I know a fair number of lesbian who love Yaoi so it isn't strange at all. I also know straight girls who like shoujo-ai and the like. Enjoying a show of some sort does not really effect your sexuality.

Not weird at all. In fact, many, if not most, writers of shojo-ai and yaoi are lesbians or are in lesbian relationships. 3nodding

Shounen-ai and yaoi are actually very patently inaccurate depictions of malexmale couples. 8D;
That being said, I think just about anyone who likes the concept of two (non-male) people banging can enjoy yaoi.

Actually, according to an interview I read with the author of Carmilla, an erotic magazine for Japanese lesbians, a very large amount of Japanese lesbians do enjoy yaoi too. And aside from that but sort of related, according to On Our Backs, an erotic magazine for lesbians in the west, a large portion of lesbians watch gay porn too.
I'm not really sure what the draw is, but I can say that I do read and enjoy yaoi too. For me, it does help that the boys are all lithe and soft and hairless... and sometimes with invisible penises even lol
Especially with something like anime and manga, gender becomes somewhat irrelevant when you're simply observing pictures on a screen or in a book. You can enjoy the eroticism for its own sake.

I actually have a lot of yaoi novels that are really hot. I still consider myself to be a full lesbian.
Yaoi really does rock. But lesbian sex is still the hottest. Lol

Yaoi seems to be the new anime craze... I am forced to live within the walls of anti everything people.. but one of my lil sis's friends is mormon.. an she loves the stuff.. sad and yet very crazy. it has corrupted to so called ''uncorupt'' ahaha finnall something to do so rofl
