History


Earth-that-was got used up. Became an uninhabitable rock.

Those that were left had no choice but to move out beyond the reaches of known space and find a new home. A star system was found with hundres of possible new Earths. They were terraformed and colonized. Some became rich and flushed with the new technologies. While others not so much. The central planets joined together to form what became known as the Alliance. They decided all the planets had to join them under their rule.

There was some disagreement on that point.

A war broke out between those for the Alliance in the Core and those opposed to it out on the Rim. After the Unification War, many of the Independents from the Rim who had fought and lost drifted to the edges of civilization. As far from Alliance control as they could get. Out on the fringes of the system people struggle to get by with the most basic of technologies. A ship will bring you work; a gun will help you keep it.

A captain's goal is simple: find crew, find a job... keep flying.

Plot


Welcome to the Firefly roleplay. As the history states, Earth got used up so humans had to move to a completely different start system.

With many planets and moons there is plenty of room for all, but most don't want to deal with each other especially after the war. That is where the smugglers come in. They will deal in the dirty dealings of those that really don't want to mess with each other, and get the job done. Of course they have to outrun the law, but when the payoff is as good as it is there is really no better life.

Our little story takes place upon a smugglers ship sixteen years after the Unification War. Despite the events of Serenity (the movie for those of you who don't know) and Miranda the alliances grip has been getting tighter, and it is now harder than ever for smugglers to earn an honest living.

As a member of the crew of Ira you will take on one responsibility from a pile of jobs. You will be an expert at what you do, and though you may be ok at something else, you will not be nearly as good as the person whose specialty it is.

The jobs are:

Captain
The captain leads the ship, and does all the dealings with those who want to hire the ship. They will be great at communicating with low lives, and earning the respect from those around them. They will be great with a gun, but will usually prefer to use words before endangering one of their own.

First Mate
The first mate takes control of the ship when the captain isn't there for any reason. They will be good with a gun, and alright when it comes to using words, but not quite as good as the captain. They have a good mind for plans, and that is only one of the reasons the captain likes having them around. They will also have the respect of the other members of the ship, but not nearly as much as the captain.

Hired Gun
The hired gun is as stated, a hired gun. Usually only is loyal to the captain seeing as they are the ones dishing out the money and pay. Great with a weapon this is usually the only reason they are on board. Not really into using words the hired gun would much rather blow some s**t up then ever try and handle a situation diplomatically. They can be great with a gun or a knife, and just ok with anything else (like you would need anything else), and they usually have a good stock of weapons in their arsenal.

Mechanic
The mechanic is a wiz when it comes to machines. Able to fix almost anything they are the life force that drives the ship. Keeping the ship up and running is their main job, and they do it like they were born to do nothing else. They are also good at fixing anything else that has moving parts. They can be alright with a weapon, but not great or really even good. They were not hired to really get involved with the actions. Of course besides machines the mechanic can be a wiz in the kitchen with fixing up some grub for the hungry crew.

Pilot
The pilot's main job is to keep the ship in the air (or lack there of in space) and make sure that they don't hit anything. Seeing as the ships main purpose is for smuggling and the like, the pilot has to do some special maneuvering to keep them out of to much trouble. Great at plotting courses that will keep them hidden from prying eyes they are usually safe from trouble. Of course when they do run into some higher beings on the imperial food chain the pilot has some tricks up their sleeves to get them out of them.

Doctor
The doctor's main job is to make sure that the crew gets medical treatment when they need it the most. Living on the edge can riddle some of the crew with bullet holes, and other wounds, so the doctor is there to fix them up and make them as good as new. A pro at what they do the doctor is able to fix almost anything, and seeing as the infirmary is most always stocked it isn't to hard.

Passengers ~Open...Kind of~
There are no rules with passengers. They can be good or bad at whatever you want them to be. Of course they must follow guild rules and not be god modders, but other then that the 'verse is the limit.
They can stay on the ship for as long as you like, and if you ask they can even become members of the crew with time. Also, if you play a passenger you can create as many as you want, well, up to three.

Please PM me with your profile before you start. Also, if a job is filled then please don't ask for it. We only need one of each.... Ok, I guess I could go with two hired guns or mechanics, but only if there are no other jobs open. But if you have an idea for another job just tell me about it, and I will let you have it.

Job: “Acting Captain”

Weapon(s): Unlike most people in her field, Pavan has chosen to specialize with a few weapons which can also be attributed to her sentimental attachment to them. Her primary weapons are the dual pistols holstered at her waist; in a fire fight her ambidexterity comes in handy, but she favors her left pistol being originally left-handed. For long range and stealth she uses a sniper rifle, but the cumbersome nature of the gun leads her to only carry it when use is necessary.
In close quarter combat, Pavan prefers to use a nine-inch Bowie knife usually sheathed in her boot but she keeps several smaller (and cheaper)throwing knives on her person so that she doesn’t need to worry about retrieving them.
As far as explosives go, she doesn’t care to use them, having little experience with them. Though, the concept of grenades is simple enough for anyone to figure out.

Appearance: In terms of stature, Pavan is on the short side of average standing five foot five inches but she carries herself with a quiet confidence that only someone with two holster guns can manage. Her olive-skinned complexion compliments her dark brown almond eyes and her dark brown hair is cut short, to ear length with bangs. It is somewhat messy, but not enough so that it would obscure her vision.
She normally wears a black, sleeveless top with dark brown pants which are often tucked into her calf-length black boots. She’s taken to wearing a semi-loose fitting , long sleeved, knitted blouse over her black top rather than a duster, which she had worn in her youth.

Personality: Growing up on an outlying ranch has lead her to keep calm in dire situations. This stems from her family’s dealing with bandits and wild animals. In her youth she wasn’t quick to anger though her rather sharp tongue and her blunt, sarcastic comments often lead to conflicts with those that do.
Time has since dulled her somewhat snarky nature and she’s become quite a bit more sociable. She has a habit of keeping things to herself and not letting many people in, emotionally, past experiences have taught her to be cautious when it comes to connecting with people. She’s not the type to spill her life story, but that’s nothing personal… she just feels it’s not anyone’s business.

Still, as acting captain she realizes that she has a responsibility to the crew and to their business contacts and while she might be guarded about her feelings, she has opened up a bit more.

History: Growing up in on a farming settlement on Beylix can be dangerous and because of this Pavan, along with her older brother Padik, grew up learning how to defend their property from bandits and their flock from the carnivorous wildlife. From an early age she was trained in how to use a rifle to defend the cattle and how to hunt with a knife, though it was her brother who taught her how to shoot a pistol.

As the younger of the two children, Pavan grew up idolizing Padik. When he volunteered to join the Independent Faction in the Unification War, she thought her couldn’t look cooler. While he was gone she practiced training herself to under the childish notion of joining her brother in the war (being eleven at the time). When he did return to the ranch towards the end of the war, he came in a box.

After her brother’s death, he parents changed drastically. He father, Allen, became more withdrawn, distancing himself from his remaining child and focusing on keeping the farm running to stave off his depression. Her mother, Ranjana, did the opposite and smothered her remaining child with affection. She finished Pavan’s schooling at home and kept her isolated on the farm for fear of her daughter leaving her the same way her son did.

When Pavan turned eighteen, she left the farm and started living on her own in one of the smaller cities, against her mother’s wishes to gain some semblance of independence and to find something worthwhile to do with her life. Far from Padik’s death deterring her from seeking adventure, it reinforced the fact that she should do something with her life. While working at a local bar she met Parker Zorsea and signed on with his crew. It seemed like just the opportunity she had been waiting for. She felt somewhat guilty about leaving her home planet (the move away from home seemed a bit more permanent when she actually left the planet), she kept in contact with her parents, sending home money to help with farm upkeep.

She spent the next decade working under Parker until the day he just left. She never quite got over his leaving, since she had come to care for him or rather develop feelings for him in a one-sided infatuation kind of way . What had started as respect turned into admiration, which turned into affection. She had idolized him the same way she had idolized her brother.

While she grown up quite a bit and matured, she still has a lingering, deep rooted hope that Parker might come back.

Appearance: Letti might be from the core, but she doesn't look it. Her eyes are a very light brown that is almost yellow, and her auburn hair is kept short, about to her chin, and shaggy as to make sure it doesn't get in her way.

She cloths her five foot nine frame in the uniform of the company she is hired out from which includes a dark leather double breasted jacket with tight light tan pants with a leather stripe, of the same color of her jacket, running up the outside of each leg. On her feet are knee high strapped and laced leather boots. When she is hired out she often wears the uniform of the company she is hired to work for unless of course they do not have one, and then she sticks to her usual getup.

Under the plain white sleeveless shirt she wears under her leather jacket is a list tattooed down the left side of her back, starting at the base of the shoulder and running down the length of her back. It is a list of every bounty she ever took in, and a reminder of her old life. The few times she goes without her jacket the top of the list can be seen, and though she never tries to hide it, she doesn't like it being brought up either.

Of course no matter who she is working for she can almost always be found with her double barrel shotgun slung across her back.

Personality: For a bounty hunter and mercenary she is actually pretty nice. When she doesn't have to kill some one she can be rather pleasant to be around, but when she is told that it is time to go to work she does exactly that.

Letti is usually not one for bonds either. She can be sweet as hell, but she is well aware that she won't be staying with one ship for very long. Though others have been known to grow fond of her she tries to distance herself for the sake of her own sanity when her contract is up. It does her no good to grow attached to people she will probably never see ever again.

History: Growing up on the core Letti was trained in the way of the Alliance, and would have fought on their side had she not been only sixteen by the time the war ended. It wasn't that she believe one side was more right than the other, it had more to do with regional loyalty. She loved her life on the core, and at the time she could not understand why other people would be upset to receive the same kind of treatment. It wasn't until she was older and word of what the Alliance had done that she began to change her tune.

Letti was born with the heart of a fighter. As a child she often would try to wrestle with her older sister or engage in the mock fights the boys her age would put on in the school yard. This behavior was distressing to her upstanding parents and unwilling, and confusing to the boys who would refuse to fight her based on the fact that she was a girl and thus not worthy of battling with them.

When she was fifteen she discovered the dueling rings. It was her time there training with people her age and older that gave her the courage to go after her bounty hunter license when she turned twenty. Something she would never even had dreamed of getting had she tucked away her love of combat as her parents would have liked her to.

After the incident on Miranda was brought to light and the names of those responsible were let out, she was one of the bounty hunters who hunted them down. It wasn't easy, but after three years of hunting and turing those in that she found, she was recognized and rewarded by the Alliance for being the bounty hunter that brought in the most heads.

Shortly after the ceremony she decided that she had had her fill of the life of a bounty hunter. Unless names were plentiful it wasn't worth it. So taking a step into a more stable career path, she became a mercenary. Not wanting to test her luck in the ports she applied to work for the prestigious Mackenzie mercenary firm. It was from the Mackenzie firm that she first got her start with Captain Zorsea and the ship Galileo.

What was only supposed to be a six month run to replace a former crew member turned into a six year trek, and her leaving the Mackenzie firm to cover the role of first mate after the captain that hired her left.

Home Planet: Born on Boros.
Resided on Bissonet for most of his adult life, is the current residence of his ex-wife and children.

Job: Mechanic

Weapon(s): A semi-automatic sidearm, which is usually more for show then anything but he is trained with it and will use it.

Appearance: 5 foot 11 inches and 185 pounds. Simon Graff is a formidable man. He’s in relatively good shape; working on the engines will do that. His brown hair is starting to thin and grey at the sideburns and he’s put on a little extra weight around the midsection from one too many beers.

The love-handles aside, Simon believes in keeping a good appearance. He combs the hair forward to cover the receding hairline and he is usually generally clean shaven, 5 o’clock shadow aside. He cleans up well enough when he’s not working. He has a nice green canvas jacket he likes to wear over his wife-beater and work pants.

When he’s at work is another case entirely. Engines and the things that keep them running are messy and dangerous, his appearance attests to that. He keeps his arms bare (and one can see his tattoos. In particular the one that is ominously crossed-out) and wears thick canvas gloves to keep him from losing a finger. Safety is important. A mechanic makes a living with his hands, and with his eyes; which is why he has a pair of work goggles that are usually dangling around his neck when he’s not using them.

Personality: Graff is… “a great guy.” As everyone who has worked with him will tell you. He might seem a little gruff on the outside; especially with how the divorce recently turned out, and sometimes his language can be a little colorful, but he’s a good mechanic who gets the job done. He’s also the first one to buy a round of drinks at the bar.

History: Like his father before him, Simon graduated as a Petty Officer in the Alliance fleet. It wasn’t because of any sense of familial honor, his father didn’t care either way, but because the Alliance offered the training and opportunities to succeed later in life when he chose to freelance as a mechanic.

The Alliance also offered stability and good company, at least in the social circles that Simon ran in. (i.e. with the engineering specialists, mechanics, and other knuckle-draggers). Simon ended up advancing to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, earning him the nickname “Chief”, after the Unification War. He was honorably discharged a few years (2515) later after finishing a final tour of duty.

With his impressive references and skill set, Simon received a job on a commercial liner as an engineer and eventually met his wife Darlene there. She was an event coordinator. The two married and permanently relocated to Bissonet to start a family. Darlene stayed at home to raise their daughters (Hailey [10], Elle [9], and Dinah [6]) and he took a job aboard a merchant ship, The Tuscalado, as their primary mechanic. The long periods of away from each other caused stress in their marriage. Darlene’s infidelity, to be more specific. Simon left The Tuscalado and set up shop as a local mechanic in an attempt to salvage his marriage only to give up two years later.

The two have recently finished their rather protracted divorce negotiations, leaving Simon desperate to get off planet. He lost the custody hearing and on top of paying child support, which he would gladly pay because he loves his daughters, he is saddled with paying Darlene alimony, something he is none too thrilled about.

Weapon(s): Does the whole ship count..... if not then daggers, the ships weapons (if it has any), a limited knowledge of guns, ancient bombs in glass vials.

Appearance: Iris stands at 5'2'' with blond hair to her mid-back that has black and purple streaks through out her hair. Eyes a deep purple color have darken with each hardship. Normally wearing baggy black pants and a skin tight shirt that would show her flat stomach which she worked hard for. As well as at least one weapon on her be it a katana or a sai. Also if ever planet side she would where her mentors old black duster that still fit her.

Personality: Iris is a caring person that treats her friends as family. If one of them is injured she'll rush them to help. If they need help shooting things she'll be there. The one problem she might have is that once you do some thing to her family she distories your whole life, though that was before and the anger management seems to be working, hopefully. Though she will forgive some times its just a matter of how close you are.

History: Her home life was difficult as in that she felt one way; like her younger sister, and her Father and Step-Mother felt another. Some would actually never believe her when she says that her father is an alliance b*****d. After men came for her sister because she would have fits, her father taught her how to be an alliance militant and how to make bombs like the ones form Earth-That-Was. When she was fifteen she learned that Lily had been murdered by her whore of a step-mother, and so Iris ran away and became a member in the underground, working her way up to a spot higher on the food chain. In the underground she met her mentor that taught her to hack and fly. After the raid that killed her mentor she left and took to flying as a pilot-for-hire.

Job: Medic (also has a background with firearms and heavy explosives)

Weapons: A pistol, twin magnums (only for show and sentimental value), an SMG, rifle, Shotgun, sniper rifle, seven throwing knives, a boot knife and a collection of grenades and heavy explosives.

Appearance: Rex is about 5'6", with an athletic build. He has a light tan, (almost dark) red hair and light blue eyes. His hair comes down to his eyes, just short enough where he doesn't have to worry about it. He has freckles and a tattoo on his right shoulder blade and a barcode (reading 13842-62597) on the back of his neck (right side). The way he dresses is casual, always trying to look nice, but feel comfortable.

Rex's common outfit consists of urban camouflaged cargo pants, suede (tan) boots, a black shirt and a grey vest. Hanging from his pocket is a chain that holds 37 dog-tags on it. He normally wears three necklaces; one with a cross, another with seven dog-tags on it and another with a ring on it, which all three are commonly hidden behind his shirt. His jacket normally conceals various weapons and tools while his shirt helps to cover his tattoos and any armor he might be wearing.

Personality: Rex is a perfectionist and has minor OCD. He is also brutally honest with his patients and his friends, often leading to their distaste to him, though he is kind and nice to anyone he meets. Of course, this means that he prefers the same treatment back. Being a perfectionist, he is often unsatisfied with his work and always puts himself down, though he doesn't bother people with his problems unless they either ask or it involves them. He is normally laid-back and submissive, unless angered or under stress, where he becomes focused and attentive. He is very good at noticing things, such as a knife imprint on a pocket or actions/moods, having great eyesight. He is very sad about his past, and slightly defensive of it. He is still angry and scared of the people that killed his crew and has been an insomniac and a little shook up (and perhaps slightly insane) ever since he escaped.

History: Rex was born on Whitefall in 2497. He was orphaned at age two and lived off of government programs and aid. One of the owners of the orphanage became his father figure, though he was an overall failure. Steve was a mechanic who was never sober, but still perfectly sociable and sane. He taught Rex the basics of mechanics, which was boring to him as Rex didn’t care how machines worked as long as they did their job, but still listened and learned. Steve basically gave up in life after the death of his wife, and warned Rex not to end up like him and to work hard. Taking Steve’s advice, Rex got straight A’s in school and accepted the free scholarship from a medical college, taking chemistry as his second major. He graduated as a medic in just two years, applying his chemistry skills to help him make dressings and medicines from raw materials in the field. His knowledge of chemistry also allowed him to make powerful explosives with basic ingredients, a hobby he picked up from high school, enjoying the thrill of destroying things. His thirst for adventure made him deny the job of a surgeon and became a field medic with a young crew. During the five years with his last crew, Rex was off of Alliance records and little is known about what happened. The whole adventure, however, has left him with a death sentence from the Alliance, plenty of guns, nightmares and a particular fear towards Reavers and the Alliance.

Personality: Rebellious, outgoing, charming, sexy, anti establishment.

History: Has an older sibling who is the "golden child". Pro Alliance family, rebellious. After training at school and being respectable companion for a year was traveling and saw an Alliance patrol wipe out a small town. She lived because her sibling was in charge and let her go. Four years later joins crew of Galileo. Appears pro Alliance/neutral (that's what is expected by Companions) but in actuality Anti-Alliance. Minimal contact with family.

Apparence: Adaline is strikingly beautiful with polished features, jungle green eyes, long dull brown hair that can mostly be found hanging in front of her face, a perfectly shaped mouth, and a killer body to go with it. And at five foot eight she isn't short for a woman either.

Adaline was brought up in a wealthy family, but when it comes to her choice of clothing it is more down to earth. Also, after running from her past she didnt' bring anything with her, so all she can get to clothe herself she has earned by working for it. Her once beautiful clothes have been replaced with worn skirts, shirts, and dresses. She looks like every other country bumpkin, and if you didn't look her in the eye you wouldn't realize how pretty she actually is.

Personality: Even though she grew up in a wealthy home she isn't spoild. Well, she was at one point, but after six years running from your past will change a person. Where she was once stuck up, she is now down to earth. Where once she followed her passions blindly, she now tries to see the outcome in advance. Her old self is completely gone, and her new self has taken over.

History: Growing up as the only daughter of a wealthy land owner on a back moon she found she had a very sheltered childhood. As a child she found herself sneaking out of the house to go explore the towns her family owned.

When she was twenty-one she found herself in a pickle when she was kidnapped by a group of thieves. In order to save her skin she decided to work a deal with them. She would tell them how to enter her fathers house, and steal all of his money, and they would get her off world. The group was impressed by her willingness to stab her old man in the back, so they let her tell them her plan.

Everything went as planned until one of them got caught. Not wanting to face the consequences of her actions she left planet, and never returned.

And that gang of thieves that lost one of their own. Well, wouldn't you know that it was Kelly and his men.

Job: CEO of Sign North

Weapon: Small hand gun, and a battalion of bodyguards

Apparence: Being the CEO of the largest black market and legal retailer in the galaxy, Nan dresses to impress. She is usually found in her official Sign North attire which consists of a dark gray suit in the chinese style, and kept closed with gold buttons.

Her faded black hair is usually done up in a bun, and held together with gold hair sticks. The eyes that were once dark blue have faded to a blue gray, and had she not started a regiment of youth boost treatment she would appear much older than she actually is. It wasn't time that got to her, it was the stress from running her fairly dangerous business, and trying to get it off the ground.

Personality: Nan is a business woman, she likes things to run smoothly, and has a fit when they don't. She is also not afraid to speak out about whatever happened and why it shouldn't have been handled in such a way. She wouldn't be the CEO of a very profitable company if she was easly pushed over.

Besides that she is also not the most trusting person either. It takes a while for her to fully trust someone and after you have her trust she is not one to easly handle betrayal. If you screw her over on a job she will hunt you down to the ends of the 'verse. Of course this also goes the other way. If you have proved yourself to her she will go easier on you, and reward you for your efforts.

History: Nan grew up on Slotter Key, Hersec Provence in the capital of Da Su. Her parents were rather wealthy, and owned the largest and most profitable land to sky transport service on the whole planet, and eventually branched out to hold offices and chains for all six of the provinces and their appointed docking space stations.

The human transportation business was not for Nan though, but she did work it until the war started. She joined up on the side of the Independence, but dropped out just as quickly and became a neutral force. She used her neutrality, and a crew of like minded people to start war profiteering, which was a nice way of saying they were pirates who stole from both sides of the war, and sold back to them. By the time the war was over she had earned enough money to buy her own fleet of ships, and was soon using Whitefall as the key to her operations. She started doing transportation, but then as her wealth grew, so did her range of offered services. Now, if you can buy it, she sells it.

Comprehensive Planetary Guide


For the RP to run smoothly it is important that we all be on the same page when it comes to the planets our ship is going to visit. Seeing as all of our characters are from the 'verse they would have some knowledge of many of the places we visit, and when they didn't they would still have the ability to look up that information. This is all very good, unless we start contradicting one another. This is what this guide is for. It will give you a list of all of the planets in our Firefly 'verse. As you will undoubtedly see from the list given some of them are from the 'verse and others are not. There is a very simple reason for that, no one has given a list of all of the planets and moons in said 'verse, so a list of all of them does not exist. Those that do exist are only about twenty to thirty planets long in a 'verse that is said to have at least seventy. This list is only trying to fill in those gaps, and give some variety to the worlds shown in Firefly, for not all of them would have been dusty rocks, or miles of cities.

If you have any planet ideas for this list please send a pm with all of the needed information and it will appear on this list.

Will we get to visit all of these worlds? Well, that is really up to you all, and how long you want to go.

Other: Terraforming had a strange effect and caused the ground to be constantly covered in fog, and turned what ground there was into mostly marshes. All cities float over the ground, and they are known for their spas and luxury resorts for the muck from the marshes has healing qualities

Other: Large alliance presence, and is mostly residential areas

Demoth

Other: With its large deposit of trees, its main industry is logging, and main export are its very trees. Many rim worlds have arid climates that trees do not take to kindly to, so they will pay a pretty penny for real wood. It is also Chris's home planet

Climate: N/A covered in fueling stations and space ports

Major Cities: None

Other: Because of its almost direct placement in the middle between the rim and the core, it is a prime location for a fueling stop, and because of the high demand the whole surface of the moon has become one huge pit stop, and they even have fueling stations floating in the orbit of the moon as well

Other: A very xenophobic moon that doesn't trust outsiders of any kind. They only deal with people from other planets when trading for goods and slaves. Has one of the highest slave populations in the 'verse, they are used for mining and combing the tundra for a special kind of fruit that thrives in the cold

Climate: Desert

Major Cities: None

Other: A safe place for people running from the law to stay for free, or it was until it was attacked by the Alliance in 2518. It was never rebuilt, or resettled, but those desperate enough will still travel there. It is located on the very edge, right next to Reaver space

Climate: Earth-like

Major Cities: Baldock-capital

Other: The battle of Serenity Valley took place here, and is where the Alliance won over the Independence. Its location between both Core and Rim make it a major shipping port both ways.

Higgins Moon

Other: Major manufacturer of mud and building supplies

Ita Moon

Other: Where all good ships go to die, it is a dumping ground for ships that cannot be fixed or sold for scrap for one reason or another. It is a black rock though, so terraforming has gone wrong, and it isn't safe to walk around without a suit

Climate: Temperate-forests and mountains

Major Cities: Westend-capital

Other: People in the hill often grab skilled folks like doctors and craftsmen for their little community

Lastway

Other: A major trading port for all things that have to do with ships. If Ita is their graveyard, then Lastway is their birthplace. Older ships can be sold for scrap, and new and used ships can be purchased as well as any part you will ever need for any style of ship

Other: One of the two most important planets in the core, it is considered the America of the 'verse. It is also where Kyleen was born

Other: Most of the planets surface is covered in thick forests. All water for the planet comes from large underground lakes which sometimes open up to the surface though giant holes in the ground. There are a few small seas, but other than that and the occasional colony it is all forest

Other: The birthplace of the Reavers, it is now a dead world covered in corpses

Muta

Other: Covered in vast oceans, what little ground there is is covered in thick jungle. What few settlements are located on Muta are on floating islands over the ocean, or in the underground cities located under the thick jungle floor

Other: New Canaan is famous for its brandy that is made with a secret ingredient that only comes from the planet

New Melbourne

Climate: Oceanic-the whole planet is covered in oceans, with many large, floating fishing communities hovering over the water

Major Cities: Etten-Leur-capital, Glever-main fishing city

Other: New Melbourne's main export is fish, and it isn't a wonder why seeing as the whole planet is a giant ocean

Nexus

Moon of Osiris

Location: Core

Alignment: Alliance

Climate: Tropical-many oceans, and forested mountain ranges with large clearcut valleys

Major Cities: Kelln-Scot-capital

Other: It is the home world of the ISC (Interstellar Communications). Any wave, any sort of ship to land, or land to ship, or land to land contact is made though the ISC network. Their monopoly over all of the communications makes them as powerful as the Alliance (in some respects) and big corporations like Blue Sun and Sign North, and even the Trade Guild itself

Alignment: Alliance

Climate: Temperate-grasslands and thin forests where they are not expansive Alliance grade cities

Major Cities: Capital City-capital, L'air Pur-blackout zone

Other: Has a very large population of wealthy Alliance citizens, but also has rougher areas known as blackout zones. It almost sports one of the, if not the most advanced school of medicine in the core, and Iris's home planet

Paquin

Alignment: Neutral

Climate: Mild, mostly grasslands and a few mountains

Major Cities: Lesset-capital

Other: The entertainment capital of the 'verse it is home to the all of the best traveling shows, and theatre troupes. Imagine Las Vagas, but a whole planet

Climate: Mild-mostly cities, very little green left

Major Cities:

Other: One of the most fashionable places in the core, it also has a crime problem around the outskirts of town

Regina

Moon of Ezra

Location: Georgia System

Alignment: Neutral

Climate: Desert

Major Cities: Paradiso, Hancock

Other: Is a large mining moon, but when it was terraformed it created the degenerative disease known as Bowden's Malady

Rosvirein

Location: Rim

Alignment: Independent

Climate: Desert-mostly desert and desert canyons, a few settlements owned by wealthy families

Major Cities: Boxmer-biggest city, Hesten-Kelly's home town, St. Clair-Adaline's father's estate/town

Other: It is a live and let live planet that is riddled with crime, that might be from the fact that it is way out on the rim, and normal rules don't apply seeing as the wealthy own all of the villages and towns, and the poor are left making the richer richer. Many people cannot support themselves and end up falling into a life of crime just to keep their families fed. It is the home world of both Kelly and Adaline

Saint Albans

Climate: Tundra-many ice covered mountains, and large ice covered valleys

Major Cities: Pajac-capital

Other: With freezing temperatures, and little to no natural resources settlers get suck here, and can't get off

Major Cities: Rosmalen-capital

Shadow

Climate: Black rock

Major Cities: N/A-when it was settled it was just small ranches

Other: One of the first targets of the Alliance, its surface was throughly bombed. As a result it can no longer sustain life and is now considered a black rock

Sign North Station

Space Station

Location: Midway

Alignment: Neutral

Climate: N/A

Major Cities: N/A

Other: The main trading hub of the Sign North Corporation, it is a space station where you can get anything and everything. Like the black market, only slightly more legitimate, it has slowly become one of the major corporations to come out of the war. That might have been partially because of Nan's, the founder and CEO, war profiteering and smuggling efforts. Sign North is now one of the leading employers of freighter captains, and almost has a monopoly over the shipping industry

Sihnon

Planet

Location: Core

Alignment: Alliance

Climate: Tropical-many lush mountain ranges, fertal valleys, and expansive oceans

Major Cities: Táiběi-capital, Chóngqìng-the mountain village where the companion school is located

Other: One of the two major core planets, it is the China of the 'verse, and the home of the most prestigious schools for companions. It is also considered to be the jewel of the core worlds

Silverhold Colonies

Location: Midway

Alignment: Alliance

Climate: Temperate

Major Cities: Derrun-capital

Other: A small moon with a large Alliance population. It is overly industrialized, and polluted

Slotter Key

Planet

Location: Rim

Alignment: Neutral

Climate: Tropical-expansive clear blue oceans, white sandy beaches, an expansive amount of islands, and a few medium sized continents

Major Cities: Seperated into six provinces with a capital for each; Coreleigh Provence-Selsen; Wickerdan Provence-Oolso; Martren Provence-Esrel; Schouw Provence-Desreal; Hesrec Provence-Da Su; and Agrate Provence-Korz' Ren. Tze'se, Coreleigh Provence was Tase's home town

Other: If Sihnon is the jewel of the core, then Slotter Key is the jewel of the rim. With expansive clear blue oceans, miles of white sandy beaches, and magnificent coral reefs it is just the place to take a nice long vacation. Thus is the reason that it is one of the largest tourist destinations in the 'verse. Its towered cities look out over the oceans while leaving much of the ground uncluttered by buildings. It is also the wealthiest and most technologically advanced planet outside of the core. It is both Tase and Nan's home world

Three Hills

Other: A poor moon with very few resources

Triumph

Other: A primitive planet ruled by religious teachings that are not the norm anywhere else

Troyen

Other: The only planet in the system not to be terraformed because it didn't have to be. Covered in ancient looking ruins it has been denied to exist by the Alliance, and left off of all the maps

Verbena

Climate: Mild-forests and grasslands

Major Cities: Venhost-capital

Other: Almost destroyed by the Alliance during the war, it is slowly being brought back to life by the Alliance and government funded programs. It is also Parker's home planet

Whitefall

Moon of Athens

Location: Rim

Alignment: Independent

Climate: Arid

Major Cities: Glizeden-capital

Other: The whole planet is owned by a woman named Patience who acts as mayor. Nan moved from Slotter Key to Whitefall so that she could house the main offices of Sign North someplace less open to the eye of the Alliance. She pays Patience a fee for housing her semi-illegal business, and is left without any trouble. Rex was brought up here

Everything Else

Money Mania


In the 'verse there are two forms of money. There is the Alliance issued credit and then the cash of the raggedy edge. Both have different denominations and units of currency.

Credits
For simplicities sake let's say that one credit is worth one US dollar and is paper money with an alliance seal
Platinum is worth ten US dollars, and is a slang term used to group large amounts of money with smaller money, ie 30 platinum for 300
There are of course regular denominations for credit; 1,5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500
Coins are also available in 10 and 50

Cashy Money
Cashy money is what is excepted on the Border Worlds. No Alliance seal, and is manufactured by private mining worlds and distributed throughout banks in the raggedy edge.
One unit of cash is equivalent to half a credit, or about fifty cents US.
They come in 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50 increments with the coins running the same.

Cash will get you whatever you need on a Border World, but nothing on an Alliance rock. Same goes for Credit. On halfway worlds, and most in-between, you would be able to exchange one for the other depending on where you were flying.

Kelly was getting tired of sitting in the port. They had been camped out there for what seemed like weeks, even though it had only been a couple of days. He was ready to get off the goddamned planet, and go do a job. Just sitting and waiting was no way to spend time, and he was getting fed up with it.

"Damn it!" he yelled as he stood up and chucked the rock he had been holding at an unsuspecting tree. The tree shock a little from the impact, and a few leaves fell off. This of course did nothing to help Kelly's need to get on the move. But instead of causing destruction, which was exactly what he wanted to do, he sat back down, pulled out his knife, and started trying to do tricks with it while he waited.

Chris watched Kelly from just inside the cargo bay doors, and once he had settled down a bit she slowly walked up behind him. He of course didn’t hear the pitter patter of her feet seeing as he was so intrawled with what he was doing that it was all to easy for her to just stand behind him for a minute.

“Your gonna cut your fingers off,” she said right in his ear. She had slowly bent down right next to his face just so she could do this.

"Gorrammit gurl!" Kelly yelled as he jumped slightly in surprise.

The sudden fright had made him lose his concentration, so the knife that had just been tossed came back down, and instead of being caught like it should have, it fell, and cut right into the meaty flesh of Kelly's hand.

Crying out in pain Kelly jumped up, and grabbed his bleeding hand. "Look what you made me do," he yelled at her and then a stream of cusses escaped his lips.

"I'm real sorry," Chirs said in her own defence, but she did feel rather bad about what her little joke had caused. Then to try and make it up to him, she reached down and picked up his knife.

"Here ya go," she said as she handed it to him.

Kelly snatched the knife out of her hand with his good one, and then raised it at her real threatening.

"Don't you ever pull crap like that again, gurl!" he said as he filled his voice with malice. He then sheathed up his knife, and headed to the infirmary to clean up the mess she had caused him.

When he got to the infirmary he saw the doc wasn't there, so he started going through the drawers until he found a bandage, and after a good cleaning he started rapping up his hand. Cuts like the one Chris had caused him were nothing new, so it was only a little while before he had finished rapping, and made it almost as good as new.

"God damn gurl doesn't know when to keep her trap shut," he said as he tied off the bandage, and then cut the excess with his knife. Once he was satisfied he dropped the bandage down on the counter, and left.

Pavan watched the exchange between her two crew mates and rolled her eyes as Kelly stormed off to the infirmary.
"Did the captain say when they were going to be back," she asked the younger woman.
The captain and the first-mate had gone into one of the pubs in the port after recieving a message about a job, that had been nearly two hours ago.

"Huh?" Chris asked a bit puzzled as she turned and saw Pavan. Then the question registared and she said, "Oh, the capin'. He'll be back shortly. He said they would be back in about two hours."

((We are getting a captain!))

Kelly walked back out of the cargo bay and called out to Pavan and Chris, "Got a call from the captain," he told them. "We're leavin' in five, so get ready."

Then out of the corner of his eye he saw something coming towards them. From the distance he couldn't tell who it was, or what, so he called out, "We got company!" He then pulled out Ray ((yes, that is her name)) and aimed it at the object that was coming towards them. He wouldn't fire until he knew what it was, but there was nothing wrong with being ready.
