Leaving the high street, you enter a small cul-de-sac. detached cottages, each with their own little garden, thatched roofs, sand coloured walls, a treat for the eyes, at the end of the cul-de-sac, one house stands out in particular, It's garden seems more-so well maintained than the rest, the roof is trimmed to within an eighth of an inche of perfection. Inside, you hear the playful screams of children while they try to escape the grasp of their father, looking for his last hug before he goes to work, because heaven knows, you can't go to work without saying good bye to your children. Another sound greets your ears, coming from another part of the house, a woman's whistle, quietly going about her duties. It all has a very calming effect on your mind. The man looks up and notices you. Coming briskly to the front door, he invites you in for a cup of tea. Will you come in?

Eike pushed the wooden door open warily, he hadn't been home yet, and there could be any matter of mess behind the door. Nothing, maybe Rose had done her job today. Lighting a couple of candles around the house, Eike checked over their belongings, nope, no thieves. "Right then, children, bed time." He said decisively, knowing there would be opposition.

"Yes, up to bed with you both- I want to see you both asleep when I come up and check, you hear me?" Bunny said- sternly. Unlike Eike, she happened to be a little stricter with the kids- one of them had to be!
"Go on, no excuses- brush your teeth, change into your pyjamas and straight into bed. You may read for a few minutes, but when I come up, lights out"

Eike retired to the sofa. Leaning over the back of it, he looked at the children going reluctantly upstairs, then at his wife, Bunny, who was making sure they did all their duties before bed. "Come here, have a sit." Eike said, patting the seat next to him.

"You just sit there while I do all the dirty work, you're very evil mr Sky" Bunny sighed as she moved her way back to the sofa. Time for a good long rest I'd say. "How come I have to do it all the time, they'll probably grow up to hate me, and love you- and then they'll put you in a super good retirement home, and a dingy old nursing home for me" Bunny said with a mock pout, laughing under her breath at the same time.

"Yup." Eike said bluntly, "That was my plan all along." He put his arm around his wife. "I won't let them do that to my Bunny. Besides" He continued, "We'll never need a home, we're both going to beating our children in the town festival races even when they're grown with kid's of their own." Eike leaned to the arm of the sofa and let Bunny half fall on him.

"You know Eike, you're supposed to disagree with me... Not say that was your plan all along you know" she chuckled poking him on the arm as she settled down- indeed, half laying across him. Comfortable and warm. "oh my gosh.. Don't say that Eike. Grandchildren? That's a scary thought. Rose and Chris are only young... Please don't remind me that they're growing up that fast" she grumbled running a hand over her forhead. "Grandchildren and these wrinkles will grow even worse.... Not looking forward to that part"

Eike looked down at his wife's face and kissed her gently on the lips, "What wrinkles? Besides, everything comes in it's time, and it won't be yours for a very long time." He kissed her again when she went to reply in her usual indignant 'they are there' manner, "Don't speak, You are the most beautiful woman to ever grace this beautiful earth, you would make even wrinkles look as though they were a gift from God. And, even then, I will still love you, as I always have, so will I always."

"You'll still love me, when I get old and wrinkly, and I look like David Brinkley?" she added with a small smirk. "I'm not too sure about wrinkles being a gift from god. I don't think he'd really want that to happen... But ahhh well, I 'spose it doesn't matter. Hopefully with all that cream I have, I wont get them for a good while' she chuckled. "Now, the kids. That Chris, he can't keep doing things like that. I know he came straight to us, but he's six. What if someone came along behind them and Rose and snatched them up? It could've easily happened. We can't let them get out like that again Eike"

Eike smiled a weak smile, eyes closed. "He may be six, but he has my genes in him, I mean, he almost snuck up on me in the tavern, don't you remember? No one is that quiet, and I'm sure he was as alert in the street." He pulled his arm to the bottom of Bunny's ribs, providing the sensation of comfort and security. "I'll still love you when your old and wrinkly." He said. His mind shouted as a brilliant thought came into his head on how to wind Bunny up, he murmered dreamily, but quite on purpose, "Maybe I should teach Chris to arch instead of Melee."

"I know he's quiet, and he's quick and small- but you never know. You wouldn't want Chris and Rose to roam the streets alone at night would you?' she frowned, sinking back into his arms. "I don't want my six year old son to be out alone so late at night, where he could get hurt, run over- snatched, kidnapped... I want him home, with a babysitter, or out with us if needs be" Bunny muttered sleepily before sitting up very straight. "WHAT?" she almost yelled. 'No... There's NO way you're teaching Chris to do ANYTHING. He's six years old for crying out loud Eike. I'm not having MY six year old son do anything like that. If you have a six year old son, you can do what you like... BUT NOT MINE" she said fuming, not having realised how stupid it sounded.

"Run over?" Eike said, startled, "Don't be so pessimistic, the likelyhood of Carts coming round here at night is slim. Besides, I'm sure Rose would know what to do if she was in trouble, and I know Chris does, attacking me with that stick. They'll be ok, but if you really wish, we could take them down the Tavern every week, maybe toughen them up a bit?"

"I'm not pessimistic. You never know what's out there. I don't care if you were out there as a kid... At Chris's or Rose's age, look at how you turned out" she said trying to hide a smirk as she poked him on the shoulder. "We shouldn't need to toughen them up. We should stay home with them more often, perhaps do normal family things. Without leaving the kids to get worried and try comming after us. Look, tomorrow evening, you do what you want with the boys- I'll stay home wiht Chris and Rose, and we'll see what they do then. wether they want to learn anything or not. As much as I love the life on the edge, I want them to have a normal.... Childhood."

Eike sighed, "What's wrong with me?" He asked. "And anyway, It's not toughening them up, it's just teaching them tracking skills, you don't know how helpful that could be later in life." Eike relaxed his shoulders, closing his eyes, safe in the comfort that his wife was alive, with him.

"He's six. Learning for the future can come a bit later. Especially that kind of thing" Bunny added back, rather snappily. "What's wrong wiht you? You're too full of adventure... you act as though you don't have kids, and you're still one yourself... Grow a back bone Eike... They're little.. They're not meant to be adults just yet... On the other hand, you're supposed to be."
