.corvinus. The nest before you is scruffy but well-constructed, and lined with blue and white feathers. A few black feathers are sticking out of the twigs like flags on a sandcastle. Bones of various sizes litter the cavern floor below the ledge, doubtless the remains of various dinners. Some of the more interesting bones, however, have been stuck into the nest wall as decorations. Despite its state of disarray, the place does not smell bad: clearly the owner is houseproud in a way that is not immediately obvious.

The first impression people usually gain of Corvinus is that he is a deeply unpleasant Phoenii. This is mostly true: he only softens his attitude toward someone once he respects them, and gaining his respect is a difficult task indeed. To anyone who manages it, though, he is a loyal and unashamedly honest friend. Corvinus pulls no punches in his dealings with the truth - if you're good, he'll let you know. Equally, though, if you are being an idiot, be assured that he will tell you about it. In fact, he will probably do so colourfully, at great length, and in excruciating detail. Trimming egos is his speciality, so those with low confidence or self-esteem will probably find him very difficult to like. On the other hand, he would be a perfect sidekick for a young, energetic Phoenii who isn't afraid of criticism: though he seldom talks of it, he is very fond of high adventure and would follow a decent leader to the ends of the earth. He'd also make sure, in his unique and brutal fashion, that they didn't do anything too stupid along the way.

.claudia. A small nest sits in an alcove here, just above ground level and towards the back of the cavern. It
is neatly built and lined with several layers of soft down. Rocks of various sizes serve as well-worn steps up to
the nest, and it is clear that whoever lives here cannot fly. The large flight feathers that hang like
pennants from the nest wall, however, pay tribute to more powerful protectors.

Despite her small size, Claudia is a mother to the world. She welcomes visitors to her nest with an air of slightly weary kindness, and when presented with a problem she will offer measured, impartial advice. Many folk underestimate her, being taken in by her childlike appearance, but she is already more than old enough to be an adult. A mysterious curse has taken from her the ability to age physically, leaving her unable to fend for herself. Luckily for her, she was discovered by Corvinus - a little older than her at the time - before she fell prey to a hungry predator. Her surly companion has been taking surprisingly gentle care of her ever since, and has learned not to think of her as the child she appears to be. For her part, Claudia is quietly and patiently seeking to break the curse, still hoping for the day when she will be able to take to the skies under her own power.

.marcus.
This nest is set into the cavern wall with a good view of the entrance, like a watchman's post at the gatehouse
of a fortress. It is meticulously constructed, the outer wall comprised of strong twigs and carefully daubed
mud, and lined with a scattering of down. Strips of black feather material have been mixed with the mud to darken
the nest, making it blend into the rock. Whoever lives here takes their post as guardian very seriously: the area
below is clean and devoid of any obvious signs of life, and the first warning of the owner's
presence that any interloper is likely to receive is a set of talons in their back.

Marcus is a kind soul with a grave, solemn voice and an unshakeable air of dignity. Although not the eldest of the Sable Flight, he is the undisputed leader and bears himself accordingly. His nest by the cavern mouth allows him to watch over his people, a duty he takes very seriously - sometimes too seriously, allowing himself no rest on nights when danger seems imminent. An otherwise lawful and authoritarian Phoenii, Marcus has an artistic side to his soul which keeps him from being truly ordered. The beauty of the world is his passion, and he can happily spend many a pleasant hour simply watching life go by. Secretly he enjoys music, but he is loath to sing in front of his people for fear of shattering the quiet, calm image they seem to find so comforting.
