i was reading an old scripture in ecclesiastes (yes i read the bible as well as any other literature) where it says "everything is meaningless...everything is meaningless says the teacher completely meaningless"then it goes on to say "I said to myself 'Look, I am wiser than any king who ever ruled jerusalem before me. I have greater wisdom and knowledge than any of them' 'So i set out to learn everything from wisdom to madness and folly. But I learned firsthand that pursuing all this is like chasing the wind"
well there is alot more in that book that has profound meaning but i'll leave the rest for another day..or month..who knows...but that's what i love about ecclesiastes...it's a book of poetry some of the best ever written and i love what hes saying here..he's saying that everything we accomplish in this life means nothing...like living the american dream...you know getting married and having the perfect kids...in the end does that really matter in eternity?...not that there's anything wrong with it..(i plan to follow that dream myself) but the point is don't let THAT become your main goal because it doesn't count for anything in the end...and so you see chasing that hapieness is like chasing the wind it can never truly be achieved... and solomon is also saying here that the pursuit of ultimate joy and happieness in this life will NEVER be achieved by anyone...because nothing is perfect here...we are in a sense "flawed" so i suppose in the end..it's about finding what beauty we can in our "flaws" even so we'll never know "true" happieness in this life...but we can come to grips with ourselves at least
ok so this was originally a post in my journal...but i thought this could turn into a good discussion so i decided to post it in the forum so more people could see it..

profound meaning????NO its not, pastor did sermon on this.....
all we can do to be happy here is EAT FOOD, eatting food is fun smile
he is NOT compairing this life to eternity, he is compairing this life to THIS LIFE, nothing man dose is NEW....
ECCLESIATES 1:11
there is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow.
this is a meaningless life, and there is nothing for us to do, the best thing we can do is EAT food
ECCLESIATES 9:7
go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that GOD favors what you do.
