Among the huge barnacle encrusted rocks are tide pools. These tiny ecosystems thrive in the warm sun.

I set my bucket down and climb onto the jetty despite the warning signs and peer down into one of the tide pools.

Smiling I reach a hand down and snatch up a scuttling crab, "Why hello there." I hold him gently and study the markings on his carapace. His tiny pincers swing wildly, opening and closing, and I giggle at him. "I'm not going to eat you. You can stop worrying."

My ears twitch as I hear Ana's voice and as I turn around I slip, and tumble off into the sand face first, releasing the poor crab before I crushed him. I lay there unmoving. "Owies." I mutter.

She hugged Kara and headed back to the beach to get her things.

I mutter as I slowly and painfully climb to my feet, and then climb back onto the rocks looking for the crab I lost. I stare at the pool for a good minute before snatching him out of tha water again, "Aha. I gotcha now." I grin and then plop him in the bucket, and return my gace to the pool.

I stare, unmoving, at the pool, and suddenly I begin to cry. "This isn't right. This isn't how we should be...someone is missing...part of me is gone..." I blink, "I am alone..."

My eyes blur and my sight diminishes, I go to move off of the jetty, falling again; only this time I strike my head on the way down. I land with a thump into the sand and blink rapidly to try and keep the world from spinning. I turn my head to the side and wince, there is a trickle of blood coming from my head.

I lay there trying to focus my thoughts and to try and keep from blacking out, "Gotta get back to GIT." I mutter, my words slurring together. But my body won't move.

After laying in the sand for who knows how long, I finally am able to haul myself to my feet and stumble back to the GIT lobby.
