The shore is close enough to the Weyr that it acts as a Weyr Lake. Dragonriders come here to bath their dragons and relax while candidates come here to swim and have fun.
Sometimes shipfish, or dolphins, come up and interact with humans.

Lyr'sa leaned back against the warm hide of her dragon and closed her eyes. She could feel the warm sun beating down on her skin and she frowned. She didn't want to be here. It didn't matter that 'Ran and brought her to the farthest and most private part of the beach. She didn't want to be here. She wanted to be back in her Weyr, thinking about V'nar. Lyr sighed and looked out over the water.
Stop feeling sorry for yourslef. You needed to see the sun, breath sea air, feel sand between your toes. I will not let you wallow. There is no point.
Lyr humphed and crossed her arms.

Astroth and Talia popped out of between in the air not too far from where the former Weyrwoman was.
Astroth, dear, will you please ask Byranth if it is alright for us to intrude?
I'd be more then happy to. Astroth said.
Byranth, is it alright for Talia and I to land?

Byraneth lifed her huge wedge-shaped head and nodded, a human characteristic she had picked up from Lyr. Gladly. Maybe you two can get her out of her funk.
Lyr raised her arms slowly and picked up her sliver hair, warping it aroudn itself in the form of a knot, tyrign to get it off her neck.

Thank you. Astroth replied as she began her descent.
I take it that we're allowed to land. Talia said, recieving a mental nod from her dragon.
Astroth landed gently near their superiors. Talia dismounted and gave Astroth an affection pat before heading off to see Lyr.
"Greetings Lyr." Talia called out, "I hope that I am not intruding on anything."

Lyr stifly shook her head, her muscles still sore even though she was soaking in the sun. "No. Just an old rider soaking sun because her dragon wouln't shut up if she didn't." Lyr said.
Yes a cranky, annoing old rider. Byraneth said so Talia and Astroth could hear as well.
"Shuddup you old nag. You're just as old as I am." Ley said and let her hair flwo out of her hands.

Talia restained herself from laughing. "You aren't that old Lyr. Many riders have lived to older then you."
Neither of them are old. Astroth commented to her rider.
"Astroth agrees with me. Neither of you are old."

Lyr'sa looked at the young girl who had replaced her. "Not here, not this last year. And not for very much longer. The average age of lucky riders durring the last fall was 40 turns and I'm 20 more than that." Lyr looked out at the shimmering sea. "Face if girly we're ancent." She said with finality.
Byraneth shook her head. She's been a bad mood for so long. She said to Astroth.

"Well, the disease seems to have left us, and you don't have to face Thread unless you want to. So, you could possibly live for many more years." Talia said.
It seems as though Lyr as been down for a while. Astroth told her rider, who made a mental note of it.
"Lyr, you know me. If you were old, I would say it with no reservations. I'm an honest person. Let us not talk about age and anymore, they are depressing subjects." She said, trying to life the mood.

Lyr bit back the depressiong retort that was on the tip of her tounge and nodded. He picked up a handfull of sand and let is run through her fingers. "I wish you luck Talia." She said softly as she watched the sands run through her fingers. So like time...the sand was.
Byraneth snorted. Somtiems, even after all these years, she still didn't get Lyr.

Talia sat down next to the older woman.
"You miss V'nar, don't you?" She asked softly.
Talia knew that Lyr and V'nar had been together for many Turns, and it Lyr must've taken it hard. Talia couldn't imagine how that must feel; she and her own Weyrleader still were a little distant from each other.

Lry bit her lip and tryied to stop herslef from blinking. It didn't work and the stupid sudden tears started to fall. She looked away from Talia, ashamed at the tears more than anything. V'nar...Even hearing his name was like picking at a still open wound. Her chest hurt each time she thought of him and it was hard to breath each time his name came up...
"V'nar..."he was more than Weyrleader to my Weyrwomen...he was my Weyrmate. Amazing, smart, hansom, thoughtfull. He was my other half... Lyr'sa sighed and ran a hand through her silver hair. "V'nar...was more than my Weyrleader...I-loved him. And yes...I miss him." Lry'sa said the last part softly, not wanting to admit it to herself. It had been almost two turns and it still hurt to think about him...
Byraneth moved her head around and rubbed it gently along Lyr's side humming gently.

Talia gently placed a hand on Lyr's back and rubbed it. Astroth came over and lowered her head.
"I can't imagine how you feel. I know that he was a great Weyrleader and he is greatly missed by everyone." She said softly.

Lyr raised her hed and looked at the light reflecting off the water through her tear blurry eyes. "I hope that someday you become as close to someone as I became to V'nar."
Byraneth hummed contently. Feeling better?

"I hope so too. What you had with V'nar was special and something to be envied." Talia replied, feeling a little pang in her heart as she realized what she was lacking.
