Test #1 - A Test of Wits As you enter the large examination room inside the Academy you see many Genin from various Shinobi Countries already at their seats. One of the Takumi Jounin escorts you to a randomly picked seat and hands you a single sheet of paper.
After waiting for nearly an eternity of silence another Takumi shinobi, a woman, appears in a **POOF** of smoke. She is wearing a black blindfold over her eyes and is wearing a sleeveless red and black robe with her headband tied around her right arm.
"Greetings and congratulations on taking your first steps to becoming a Chuunin. I'm Azumi, the instructor for the first test of the Chuunin Exams. The rules are simple, you have one hour to complete your test. Any cheating, talking, wandering eyes or incomplete tests will lead to a failure of the Exam. If you fail to answer the question correctly you fail the test and will be escorted out of the Exam. If you're removed from the Exam your entire SQUAD is removed from the Exam as well. You will be allowed a few minutes to gather your thoughts and then you may begin. Good luck.
After a few minutes of silence the test begins. You turn the test over and afteryou glance down at the test you notice it only has one question to it.
"You are assigned by your Country's Administration to escort a diplomat, from a hostile Country, back to the boarder of your Country. Along the way you encounter a pair of shinobi from another squadron from your Country. The shinobis claim the diplomat killed one of the squad members family members in the past and they want retribution. What would you do?"

Zanzu tapped his pencil on the paper impatiently, frustrated at the question...He'd never been in the situation before so he really didn't know what he would do...he knew he would want to let his fellow shinobi get revenge, but at the same time he would have a mission to complete, and on top of that their is no gaurentee that they are really shinobi of his country...
After a moment of thinking some more he let out a slight yawn then began to write down his answer, "First I would simply try to talk them out of it and tell them if they have a problem with it take it up with the kage because i have a mission to complete. If they insist on trying to kill the diplomat and begin using force i would use my senbon to attempt to disable their movement without causing permanant damage. If i can't disable them and the diplomat's life becomes endagered I would use an exploding tag for creating a distraction, and the bunshin no jutsu to attempt and fool the shinobi into thinking i was escaping with the diplomat, having my bunshins run in different directions, looking as if they were carrying somebody on them, hopefully trying to get the opposing team to follow after them, while being camouflaged nearby.
If all else fails I suppose that if they absolutely insisted on fighting I would just have to pound some sense into them despite the fact that they're from my own country, I'm sure the kage will forgive me since i would just be trying to complete my mission."
Zanzu dropped the pencil and propped his chair back, placing both of his feet on the desk with both hands shoved down into the pockets of his pants after pulling his arms back under his cloak, completely confident in his answer. He was fairly sure he had covered any possible situation and that the answer was one that would get him past the first test, and he knew that if he managed to get past the first test he would have a much better chance of getting past the other tests which actually test his ability as a ninja rather then his base knowledge.
A final thought passing through his mind about 58 minutes after the start of the exam passed through his mind...Hmm...if one of us fails this our entire team is kicked out...that baka better not screw it up for us...and i hope i didn't screw it up for him...that would be just one more thing for him to rag on me about, wonder if the new kid even bothered to show up...

Tyson looked from the page to the ceiling, pondering the question. As he thought of the different ways to deal with the problem, he twirled his pencil between his fingers. Stopping abruptly he started writing an answer putting his brain on overdrive trying to use his intellect which wasn’t normal for him, he always attacked and defended the rest of the team leaving them to decide the strategy. He asked himself, what would a tactician do? He looked at his paper realizing that he had already answered the question.
Tyson read his handwriting and edited the answer until it sounded something like this: I’d have my squad play their strengths. My strengths are to take damage and cause a diversion. If the other team was distracted attacking me, they wouldn’t see someone from my team come up behind them. This would most likely lead to us being able to capture them. Once captured, we could take them and the diplomat to the authorities, who would then figure out what exactly happened.

((I ask forgiveness for my tardiness. I was taking the ASVAB, and guess what got a 92, I rule. My recruiter also took away some time, but still I had my military career to think of eh well national guard)) Quote: She's kinda cute. Ah well back to the exam. Akira began marking on the blank sheet of paper as he collected his thoughts. I suppose the standard answer would be something like a shinobi must always complete the mission even at the cost of their own lives...but that's bullshit. Complete and utter bullshit. The situation isn't too far out there especially with the baka on my team, bad luck always follows him. This symbol on my forehead protector is of the Hidden Leaf, but while my ties to my village are strong my ties to my team are stronger. Like a game of go every move must be carefully planned out right, well that's bullshit too. A true go player plays by the moment and looks a 100 steps in the future and the past all must be accounted for the past, present, and future. While I can understand my fellow leaf nin's feelings I want to win this game, the only retribution that I would be inclined to give them would be to allow them a chance to kill the diplomat if they can defeat my squad. Knowing full well of what they would be willing to risk---their lives. I don't care who killed who, but there are two things that I would care for my team and the mission. Put simply I will fight with full killing intent if they have the same killing intent on the baka or the violent hottie of our team. They're manurisms, they're attack patterns, even their own emotions would be their own undoing. There is one thing I do want to note, it's impossible to create tactics before a battle begins...actually to be less bakaish it's impossible to create good tactics before the battle begins. Like Go you can't run or attack right off the bat and assume it'll work because your opponents don't think like you. But you can always check your resolve before a battle. Akira sighed as he finished writing. Even though he mentioned killing intent he never actually mentioned killing the leaf-nins. Baka, my resolve will not come crashing down. I want to fight you this time around. So you're resolve better be just as strong. AKira looked down at the paper as he waited for time to end, he had been counted on before by his team for tactics so he knew he surpassed Zanzu at least in that area, but hated hypothetical situations like this one as with Zanzu involved chances are they would soon become a reality so writing hypothetical tactics felt too premature for his taste.

The Narashika looked over the question many times before his pencil even hit the paper. This question seemed almost common sense if you followed the exact rules of a shinobi, that you were only a tool and your main priority was to complete the mission. Life or death the mission came first. John frequently re-analyzed the question as he wrote down his answer, trying to find the most strategic answer he could muster.
"First I would move in a defensive position around the diplomat, securing his/her safety. After that a quick analyze of the shinobi's and what looks to be their strengths, or if their were really nins from the country. I would tell them that their request was not possible as it was against my orders and the mission at hand. And tell them that they needed to take it up with the Kazekage. If battle would to be engaged, then I would rely on my team to help protect the diplomat and restrain the other squadron. If restrain was successful then I would help my squadron leader gather questions from the shinobis. If restraining was not an option then my team and I would have every intent to kill to complete the mission"
Dropping his pencil back onto the table the genin crossed his arms and awaited for the test to be over.

Kujikeru fell asleep for a few minutes before waking back up. Oh, right. Test. He looked down and re-read the single question over and over again. Hmph. I thought it would be something hard like math or something. I can totally handle something this easy. Too bad his pencil was gone. He scrambled around and nearly caught the attention of an instructor before finding the pencil tangled up in his locks of hair. A painful rip out and he hammered away.
"Well if the're our comrades, then fighting them would be pointless. Wouldn't it be better to just sit them down and have a civilized chat. Maybe brew some tea. Not green tea, that junk tastes like wate--" Kujikeru stopped and erased the last sentence. Maybe I shouldn't ramble on something like this... He went back and started again from 'civilized chat'. "Honestly, just jumping to a fight would seem too rash. Though they may be peeved, violence won't bring back anyone. There's also the consequences for them that I'd have to remind them of; court-marshaling, imprisonment, maybe even act of much stricter severity. If the diplomat is even the smallest bit sorry about it, I'd just suggest he apologize sincerely then take him away and hope the others follow suit. If not, then I'd make sure he wouldn't start talking about it. "Though, of course, if they are stubborn and unreasonable, then we might have to deal with them physically. Since we're still Genin, we'd probably have our sensei to deal with them. If I would assume that we're all ready at a rank that needs not merit a sensei, then the best way to deal with situation would be to surprise them, or better yet hit them with a genjutsu. The main priorities are to protect the diplomat and to K.O. the other two without killing them or inflicting too much damage to them. Of course, if they were too strong for such tricks, then it would be better to let our strongest two each take on a single shinobi and let our last team member flee with the diplomat and inform authorities. "In the end, it really depends upon our strength and numbers versus theirs, then whether or not they can be reached. Truly, even attacking us would be grounds for strict punishment and they should really understand this. Hopefully we could leave on good terms. Maybe even make some new friends! Oh, we could go out and eat and--" Luckily enough he ran out of room at this point and couldn't continue to ramble. He merely flipped the paper over and fell back asleep.
