Welcome to the planet Myrkr. This compound was named after an ancient smuggler and is called Loric's Lair. This moonless planet is, mostly, a dense forest and only has three main cities. Our Academy lies 30 miles north of Wroshyr. It was founded by wookie smugglers and it lies on the huge western ridge, named Maarwraawroo Ridge. We work hard to maintain the illusion of this area's recent destruction. While we have restored some of the rooms, we have left many in the condition that they were, after the volcano erupted twelve years ago.
This forested planet houses many animals that are found in similar environments. There are, however, two unique animals that you will encounter nowhere else in the galaxy.
The Vornskrs are sleek and agile and exhibit a predisposition to attack Force-sensitives. They are the only known animals that hunt exclusively by sensing the Force. These large predators are equipped with sharp-edged claws and a tail which they can whip violently. They range in size from that of a tawntawn to that of a Bantha. You will encouter them and the unprepared WILL die.
Ysalamiri are small spongey salamander-like creatures that live by clamping their talons into the tree limbs. They resemble a form of worms with claws. Your greatest danger lies in that they have the peculiar ability to push back the Force. Their mere presence creates a bubble wherein the Force doesn't exist. The ysalamiri are no more than twenty inches long but an individual ysalamiri can create a bubble of at least ten feet. Groups can create even larger bubbles.
Imagine yourself facing a couple of vornskrs and not knowing that a family of ysalamiri are living in the tree, right next to you. That Force Push, that you love so well, will be the last move you make. Oops....I mean, DON'T make. You will die without a connection to the Force and your spirit will dissipate into nothingness instead of rejoining the Force Pool as it should, rightly, do.
Lastly, this system has five planets. Ithilinach and Durnakt are gas giants but the other two, besides this planet, can sustain life. Meregolfin's climate is temperate and has a breathable atmosphere, like Myrkr. We avoid that planet because there is a sizable Sith base and a surface to space missle training center. It was the site of a large Yuuzhan Vong voxyn cloning facility that is currently abandoned and severely damaged from orbital bombardment.
Maldalf is a frozen world, similar to Hoth. It is largely unpopulated but has some smuggler bases and caches, hidden below the surface.
There are no ore deposits on this planet because of the indiginous plant life. The trees draw the ore from the ground and into their branches. All manner of wooden objects, on and from this world, are extremely strong and resistant to damage. On a side note......we are presently experimenting with a form of wooden armor that will allow the use of the Force, unlike conventional armor. Anyone with any armor experience should contact the Weapons Master to discuss your ideas.
To become a Jedi requires the deepest commitment and most serious mind. It is not a venture to be undertaken lightly. As such, Jedi instruction is rigidly structured and codified to enforce discipline and hinder transgression.
A Jedi who fails in her/his training can be a very serious threat. The dark side of the Force beckons to the impatient, and students in the past have been lured to its call with devastating consequences.
We, the Jedi Academy staff, welcome you to Mrkyr and the beginning of your new life. We will train you to be survivors and warriors, diplomats and judges, peacemakers and generals.
BUT.....above all else, we will help you gain a connection to the Force.
A connection that is so strong that you will earn the priviledge and honor of receiving the holy mantle of
Jedi.Next stop:
