I have a beef with you. A small one, but a beef none the less. And my beef may not be a big deal in the long run, because I'm only half way through the game and things could change.

Now Legendia. I like you. I do. You're a good game and you have a nice set of characters and an interesting plot. You really do. Gameplay wise, you're very solid. A step down from Symphonia, to be sure, but solid nonetheless. You are very enjoyable gameplay wise.

So what's my beef? Character development. I mentioned that you have a nice set of characters, and you do. But the villians. Oh my. Did you screw up with the villians. Vaclav and The Terrors. They suck. They are not interesting in the slightest bit and are given minium character development. They were just evil for the sake of being evil. The only potentially interesting Terror is Stingle, and only because he's still alive and is connected to one of the main characters.

So what's up? I usually like the villians in my RPGs Legendia. But so far, as of chapter 4, you've screwed up. I did not care about Melanie, Kashel, or Vaclav. There were no scenes that attempted to elicit any kind of sympathy for their characters. They were just evil. They were Saturday morning cartoon villians, with no motivations beyond being evil. Vaclav wanted power. He had a motivation at least. But that's it. Power. Woooo. Big deal.

Villains were juse one of the many problems and frustrations I had with Legendia, but they sure are a big one.

You'd think that a game based on friendship would focus on both protagonists as well as antagonists working together, but nope. Hell, I think Symphonia and Abyss nailed the moral of "teamwork" in a better fashion than Legendia did, and that wasn't even the major theme of the games.

The game was a bit confusing to me. I sorta couldn't understand everything at once and I agree the badguys could've been a bit better, but the game was enjoyable to me.

Senel and Chloe deserve their own spin off series. >.> They work so well together. They should roam the countryside, going on adventures and busting heads along the way.

I think I'm almost to chapter 6. Ugh. The degree of narrow mindedness in this story is sickening.

The villans were only one problem I had with the game (though I thouroughly enjoyed throwing knocked down foes, usually a pain in Tales games).

I usually find at least one Villan I like in any game. For Abyss, Sync; Symphonia, Yuan; Eternia, Race (though a good guy really). I didn't find one villan I liked in Legendia. There was not anything to like.

I'm on Will's character quest right now. Am I the only one who thought (spoiler) Shirley was being a manipulative witch? It seemed to me she had complete control over the Wings of Light and never intended to use them. It was just a way to manipulate Senel's feelings. Senel knew he would have to say what Shirley wanted to hear or the land would be destroyed.

Or maybe I'm just making up reasons to hate Shirly, because Senel needs to be with Chloe >_>

Yes the bad guys were lame, I must agree. But not all of them... Am I the only one who got great satisfaction after beating the hell out of Walter, Maurits, and Schwartz? They weren't so badly developed.

In other news, I too think Senel should be with Chloe. <3

I...never got past Vaclav's old lair...I got so frustrated with that dungeon and the slowness of the battles...

I'll get back to it once I finish these games (in this order):
1- Kingdom Hearts II (I need to return that this Sunday)
2- Final Fantasy X (I hate the battles, but I'm pressing on for the story)
3- Ar Tonelico (Halfway in, stopped thanks to the above 2 games...)

Just wait til the end @__@ //finished it// I love the game.. but your right, very narrow minded and very... eh.

I hate the fact that Senel ignores Chloe altogether.

TehFrekahPenguin~~ If you think that Senel and Chloe are ment to be, then you will be very dissapointed. >>

He goes with Shirley and they get 'married'. But, Chloe doesn't kinda confess her love to sene

In Chloe's character quest, they make you see that Alcott is Stingle. There is some symphathy there.

And this game wasn't so much on friendship. It was kinda about people's past and dreams.

And not all bad guys need to be somewhat decent. If it was like that, then the Tales of series would always repeat itself and be somewhat predictable. In this game, the sub villians were just some random people wanting power.

And, if you wanna be technical, you could label the real villians as Maurits and Walter. They were the antagonists for the main part of the game.

All in all, I'm just saying more of the sympathy is pointed towards the playable characters at the end of their character quests.

I find that what the dude before me said is true. A lot of the tale series were about friednship.
Tales of Symphonia and Abyss were big ones.
Legendia is more of detailed pasts of individual people weaving together into one future.

Finally got back to Legendia, though I had to restart, and I do agree with a lot of what's up there. The main characters are all very interesting and unique (except for Shirley, I hate her, she gets kidnapped the same number of times Colette gets kidnapped in Symphonia while only 6 hours into Legendia...).

So, yeah...Tales are about friendship and ending discrimination, like:
ToP/ToS: Humans vs. Half-Elves vs. Elves
ToR: Humas vs. Gajumas
ToL: Ferines vs. Orerines
ToA: Originals vs. Replicas
ToD (just a smidgen compared to the others) in Cavalese (? I still don't remember how to spell that...)

That's all I remember.

Anyways, the villians (of the Crusand Empire) in Legendia really are shallow, and I agree that they should have had a multiple-enemy fight for them.

Actually, I believe that each Tales game sponsors its own individual theme. While some games actually reference the other's themes (That one scene in Abyss where they talk about the death of the Dragon in Zaleho? Yeah, it had no major impact on the story, but was a major reference to Dhaos and a recurring theme in the Tales, like in Phantasia, and how he was just trying to protect himself and his domain).

Symphonia was, as someone said, about discrimination.

Phantasia, while its original story was very prehistoric compared to today's games, did do a good job of saying on how evil only exists in the individual's perspective, Dhaos was not killing because he wanted to, but so that he could achieve a great goal.

Abyss had a lot, but the theme at the end was about distinguishing one's self value (The entire point of Luke's development).

Rebirth was about... I don't know, more s**t about racism.

Destiny 2, I BELIEVE (From different references), was about accomplishing deeds for your own person and under your own control, and no one else (Which is where I'm guessing Fortuna comes in, as a God who sees and controls all).

Destiny... World reconstruction? Really rushed at the last minute.

That's why I have a major, MAJOR beef with Legendia, and why I'm steadfast (Perhaps even more than Kenta) that Legendia is not a true Tales game (Hell, it isn't even developed by the same creator). The official websites and sources tell it as being a story about friendship and comradeship, yet it does a pathetic job at this due to crappy villians, subpar dialogue and development, and unoriginal characters (CARDBOARD CUTOUTS, ALL OF THEM. Except maybe Norma...). Sad/detailed pasts? I think for every RPG, that's a given/requirement.

Bleh, Legendia... Can't even begin to describe it on my part.

Legendia was indeed a horrid game, which is why I never played it. As for Destiny 2... More like there is no fate that will bind you until the end, you are free to make your own decisions...

But that is easily overlooked through real main plot point of Destiny 2, and that is a love-story. Destiny 2's moral isn't that good either... BUT IT HAS BARBATOS. ...anyways.

Destiny 1 is... Well, Destiny. I think the reason Destiny was chosen rather than a word ending in "ia" is because they actually had a better idea of how to tie the word "Destiny" to it. Destiny 2 continues this as it is Kyle's Destiny to become a great hero just like his father.

In fact, I think you can look at the majority of the titles and figure out what it is about.

Phantasia~ ....okay, harder, but I think of it as the ultimate Fantasy, something that actually ends rather than just being called "Final"

Eternia~ How 2 worlds are able to exist eternally and how other-worldy spirits are eternally doomed to wander

Symphonia~ The Symphony of 2 intertwined planets in harmony

Rebirth~ The ... hmm... I wouldn't know as I haven't played it

Abyss~ ...the whole world starts to fall into the Abyss, =D!

Legendia~ ....wtf, it's not a Legend. That's just arrogant if they're going to claim that, insta-fail.

Tempest~ Uh... the coming storm of angry fans, =D?
