Hey guys. Well, I'm trying out for section leader on the fifteenth or so. I'll only be a sophomore, but there's only four people (including myself) trying out. Two others are in my class, and the last is gonna be a senior. Wish me luck? I'm supposed to be writing an essay for it now, but...

Anyone else excited for marching season to start again? Mine starts in about two weeks, and then summer stuff. I didn't think I'd look forward to it this much, but eh. Anyone trying out for section leader or drum major, etc.? And for those about to start marching band for the first time, are you excited? Nervous?

On the fifteenth you say?
That was a few days ago.
How did you do?
I totally want to hear all about it! <3
I hope it went well!

I'm ridiculously excited for marching season to start up again!
We had our band banquet last week, where we formally announce our show.
We're playing the music of 'Evita' next year.
Not too thrilled on that, but I haven't seen the music yet, so I can't really judge.

We had our student staff auditions back in February.
Out of the 5 people auditioning for clarinet staff, I made drill captain.
But due to a very complicated series of events, our section leader resigned.
And the section leader position got passed down to me.
I'm going to be a junior next year, so I'm really nervous / excited / ahhh.

Our camp starts July 30th.
I cannot wait.
We already had a bunch of pre-marching season staff meetings and things.
They were absolutely amazing.

[One of which being a bbq at a park which broke out into a totally wild all out water balloon fight. Our band director got an entire cooler of water dumped over his head.]

Oh that Emily

Excellent job! We start tryouts for section leaders in concert band at the beginning of October. I'm a sophomore, and our other two oboes are juniors. I was section leader last year, but I'm already dreading tryouts....
