never in my life hear anyone talk like that. I really don't want to offend anyone but I can guess that I'm not the only one with that image. Just curious...
U.S.A! U.S.A.! YAY DOLLARS $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!

Beth are you forgeting that you are part Danish? Hmm? Anyway, whether you like it or not the Euro will happen. Go move to Switzerland, they're not even a member of the EU yet.
Also, you have been brain washed by your family to vote for the UKIP! They are the British version or Nazis! Thank God they have no chance ever of being voted in.

Thank God they have no chance ever of being voted in. Switzerland will never be a member of the EU - that would mean losing their total-neutrality thing. As for the topic, everyone using Euros is simpler and a load of stuff would be cheaper, but it means that the currency has the ability to be controlled by countries miles away... to be honest, I don't care either way
