Japanese name: Konoha Senpū English name: Leaf Whirlwind Type: Offensive Short-Range This Jutsu is mainly a set-up one, and consists of kicking the opponent high into the air, thus leaving them vulnerable to a subsequent more powerful attack (usually Kage Buyō, Shadow of the Dancing Leaf). Gai's version of this attack has chakra around his foot which would make his a C-rank.

Gōken is the most basic form of Taijutsu. It aims at inflicting external damage and breaking bones. With this Technique you can transfer up to 5 chakra into each hand-to-hand attack for extra damage.
(Wind Release: Faithful Ball of Destruction) ][C-Rank, Ninjutsu, Offensive] Mid-Range For its impressive name the technique isn’t in all that destructive. After performing the required handseals Akira puts his hands in a triangle like formation and compresses the air around him into a ball of wind mixed with chakra he then fires the attack at an opponent when he can’t fight at close range.
[ Kage Buyō,], ( Shadow Leaf Dance) (C-Rank, Taijutsu Supplementary) Short-Range While the target is airborne, the user jumps in such a way as to appear below the target while following a similar trajectory through the air. Since the victim is airborne, he is in a vulnerable position to a more damaging attack such as Omote Renge or Shishi Rendan.
[Kai], (Cancel), [C-Rank, Genjutsu, Defensive) Description: A jutsu that destroys/cancels out an illusionary jutsu attempted on the user. More powerful Genjutsu techniques(their chakra spent on Illusion is greater than your Cancel ability can still overcome this technique however.

Character Description: Akira’s spiky hair is black with blue streaks. His bangs are long enough to cover the sides of his eyes but don’t affect his vision, He also has a crescent shaped ponytail on the back of his head. He has piercing ivory eyes.
He has recently donned a Black Duster over his plain white shirt and his black pants with multiple pockets and buckles on them. There was a sort of sheath sewn on the inside of the jacket holding a rusty old ninja-to. He wears standard ninja shoes and a fishnet meshtop that extends to his hands with bandages over them on his hands. Also he always wears a necklace that holds a tooth in the center. His wrists and ankles are weighed down by weights that he found on the ground after Mia and Willow left.
Recently he had his left ear pierced.

John wears the traditional genin uniform with his traveling backpack on at almost all times. Over his uniform and backpack he wears a sand imitating cloak. He covers the backpack as well to keep a secret of his supplies. The cloaks sleeves continue past john’s hands for a additional 6inches, this way the arm holsters are not discovered. The helmet john almost always wears, other then in the privacy of his own home, is made of a sand color material that covers from the top of john’s head to the back of his neck. The same type of material is used as a veil that connects to the head piece to cover from each side of his face, so only his eyes are revealed. The veil reaches to john’s collar bone. A black tinted glass is placed were john’s eyes would be located; this keeps the harsh sand out of his eyes. John’s eyes are a dark blue that is caused when the contract is activated to become a nest. The pupil and white area of the eyes are completely dark blue. Note: John feels himself as only a tool of the shinobi world. He has an uneasy coldness to him that doesn't make him socialy compatable. He also is unemotional when on missions but shows some personality when not. The user then swings the weapon toward there target and release the charged energy so that it flys at the target. This could, if used right be a distraction for a different attack. Tyson uses Chakra for this attack.
[Konoha no Tate],[Leaf Shield], [D-rank, Ninjutsu, Defensive] Using chakra lifts leaves to swirl up infront of the user to block an incoming melee attack, ranged attacks will most likely only be slowed down. Must be near an amount of leaves sufficient for the technique.
[Douteki Saitentei ], [Dynamic Air Marking], [D-rank, Ninjutsu, Special] Short to Mid-Range A Ninjutsu technique that may only be effective to the Inuzuka Clan. The ninja's dog will spin through the air, urinating on various targets, which the ninja and their dog can then track by scent with their superior olfactory senses. In addition, the dog's urine burns anyone who comes into contact with it, making this not only a tracking technique, but also an offensive maneuver. This technique is exclusive to the Inuzuka Clan.

Once in range Tyson will lash out with a ferocious attack. Mainly used as a last attempt, hoping to catch the enemy off guard and do fatal damage, as the name suggests.

Other items of interest about his outfit are a dust mask, similar to Kakashi's mask, a set of tinted goggles that rest on his forehead, a straw hat that rests against his back held there by a strap, and his forehead protector which is on his upper right arm most of the time.

New Combat Addition: The Grid System

I've always liked the combat system but with a non-graphical format it was always hard to explain location to one another(not to mention to show just how much area an explosion would take up, etc).
But now we have the Grid System!
For the Chuunin Exams the starting position for combat is a set placing so this was a good place for me to test out how this will work.
Example: Shinobi #1 vs Shinobi #2
Starting Location: Shinobi #1: 5D Shinobi #2: 5G
The shinobi start 2 blocks away from each other, or as they will be called "areas". In one post during combat situations a shinobi is allowed to move 2 areas if they choose to take no offensive actions or move two areas and perform an Offensive action at -5 To-Hit(there is one exception, see below). Or you may move up to one area and perform an Offensive Action with no penalty.
Exception: If you are using a short-range attack like the Chidori(for example) that requires a running start you may move the full 2 areas and strike with no negative penalty.
Now that the grid system has been established the Techniques will be classified as: Short-Range, Mid-range or Long-Range
When the Techniques can be used (Min Distance - Max Distance) Short-Range: Same Area to One Area Away Mid-Range: One Area to Two Areas Away Long-Range: Anything greater than Three Areas **Long-Range Techniques may be used at Mid-Range but it is at a -5 To-Hit and the Damage is reduced by 1 Rank. (A B-Class Long-Range Technique would only do C-Class Damage at Mid-Range.)**
Movement: During the battle Shinobi #1 decides to move back an area to perform a long-ranged Technique.
Shinobi #1 Health: Blahblah Chakra: Blaheblah, Stamina: Blahblah Action: Run away! Position: 5D to 5C (1 Area)
Shinobi #2 Decides to chase, but still keep the same area distance, and throw shurikens. This successfully puts him back into mid-range distance and prevents shinobi #1 from using long-range techniques at their peak effectiveness.
Shinobi #2 Health: Blahblah Chakra: Blaheblah, Stamina: Blahblah Action: Chase, Throw Shuriken (Blah + Blah = Blah To-Hit, Blah Damage, Crit or No-Crit) Position: 5G to 5F (1 Area)

unknown shadow I have a question about this. Say your using a holding jutsu that is able to travel like Johns bug hold jutsu. There is no damage so is there only a penalty against to hit? Techniques like that would be classified as a Mid-range Technique. If you're using it from long or short range it would have a penality To-Hit. Short Range would also carry the danger of the person just punching you in the face while you did it. xp And remember darlings! Post your questions here not in PMs heart

Does moving consume any stamina, like 1 stamina per block moved
Also, how would stealthing work square wise, would you be able to move stealthed so that the person couldnt just run up to the square you stealthed at knowing you would have to be in that square or would they have to perform the intuition checks against your stealth checks whenever you moved around to see if they notice you moving?
and how would traps work? lay it down in a square and if the person moves into that square the trap goes off and would you have to announce to your opponent openly that you were laying a trap because if that were the case they would know to just avoid that square and they would never be hit by the trap.
Annnd one last question, in the description of phoenix fire it says it can be used in combination with ranged projectiles, how would that work exactly, and how does the jutsu work since its multiple small fireballs? like 5 fireballs at 2 damage a piece?

However after the Exam when shinobi are fighting in open areas there will be "Chase Rules" about how far you can go and using stamina to speed yourself up when fleeing/pursuing someone. If you're hidden that typically entails not moving. Well it'd work like this. If you're sneakily putting something down you make a stealth roll and they have to make an intuition roll(this goes with a LOT of stuff so it wouldn't necissarily have to be a trap). If you pass your stealth roll then you are able to set the trap down within whatever areas you are allowed to move to in that post. If they failed the intuition roll you dont have to tell them anymore than the initiation "Oh you need to make an intution roll". However, if they beat your stealth roll that would mean they would have seen you place the trap down. If you're talking about the Housenk no Jutsu (Mythical Fire Flower Technique). Well it's a still a mid-range attack and I have already updated the Tools of the Shinobi Databook with the ranges of the weapons. If my memory serves most of the projectiles are mid-ranges so the distance would be the same as the Technique. As for how does the damage work? It's still a technique so it only takes off however much Chakra you put into it. A shuriken that only deals 2 damage isn't going to add enough "oomph" behind an attack that's already charged with 20 - 30 chakra. If you're talking about a Custom technique though: Like how I started Techniques with only one type available any custom technique for now can only have one set range. Techniques that have been shown in the TV show have variable ranges though(if they had them in the show).

Seth Vales How would dodging an AOE explosive note work? I'd say with an evasion, since lately in the anime i've seen seeing them jump over giant fireballs/waves. The shinobi can stay in the same area and jump up an area then land back where they started or they can jump to the left or right of the attack(if it was coming straight at you) and land an area away. Example: Shinobi #2 is standing on 5F and Shinobi #1 throws an attack from 5D. Shinobi #2 can evade upwards and land back in 5F or he can evade by jumping into 4F or 6F. If the explosion's any bigger than an area though you're probally out of luck.

Okay...so anything that is a middle ranged attack is useless then because all you have to do is just run out of the square that the person is throwing stuff at? Makes anything middle ranged useless, or atleast that's the way Akira is playing it out and the way you made it sound.
Came here to ask that, If i attack like i did in the exam and throw 5 senbon then a tagged senbon as my second offensive from 2 higher speed boost, Akira should only be rolling 1 defense dice and would he be able to just straight run out of the square and make it completely pointless to attack by giving all of my stuff -5 to hit from going from a 1 square away mid ranged attack to 3 squares away long range attack or would he actually have to do an evasion defense roll and be successful to evade the attack from jumping out of the current sqaure or above the explosion?
My example is as i did, threw 5 senbon, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8 then threw a tagged senbon with 15. He rolled 2 seperate dice for defending which im 99% sure hes only allowed to do with 2 seperate people attacking him, not one person attacking him several times. And he ran backwards 2 squares as an automatic thing to increase the distance of my attack from middle ranged to long ranged forcing it as a -5 to hit. his first roll was a 1 (10 total against the senbons) followed by a 7 (14 total against the tagged senbon assuming he can use this dice which as i said before kinda goes against the combat section.) making it impossible for him to dodge/parry any of it without the -5 to hit but taking a -5 to hit makes almost all ranged attacks in this system worthless if you can just outrun any of the techniques/ranged attacks that are mid-ranged automatically.

I'd only roll one defense die if they all came at the same time, but you threw the tagged one after the five...or at least that's what I was led to believe. Though the only reason that it was capable of outrunning was cuz you moved down.
But he does make a great point, if it's that simple to avoid mid ranged it makes it a bit flawed, or at least senbon should be long ranged as well since there's only one type of senbon. Or maybe instead of only a -5 for offensive defensive actions should suffer from movement something to balance it, if it makes midranged attacks so hard to use.
On the other hand the only reason for an imbalance is the fact that the defender isn't suffering in some way. Which could most likely be remedied with the stamina costs that will be included for running.
