Still battered and bloody from his fight with the muggers, but nevertheless still intact- and bandaged to boot thanks to the efforts of a local 'mask-friendly' doctor, Scott walked into the Chicken Wing looking little the worse for wear in his turtleneck, ready for another of his favorite rituals.

"Hey, Lyra," he greeted. "So, tell me, how many lines did you do today? Finally get that quality mirror?"

"Welcome to Chicken Wing? How may I help you?" oh how she hated that greeting.
"Lines?" Lyra asked. She completely forgot.

"You know, for the coke?" He'd never learned how much drugs she took daily yet, but there was absolutely no way she had enough time in the day for all the things she claimed to do.

"Scott, I'm not on drugs. So did you come here to eat, or just to torture me?" Lyra hated when he asked her that.

"You know, you keep saying that. So I suppose I'll just have to wait for the nervous breakdown. Seriously, when do you sleep? Are you like, some kind of robot?" He paused, considering this. "And, if you are, do you use your powers for good or for awesome?"

He finally grabbed a menu off the podium and went to find a seat.

"Scott, I sleep when everyone else does. I sleep at night. I mean why would I use drugs. I wouldn't want to risk losing my job, or being kicked out of school." Lyra grabbed her checks and followed him.
"So what would you like to eat?" she asked.

Scott smirked as he walked to the gigantic corner booth. "Methinks the lady doth protest too much. Was I too close with that robot crack?"

Scott's brow knotted for a brief half-second. He paused before sitting down. "Has anyone ever told you that you smell like wet fox?" And again, that odd instinct that there was fire here. "Are you some sort of wet-fox-powered robot?"

He opened the menu, which had a conspicuous lack of what he was about to order. "I'll take the chicken milkshake."

Lyra blushed.
"Wet fox?!" Lyra screamed. She quickly calmed herself down. She sighed. "That will be $2.99." Lyra gave him his check and went to get his milkshake.
"That Scott, I'll get him back. One of theses days, I swear it."

The sense of fire faded as Lyra walked away, as did the smell of wet fox. That was something to tag away for future reference.

And, oddest of odd things, the check felt of it too- though much, much less than Lyra herself had. Mysteries upon mysteries. Scott closed his eyes and concentrated on the feeling.

He sensed the kitchen flames, burning brightly, making their char-broiled fare. He sensed the seething, smoldering rage of Lyra and a... stranger fire. Scott opened his eyes. "Whoa."

What was going on with him?

Another waitress returned to receive payment.
"Hello sir. I'm here to collect your pay. You can leave anytime, but we like to have our pay as soon as possible." she said.

Lyra on the otherhand was in the back, planning her revenge.

"Tch. Fine," Scott said, a little annoyed at being treated like a hooligan. It was expected in the restaurant, but still, it was a policy he did wish the manager would revise. He put the three singles on the table.

Of course, she'd try something with his order. Scott saw it coming, which was why he extended this... new sense? it seemed as good a name as any- to try and figure out when she'd be back. Ah, she was done. Which meant that it was high time for him to slip off to the bathroom.

"Thank you." The other waitress walked back into the kitchen.

Lyra took a deep breath and finished his milshake. She snickered over her plan. She walked out of the kitchen and over to Scott.

"Seems a little odd for you to deliver it so directly," Scott noted, as he was walking towards the restroom. "You seem... A little angrier than usual. Is something wrong? Did I go through it in the wrong order again?"

The anger was even hotter now, it was like he could feel it. And the smell of fox was even brighter, as the deeper flames... seemed to wait for something. "Are you okay?"
