"Toshimi! What did you do with my Culinary Arts notebook?!" Lyra asked.
"I put it next to your stuff!" Toshimi replied. Lyra walked over to her bookbag and saw her notebook. Toshimi walked over to her.
"Don't you have an exam in there today?" Toshimi asked.
"Yeah and an art exam and a chorus exam." Lyra replied.
"You have exams in Chorus?"
"It's kinda like Karaoke, but we pick the song and we have to sing it for Ms. Via."
"What song did you pick?"
"I picked two actually. She never approved the song I would sing."
"Well What did you pick?"
"I picked Behind These Hazel Eyes and Give 'Em Hell Kid"
"So Kelly Clarkson and My Chemical Romance. Nice choices."
"Yeah, and I have to bake and apple pie for Culinary Arts and draw a portrait of a hero for Art."
"You picked Isis, right?"
"Of course."
"Whatever, Lyra." Toshimi walked into her room and Lyra shoved her stuff in her bag. She stood up and stretched. She sat her bag by the door and went over to the couch to sit down.
"I can't wait till exams are over." she thought.

Scott came up the steps in a panic, knocking on the apartment she was in without even realizing he was probably knocking on her place of residence. Of all the times to leave his costume behind! Can't use powers. Have to resolve this without powers.

Flame and the smell of wet fox pervaded, even under the doorway. It was her all right. Come on, don't do something stupid... Dammit, I knew she was going to break down, but this is ridiculous!

"I know she's here, and I know something's wrong," Scott said. "I've come to help, and anything that happens will be between us and the walls."

He took a deep breath. "And for what it's worth, I'm sorry to have caused this."

Scott raised an eyebrow. Kitsune Isis. Didn't it just figure she was a member of the Spandex Brigade too. "Right. Sure, whatever." Scott caught his breath again. "So would you care to explain why all of a sudden you went up like a beacon? I mean, not that I'm not used to getting my drinks dumped on me by you, but hey, if you're gonna add injury to insult, why not do it in public?"

What was he saying? He shook his head to clear it. Calm down, Scott. Pull it together. "Dammit, I thought you'd just lost it or something!"

"Gee, I'm touched." Scott canted his head, and the sarcasm was evident. "Well, if you're absolutely sure you won't be burning down the house anytime soon, I've got to go finish off this crapstorm of a day."

A small, faked smile.

"Yeah, sure, I'll believe that when I see it. I'm only unarmed and unpowered."

And then he saw the news broadcast. And there was the Spandex convention, fighting for their lives. Dammit.

He wasn't going to give a damn. he wasn't. He didn't even have his costume today.

He was all the way out of the apartment building when his conscience set him heading for his duffel. Stupid ethics.

Lyra's cell phone began to ring. She mumbled under her breath and rolled over and reached for her cell phone.
"Hello?" she answered, tiredly.

"Hello Lyra, Its Hayden." Lyra quickly sat up.

"Hayden, why are you calling me?"

"You missed about 5 hours of work today."

"I know, but something came up."

"I know, but I'm giving you a chance to make up those hours."

"Well, I said I'd work overtime."

"You're not working overtime, you're doing the night shift tonight?"

"Night shift? As a waitress?"

"No, you'll be on drive thru tonight. You'll work as drive thru for about 3 hours. For the other half your the parking lot waitress. Your shift will end at 6."

"Then I have to work at 6 normal time?"

"No you'll work the 9-5 shift."

"Ok, well I'll be right there. Oh by the way, is the uniform dress code the same?"

"Sorta, you just won't be wearing an apron so wear something appropriate. You still have to wear your hair up though."

"Ok, thanks Hayden."

"No problem Lyra, Bye."

"Bye." Lyra hung up and went to her closet. She pulled out a yellow dress shirt that showed her stomach. She slipped it on and tossed her tanktop over to her bed. She went over to her dresser and sliped off her white sweatpants. She picked up the yellow pants on her dresser and slipped those on and a pair of yellow socks. She yawned and grabbed her uniform to take it back to her locker. She grabbed a Stop&P bag and placed her uniform in it. She sat the bag on the couch and grabbed her bright yellow shoes and slipped them on. She walked over to the mirror and grabbed a hairband out of the bag and pulled her hair into a messy bun. She walked into her sisters room.
"Hey Toshimi, Hayden called, she wants me to work tonight." Toshimi nodded and Lyra walked out, grabbing her blue jacket.
