Well, this idea just popped into my head, but there are several people in history who just seem to fit in with hogwarts, who are they and what house would they be in? Remember that hogwarts was founded circa 900 C.E. (or A.D., for those of you who don't go by the modern time tags ^^) so sorry, Julius Caesar did not go to Hogwarts.
Obviously Nicholas Flamel went to Hogwarts, most definately a Ravenclaw ^^ Nicholas Flamel is a real historical figure, who, according to the records, kept mysteriously appearing after his supposed death (which his body went missing alongside the book that he aparrently kept the recipie for the philosopher's (sorcerer's) stone (which, ironically, was no stone but an alchemical concoction)) (woah, parenthesis within paraenthesis). He reappeared in the 1800's, over 200 years after his death, in India, and then again in the latter part of the 19th century checking into a hotel in Paris.
Vlad Tepes (Dracula) probably went to hogwarts. He was in Slytherin, of course. He was kicked out in his 6th year though, after his four roomates were mysteriously drained of their blood. Disgruntled, Young Vlad decided to take his agression out on Turkey. He also had his own castle, which he said compensated for missing the "full hogwarts experience."
I can also see Napoleon Bonaparte in Hogwarts - definately on the Slytherin quidditch team! He'd be the seeker, of course, and the captain naturally... and have a knack for getting into duels with his offending peers.
I'd have to say that Lord Byron would have definately gone to hogwarts! He'd be in Ravenclaw, most definately, but he'd have some gryffindor qualities of bravery - however, I think that the majority of Gryffindors would make him angry and he'd have to go write some scathing commentary on them! XD
Victor Hugo, Percy Shelly, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly, and John Keats all went to hogwarts. They were all in Ravenclaw, too. Rumors have it that Percy met Mary there, but Mary had a thing with Byron, those naughty Romantic authors! Percy was slightly jealous of Byron, who got all of the girls (and boys), captain of the quidditch team, prefect, and Headboy. I can also imagine them picking on young Napoleon. No wonder he was so angry. Those poets are mean!
Michaelangelo went to Hogwarts, you know? He was in Gryffindor, and often brooded a lot. It didn't help that Ravenclaw Alumni Leonardo daVinci taught classes and criticized his work.
Nostradamus went to Hogwarts. He was in Gryffindor, and liked a good laugh. He was awefully good at Divination, so he wrote down predictionss and sold it to muggles, which, of course, is against school policy. Nostradamus was kicked out of Hogwarts, but knew how to brew some healing potions, which he later used (once again illegally) to help victims of the bubonic plague.

*jumping excitedly*
Ghengis Khan went to Hogwarts, only to find out that he was horrible at magic, so he picked up the sword and various other Mongol weaponry. He was very good at one specific spell, which lit things on fire. Our good friend Ghengis Khan was a lovely Gryffindor.

Alfred Nobel went to Hogwarts (Gryffindor) but got kicked out because he made something explode and after that he was obsessed with finding out how to make things explode without magic.

Ghengis Khan went to Hogwarts (Slytherin)... he was expelled for attempting to force all other houses into submission - he burned down the hufflepuff house. He also built a rather large catapult from which he flung first years (of course, he cursed them with some sort of contageous disease - the plan backfired when it killed 1/3 of europe's muggle population).

I bet Joan of Arc went to Hogwarts or Beauxbatons. If Hogwarts, she was probably in gryffindor.
Harry Hudini (cant spell) was probably in ravenclaw
Jk Rowling went to Hogwarts (haha) and was in either ravenclaw or gryffindor.
Hitler was most likely in Slytherin. So was Joseph Stalin and Benito Musilini.

(This forum is pretty cool) Leif Erikson went to Hogwarts, shortly after it was founded. He was sorted into either Gryffindor or Slytherin, where he studied many things including astronomy, and Runes (as the runes aren't Ancient yet, they were still being used), though he had to drop out when his father got banished from Iceland and the entire family had to move. Leif was exceptional at directional charms and used them to help him find Vinland. mrgreen

You officially get 3000 cool points... which, coming from me, are like negative actual cool points. Because I'm a nerd. And when a nerd gives you cool points, you somehow go down on the cool ladder. but that's okay, because once all of the people we don't like are on the ladder, we can push it over and laugh maliciously.XD Da Vinci went to hogwarts. He was a ravenclaw, no less. His attempts to find a more suitable flying machine, as the brooms were fairly uncomfortable for the men to sit on, led him to develop some sort of flying machine. To the Muggle eye, the machine didn't work; however recent sources lead us to beleive that they did fly, only they never caught on.
