I've been doing this for, ooh, say, about a year? I'm happy to say I've wasted a ton of time on it. But it's still very fun, and can help develop characters. Well, so, here's the activity. They're called 'Song fics' on Fanfiction.net, but I've been doing them for original fiction. You take a song that you like or that fits your character, assign roles, and mess with the lyrics. It can be sad, up-beat, or just really funny - simply the character who sings a particular line can be hilarious. The best one I've done so far was for a fanfic, so I won't post it, but it was a version of Meatloaf's Paradise By The Dashboard Light, retitled 'Paradise by the Cold Dawn Light' for the sake of night elves. It also runs several pages, so we won't go into that one. Instead, here's a Foxglove version of D-Techno Life by UVERworld, better known as the third opening song for the anime Bleach. You can listen to it here - yes, it's not the best quality, but it was the first one at hand... I'd do a better known song, but I want a quick and fully-changed lyric one as an example. I don't totally like this one... but it'll do as an example. So: Ooare D-TECHNOLIFE - FOXGLOVE MAIN STRING VERSION[Yogan] I never would have dared to think that this would ever go this far,

'he' or 'you' that they refer to is Shigure. They're kind of like his minions. The 'thank god it was just a dream' refers to the fact that Ike tends to have very, very scary dreams of this nature. And finally, to make our entries a bit more uniform: A name in [square brackets] denotes the character singing it. 'Chorus' just means a random back-up chorus. [name (other name)] means that, in this passage, name sings things without brackets, and (other name) sings things in brackets, but is mainly providing a backup. For example: Quote: EXCERPT FROM 'BUTTONS' (THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS), FANFICTION VERSION[Drisana (Hellbourne)] Come on baby loosen up my buttons babe!
(Loosen up your buttons girl?)
Baby won’t you loosen up my buttons babe?
(Why can’t you leave me alone?)
Come on baby loosen up my buttons babe!
(Is this some sort of joke on me?)

(Get the grack out of my Elune-damn life.) Without another name in brackets, lyrics in brackets just mean that they're said 'aside'. And finally, another word in square brackets, like [spoken] means that the previous speaker is singing it in a different way. For example [heavy metal scream], [whispered] and the like. So... I hope you have fun. I did. ^.^ Maybe I'll put a few more up here some time.

Are you aware of the Ky-ky's fascination with Meatloaf, in particular the song "Paradise by the Dashboard Light"? Actually, I just now listened to it... twice. xd

Lone![Aka] Now you know what you did, so good luck with the guilt… Right, let's see here... the first verse refers to Shigure and Kokoro's relationship - she actually did forget he existed, turned herself into an avenging warrior for her family, and stabbed him. That's what the whole 'see my blood' thing is about. The second verse is about Fubuki's second wife, who he dearly loved but outlived as naturally goes. Aka's comment - 'you always knew she would die' - is particularly cruel, and was originally spoken by Shigure. The last verse is Shin breaking up with Hannah over Christmas after they have a row. Poor guy wanders out into the snow and discovers religion. He's one of very few religious characters in any of my stories, and one of only two Christians. You also get a free gawp at Shin's horrible, horrible accent - he even sings with it! Incidentally, when I listen to this song, I still hear 'I don't wanna be alone' even through it's supposedly 'I don't wanna be in love'. Whatever. They need to sing clearer. By the way, Raincrow? Love this bit:
