Ours is older than dirt and loves immitating Elmer Fudd. Whenever a section really screws up, he'll say in his best Elmer voice: "Shh! Be vewy vewy quiet! I'm hunting twumpets!"

We just got back from our band trip and I came back with blackmail-worthy pics of our BD.
Yes, it's true. That was our BD on the merry-go-round....five times in a row!

Mine THINKS he's funny, and some of his jokes do make me laugh, but for the most part, he's really not...
some of our percussionists on the other hand...

I roomed with one on the trip and even though she denies it left and right, she talks in her sleep! Our BD is big on the ever popular topic of flute infestation (which is actually the first step to our plan for world domination) and constantly jokes about "killing a few of us off". For example, when we had to leave a game during the marching season due to extreme lightning, he said that we should have left a few flute players behind on the metal stands, holding their flutes up in the air. stare

Our BD is always cracking jokes. Sometimes, they're not so funny. That's when the BD and one of the Drummers start making fun of eachothers jokes.

My BD makes dirty jokes alot. ^^; But he does make good jokes, too. And they're funny. But mostly we laugh at adorable/silly things he does. Such as one time we recorded a song just for fun, but he didn't know we were, and after the percussion solo, he just says, "Oh yeah~" really loud, and we didnt notice while we were playing, but we played it back and it sounded like the Koolaid guy! XD We still bug him for that.

Ok, we were sight-reading a piece the other day..."Second Suite for Military Band" by Gustav Holst. It's one of those classics that every band should do at least once. So during the third movement, "Song of the Blacksmith" which is supposed to immitate the sounds of a blacksmith working...an anvil is called for in the percussion section.
So what does he do? He grabs half a broken stand and an old, cracked chime mallet and says here, hit this! xp

Like many others, My BD cracks jokes that just aren't funny. And he keeps making us play the hardest songs with 32nd notes for all of the low instruments. Then, we made signs for our favorite song (The Hut of the Baba-Yaga from Pictures at an Exhibition) and all he does is pick out the song we hate the most! (Its Tocatta Marziale if you were wondering). Everyone joke around though, and we make a lot of cracks at his name. We also call him a douchewaffle, which is an un-intimidating a*****e.
