Kirei-Chi was looking for something to eat. She hadn't had any luck all morning, and it looked like it might be the same for the afternoon. Walking silently on the thick, pine-needled carpet of the forest floor, stealth couldn't be her problem. It seemed as if all of the animals just knew she was there.
Sighing in exasperation, she plopped her body onto the ground and lay down for a moment. She was tired, and also thirsty. Honing her keen senses on listening for any water nearby, and was rewarded by the sounds of rushing water maybe a half mile away.
She picked herself up and started off in the direction the sound of running water was coming from.

Hitomi was padding through the dense woody area, exhasperated. Forest?! AGAIN?! I hate trees..... She thought to herself as she picked up her pace and shifted to an easy lope. The needles on the ground were satisfying to kick up, but Hitomi was far too sophistocated to preform such things for childish amusement.
She began to pant slightly, and lifted her delicate head to the wind in search for something that could quench that irksome thirst in the back of her throat. Though the air circled her in an unfavorable manner, she still caught the scent of fresh water, and when she closed her eyes, she could hear it too.
Hitomi slowed to a walk as she leaned over the edge of a brook, trying her best not to soak the golden hair hanging down her face. As she looked up, oblivious to the water that had clung to her muzzle, she felt the sensation of another's apporach.

About to step out of the safeness of the trees, Kirei saw the brook ahead, and also... another Ulaya? She hadn't been very quiet about walking towards the stream, so she figured she must have been heard. If not heard then scented.
She stepped out from the trees like meeting another Ulaya in the middle of the forest was no big deal.
"Hello," she said, getting a good look at the new face. It was a very pretty female, with long hair like her own. It was the first time she had seen anyone that had such long hair; aside from herself that was.
Not wanting to seem to eager to start up a conversation, Ki-Chi stepped up to the edge of the brook and began to lap up some water with her delicate pink tongue, glancing at the stranger every now and then.

Hitomi started. She hadn't been expecting this visitor, "Who are you?" she asked, tactless, a sign she was caught off gaurd. She tilted her head and looked the female over, this was the first to have hair almost as long as hers, but the other Ulaya's was shorter and ended in a neater point. Also, she seemed to be the only one so far that was dressed, in any way other than simple jewellery.
Hitomi sat and tilted her head as she began to recede into her own world of thoughts and contemplations as she wondered about what Ulaya she might come across next, almost forgetting the one right in front of her.

"I'm Kirei-Chi." She said as she lifted her head from the water. She backed up a pace or two to be at a comfortable distance from the other Ulaya. She didn't want to have to shout at her to be heard.
"What's your name?" Kirei-chi couldn't help but stare at this Ulaya. She now noticed that she had some sort of jacket over her beautiful coat... it looked somewhat strange for a Ulaya to be wearing clothing, but it suited this one well.

"Hitomi," she said simply, however this 'Kirei-chan' made a smile spread across her face. She noticed her stare, but didn't mind it at all. She was proud of the way she looked, or vain, as some had called her.
"So what brings you here Kirei-chi?" Hitomi asked, she smile not leaving her face as she spoke.

"I've been hunting all day to no avail." Ki-Chi said as she shook her head. "I got thirsty and heard this stream. It wasn't too far, so I made my way over here. What about you?"
Out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw something in the water. She looked more intently at the stream, trying to see what it was. "Oh look, there's soem fish in the stream... maybe I can catch one and finally end this hunger I've had all morning..." She gave a sheepish smile to Hitomi.
She stalked over to the very edge of the stream closer to the fish. She watched them for a moment to see if there were any movement patterns. She held one paw right above the fish, waiting for the perfect time to strike. Like lightning, her paw entered the water, her claws extended. She was satisfied to see a medium sized fish flopping on the ground next to her. She put her paw over it to keep it still, and grinned at Hitomi once more. "Want to share?" she asked.

Though Hitomi's face showed no intrest, her ears rose immediatley at the sight of the fish. She sat where she was in an attempt to look too regal for such a lowely meal, however the loud, audible noise of her belly rumbling gave her away.
She blushed in embarrasment as she looked at her stomach, then looking away, she said, "Umm....I guess it wouldn't be so bad to share...."

Kirei-Chi held the fish down with one paw on its tail, and used a claw from her other paw to divide it in the center. "Heads or tails?" She asked, laughing. She wasn't really partial to fish, but if hunting small furries didn't wrok out well, it was an easy meal... if you had the hang of fishing.

Hitomi looked the fish over. Food went in one end, and came out the other.....She'd prefer where it went in. "Head, if I may," she said, staring intently at Kirei-Chi and wondering how one almost as pretty as her was not being waited on, but that she hunted for herself.
Perhaps she too, should learn how to fish. She had the baisics of hunting and capture.....After all, she'd had to get her pendant back before, but never had she needed to fish.

Kirei-Chi swatted over the upper end up the fish and delicately began to eat her own. She wondered what the quizzical look Hitomi had given her was, but decided against asking.
"So, what were you doing all the way out here? Hunting perhaps?" Ki-Chi asked. She wasn't usually so blunt and outgoing. She hoped Hitomi didn't think she was being rude. Despite not knowing her very well, Ki-Chi found her self wanting to be friends with Tomi-chan.

Hitomi began to gnaw on the fish when the question was posed, so she started to choke it down, which proved harder than expected, and panted when it was down. After lapping up some water to soothe her now scratchy throat, she cleared it and said, "I was actually trying to get out of this dreadful forest.....Too many trees....And yes, I do realize that's the point of a forest."
Upon saying the last part, a smile spred across her face and she chuclked as she went back to eating and finishing her fish.

"Oh," Ki-Chi said, slightly taken aback. "Are you lost? I'm actually thinking of getting out of here myself. I need to be in the sunshine... and I'm not sure how much more of that is left." Ki-Chi looked up to the sky, to see if she could tell how much time was left before the sun went down. The leaves were thick though, and she could only see a shimmer of light ehre and there. "Want to walk out together?"

Hitomi took another look at this girl. Normally she didn't like company, but Kirei-Chi was nice enough, and she was pretty enough to not make Hitomi look bad. So she smiled and nodded, standing and adjusting her clothing alittle before they set off.
As they began to set off, her head would turn periodically to take in the surroundings and watch the scenery go by.

Walking at a leisuruly pace, Kirei-Chi listened to all the sounds the forest was making; birds chirping, wind blowing through the trees. She liked the forest, but preferred being in the sunshine.
"Are you headed anywhere in particular?" Ki-Chi asked suddenly.
