Very nice, I like your Maya-ed room, very clean and nice. Plus your poll, woot. MSI a.k.a. Mindless Self Indulgence a.k.a. The Left Rights, heh. Kudos!

dragonrock18903-Yes, I work with Maya, though I prefer to do most of my animation 2D. I do love modeling, though. The piece I have posted is actually from my first class in Maya, so I should have some better stuff at a later date. Lighting is fun, and so is texturing until you get into UVs.
AlmostUtterly-Thanks! It's a shot of the Ben Templesmith workroom I designed and modeled for a final. And yes, yes, much w007ing for the MSIness. Before class one day an MSI lovin' friend and I heard someone else playing it in their car. We wanted to hug her.

Well you generally have to play with UVs for any irregular pattern on an irregular surface. For example-a checkered pattern would be easy to project on an object if all the faces are flat-you just do one side at a time. Even doing UV adjustments in that case would be simple. But say you wanted to give someone checkered pants-then you'd have to go through some annoying adjustments to keep it from warping. Same goes for any other non-solid pattern. Unfortunately there isn't really a simple way to explain it. It just takes practice.
