Here is chapter one of my greatest (actually just my longest sweatdrop ) work so far. It is a bit mature, but it is in good taste that moves the story along anyway here goes:
"For many nights now I have been having these strange dreams. I find myself walking on a path through a forest, but there is a lack of any living things. As I reach the edge of the forest I find myself upon a giant cathedrel. As I reach for the door a voice from what seems to be inside my head says.... no asks, "One of you must make the sacrafice, but which one of you shall it be?" After that I wake unable to finish the dream, as if I am not yet meant to."
CHAPTER 1: Fujin and Rajin
I awoke to the sound of a knock on my door. As I opend the wooden door I was shocked to find my friend Alex there in full armor. "Why are you wearing all of that at this time in the morning?" I found myself asking. "I am a mercenary after all." He said in a slightly sarcastic tone. "Well what does that have to do with me?" Trying not to sound annoyed. "I have a just got this job to find some mage who is wanted by the knights, and I was wondering if you would condsidering helping me out." "And why should I do your work for you?" I yelled at him as I slammed the door on his face. "I will give you fifty percent of the reward" He yelled through the thick wooden door. I could'nt believe I was even considering it, but for some strange reason it felt as if I couldn't refuse even if I wanted to. " Fine, just let me go get my sword and I'll be there, just don't get any funny ideas about taking any of your "shortcuts," last time we did that we nearly got arrested for trespassing." Without waiting for his reply I went to retrive my sword from the mantle above the fireplace. As I walked across the stone floor I started to reminise about how I got the sword in the first place. It was about ten years ago when Alex and I were kids.
"Are you sure we should be doing this? Are parents did tell not to go outside of the village." I asked worringly. laughingly Alex replied, "What the worst that could happen?" I didn't even bother to think of all the posibilites. "Why are doing anyway?" I asked. "Umm, well I heard there is a abandoned house full of neat stuff" He replied. Now that I think about it I think he just made that up to get me to go along with him. I asked suspicously, "Wouldn't it be stealing if we took anything?" "Nobody will know that we were even there, and besides its not really stealing if no one lives there anymore." Alex boldly stated. "Well, lets just hurry this up already, so we can get back before they notice we are gone." I grumbled as I began to follow the path into the woods. We must have looked like mere specks compared to the gargantuine pine trees. Our parents always warned us not go into it. After this little adventure I learned it was for a pretty good reason. After about an hour of walking I stoped and asked "Do you even know which way we are going?" "Of course I do. Plus the house is right over there." He said while he pointed off to the side. Amazingly enough he was actually right about something for once. Little did I know then that one of the forests less friendly inhabitants happened to be watching us. When we reached the abandoned house I could tell Alex was dying to tell me how he was right, for once, about the house. As I placed my hand on the door I gave it a slight shove, and watched it open slowly giving a loud squeak showing how old it was. Revealing a dark room full of cobwebs and broken trinkits. "Full of neat stuff huh" I laughed. "Most of this stuff is either broken, rusty, or just a complete piece of.." He interupted me before I could finish my sentance by yelling "I'm sure there is something of value here!" defensivly. As soon as Alex set foot in the old, broken down house he started to examine everything he could get his hands on. As I leaned up against the wall I asked, "How long are you going to waste my time here by sifting through this junk?" He didn't reply. Either he didn't hear me, or most likely he was just ignoring me. After about ten minites of waiting I decided I might as well take a look to see if there was anything worth keeping. I walked past Alex, who was still going through all off the junk he could find. All I could do was just laugh to myself when I saw him pointlessly searching through piles of garbage. I walked into what I thought to be a bedroom. I decieded this might be as good a spot as any to start searching. First I searched the closet. The only thing I found in there were some old, moldy clothes, a pair of must boots, and a yellowed book which I decieded to flip through. All it contained were various journal entries, nothing of particular interest, most of it was faded beyond recognision. "What a waste of time." I muttered to myself. After about twenty minuites of searching I found something that caught my eye. It was a long, flat chest made of some expensive looking wood. I opened it slowly partly due to slight suspision and wanting not to be disappointed. What I found inside were two beautiful swords that were shining as if they were new, despite the fact that they neglected for such a long time. The handles were laced with gold and silver. The blades were curved with a sharp tip, and had symbols carved into the base of the blade. If I transtlaed them right, which I am pretty sure I did, were the names of the swords, Fujin and Rajin.
I smirked to myself when I realized this was probably the only thing of value in this dump, and the fact that Alex would pretty much do anything to get a hold of one the swords. Before I had the chance to finish that thought he came through ranting on about something he found. "Dude, check out this great aromor I found!" What he was holding was a poor excuse of a breastplate. It was rusted all over and had a great number of holes in it. "Are you sure that piece of junk can even qualify as armor?" I asked wondering if he would catch on that I was makeing fun of him. Just as he finished his rambleing on about his new "armor" the front door slammed open with a thunderous bang. "I'm sorry! I did'nt know this was your house! Please don't hurt me!" Alex pleaded on his knees with his hands clasped together. "Um, Alex thats an orc." I said without the slightest hint of excitment or fear of the realising that it was the not so friendly inhabitant that had been watching us. Alex bolted up off the floor to avoid being hit by the enraged orc. "Quick! Toss me one of those swords!" He yelled while trying to his best to not become a punching bag. "Why should I? It is your fault that you got attacked, you were the one the suggested that we come here in the first place." "Come on! This is no time for arguing!" He half way pleaed as he was backing up into a corner. With out bothering to reply I quickly tossed him the sword in my right hand. As soon as he caught it he swung the blade downwards at the orc. Failing to hit him, but makeing it back away some what. The orc growled and clenched his fists together and swung at Alex's head. Luckily for Alex he was able to duck in time. With a window of opportunity opended Alex thrust the sword at an upward angle into the orcs chest, impaling it about halfway on the blade. The orc became motionless as thick black blood flowed down the sword dripping to the floor as it hit the hilt of the sword. With an akward push Alex pushed the dead orc orc of f of the blade with a slight look of disgust. Trying his best to hide his fear he started to boast about his victory. "Did you see that!? I took him down with just one strike. Wasn't much of a challenge though." "You liar. You looked like you were about to die from a heart attack." I laughingly replied. "Quick, toss me a sword!" I said doing my best to get him angry. "Now if you don't mind I would like my sword back" I told him as I was starring at it with its tip resting on the wooden floor and the hilt barely being held in his fingers. "As I see it it belongs to me. After all as you said it was my idea to come here, and if I didn't drag you here you would of never even gotten the swords." He said in a high and mighty manner. "Fine do whatever you want." I mumbeled, not exactly being in a mood to argue I decided that it would just be easier to just let him keep it. "Lets just get out of here. We should get back before our parents notice that we are missing." I said with a deep breath after getting out of the musty air inside the house.
Unfortuantely for us are parents did notice that we were missing, and when we got back the beat both of us until they decided that we wouldn't get any more ideas of sneaking out side of the village. Thankfully they were to angry to notice the things that we had brought back with us. To this day I sometimes wonder if that was a good thing that they were to angry to notice....
