I'm in the market for a new lap top computer, and I've got no clue... Would anyone spare me a recomendation? Something good for grades and writing and DVDs.

I would think if a company makes good desktop computers that would be a sign their laptops are of good quality too. You on a budget for it too, or willing to go all all out? That would make a difference too. I think a friend of mine has a Dell, but I don't know if that's because she actually shopped for it or just because her husband went & bought a monstrously powerful Dell desktop for his online gaming. That thing glows bright blue in the dark. eek lol

Dell? Hmmm... Someone had recommended Toshiba for laptops. I had heard that Dells tend to fall apart. Er... I'm on a rather tight budget (teacher's salary.) so... Um... I don't guess cheap and good quality go hand in hand, huh?

Not unless you find a recent-year, well-tended second-hand laptop somewhere. Some folks just HAVE to have the latest thing, y'know... so it isn't inconceivable.

HP. Definitely an HP. Nothing else even begins to compare. And the'll send you some wicked rebates.

I ended up with an HP. It's a good computer. Thanks for the advice, people.
