A little ways off from the Weyr is a small valley where herdbeast and wherries are kept for the dragons. This place serves as the Weyr Bowl.

T'cat strolled across the Weyr bowl his hands stuffed lazily in the make shift pockets on his holliet pair of wherhide pants. The day was warm as usual too warm in T'cat's opinion for shoes or a shirt. His white chest stuck out against the dark color of his pants almost making him glow. As he walked a large canine, respectively known as Yerd, zoomed past him and towards the Wherry flock a good two dragonlength's away. The wherries immediately began to squawk and run about randomly in alarm. T'cat laughed heartily as Yerd grabbed one of the wherries by the tailfeathers and shook the large bird.
A few moments later a medium sized blue dragon flew straight over T'cat's head and reached it's back talons out for the wherry Yerd had captured. The dragons talons attached to the wherries body seconds before he landed and Yerd released his grip on the wherry and zoomed off towards the flock again causing another uproar just as the first had ended.
T'cat gave the blue a loud applause as he walked closer and then placed his hands back into his pockets. "Bravo bravo! I can see your taking full advantage of Yerd's wherry capturing skills for your lazy self, Filth."
What can I say? He is better at capturing them than I am. Why miss half the time when you have a canine running around and capturing them for you? Filth snorted at T'cat and began to rip into the wherries flesh.
"Yeah sure. You're just lucky I trained him to let go of them and not fight you for the prize or you'd have to fight him for everyone of them." T'cat replied but Filth did not reply. He was now ignoring his rider and enjoying the fresh meat.

It was then that a small emerald green dragon took advantage of the situation that the dog was causing among the wherries to take one for herself and settled down not to far away from where the blue and his Rider. Thank you , she called, nodding to them in respect before settling down to enjoy her meal.
F'ina, however was not at all impressed by this display and raised an eyebrow as she approached a small frown on her face. I wonder if that blue ever hunts...one does not get far in life by letting someone else do all the work.
But one should, and can, take advantage of a situation when it presents itself. We've been doing that since I hatched, and look where it's gotten us. the dragon quipped back at her. There's a difference between being lazy and being smart.
"Good point." F'ina chuckled a little, watching the dog as it caught another wherrie. Shaking her head in silent disapproval, she began to check over Kimath to make sure all was in order. Before once more assuring herself that wasn't anything out of place. She'd just been promoted after graduating the top of her class from weyrling to Assistant Weyrlingmaster, and it brought her much pride....and stress. She'd been told there was to be a new Weyrlingmaster coming from another Weyr, and she was to meet him, and his dragon soon and was concerned she and Kimath about looking thier best, making a good first impression.

Filth had half his scarffed down when the green settled down and began to eat on hers. Filth nodded to the younger green and went back to his own meal paying no attention at all to any of the others about.
T'cat couldn't help but chuckle at the young green's actions. So Filth wasn't the only one willing to take advantage of an easy meal. Yerd did know how to rile up those wherries after all. Was one of the funner games the canine enjoyed. However at times he did like to get carried away and about chase the wherries from the valley.
This would happen to be one of those times too. T'cat was quick to act as he put two fingers between his lips and let out a whistle shirl enough to hurt even the ears of a human. "Yerd! Get back here now!" T'cat yelled at the excited canine. Yerd took a few moments trying to decide if he wanted to continue torturing the wherries or go back to his master. Finally he did the right thing, turned about and started back for T'cat.
T'cat nodded confidently at Yerd. Yerd knew well that if he didn't come back them Filth would be sent after him and that would not make for a very happy Filth at all. Now sure Yerd was on his way back T'cat turned his attention to the rider of the green and smiled at her. "A beautiful green you have there." He said before stepping over to the woman and holding out his hand. "I'm T'cat and that scaley blue wherry over there is Filth."

F'ina was inspecting an old wound on Kimath's hind leg, making sure it was still healing properly when she heard someone come over, and she knew it had to be the blue's Rider, which she'd not actually paid much attention to, admittedly. Though she was polite to everyone, she largely kept to herself and let others well enough alone as well, respecting their privacy. Looking around she was absolutely shocked to see how torn and ragged his clothing looked, and further up, how...white...his chest was. The light spattering of freckles seemed about the only thing toning down his 'glow'. And his uncombed red hair...well, she ran out of words to describe what she thought of him at that moment.
A flash of disapproval shown on her face before she could contain it and give him a polite smile, and returned his handshake with a firm one of her own, hoping he'd leave her alone soon. "Thank you, she certainly is." Turning back to her inspection (mostly hoping he'd leave her alone if she looked busy) she asked Kimath, How can one become a Rider looking like that? It's appalling! I think it's pretty safe to say he's not the new Weyrmaster...no one would promote him looking like that, and with such a lazy dragon. Being a Rider is a privedge and the honor should be treated as such. Her complaints recieve nothing more than a mental nod of agreement from the dragon as she ate.

T'cat certainly didn't miss the look of disapproval that came across her face. His weyrlingmaster training helped him to see all even the hidden on a persons face and with Weyrlings if you didn't know the ones that were going to be the most trouble by the first time you met them, even if they were the politest at first impression, then you never knew who needed the most correcting kick. Of course even without his training he knew those disapproving gazes more than anyone. His appearance always seemed to get those type of looks.
When the woman went back to inspecting her dragon T'cat still did not move. He was persistant and he at least wanted her name. He'd given her his after all. "So you got a name to go with that smile?" He asked trying to hide a smug smile. He knew well she was wanting him to go away but it was the ones that wanted him to go away he bothered the most.
Filth finished his wherry with a nice loud dragon burp. Yum.

Oh great...couldn't he get a hint?? F'ina sighed and mentally rolled her eyes as Kamith mentally chuckled at the action. Looking up at T'cat she gave him another smile, this one a little colder as she said, "The name's F'ina...and this is Kamith." Returning to her inspection, she continued, "I'm sorry, but we're a little busy at the moment. We have a meeting to attend to soon, and I need to see that all is in order before then...So, if you'll excuse us..." She hoped giving a more forward approach would give him the hint to leave.
Hmmph, snorted Kamith, when Filth burped, the feelings of F'ina slowly becoming her own. I guess manners are lost on them...

T'cat gave F'ina a very smug grin having got what he wanted from her. Now that he had it he would take her rude hints and go. "Nice meetin' ya F'ina. Perhaps we'll see each other around later." He replied before he turned on his heels and used his index finger to motioned Filth up and then he made a circling motion using the same index finger. Filth watched his signals closely and nodded. Tensing up his back legs and raising up his wings Filth launched himself into the air with a mighty back wind following him.
Filth flew high using the updrafts until he was a good hundred, two hundred feet above the ground. There he circled the wherries watching them closely. All the wherries had settled back now that Yerd had taken to T'cat's side so now they were much easier to pin in on just one. Once he had selected a juicy looking wherry he brought in his wings and dove. In his dive he began to spin his whole body using his wings to control the speed of the spin right along with his balance. He was soon spinning so quickly it didn't seem as though he could pull out of it quick enough to keep from hitting the ground much less catch a wherry.
However less than twenty feet from the ground he pulled out of the spin, managed to right himself and nail the wherry he had been after just before he landed on the ground. The other wherries ran squawking and Filth gave a triumphant roar. He had been practicing that manuver since he had gotten good at flying as a weyrling. It was one of his fancier ones and he loved using it to show off.

When he walked away, F’ina looked around to see if that’s for sure what he was doing, wondering if instead he’d gotten it in his head to do something else to annoy her. Male Riders, in her opinion could be a very…weird bunch at times, and half the time it seemed even verbal obvious hints had a hard time burrowing far enough into their brain for them to comprehend it. Not that she had a low opinion of guys, just…her experiences with them (outside of her brothers and father) hadn’t been extremely pleasant to say the least. She gave a mental sigh of relief, however, to see that perhaps this one was much smarter than the immature ones she’d dealt with her nearly 2 years as a candidate and then 2 years of training she’d just endured. Maybe there was hope for them after all.
However, she was curious to see Filth take off right then, and turned to watch him closely. It wasn’t until her gasp of surprise that Kimath swallowed the last of her wherrie and looked around in alarm in time to see Filth pull out of his dive and nab a wherrie with no mishap. “Hmm…perhaps there is more hope for you than I thought,” F’ina said with a smirk. To Kimath she added, I wouldn’t mind challenging him….
To what? Besides, remember challenging him would require spending more time around him.
Eek….ok, maybe not.
I, however, wouldn’t mind trying that move during a mating flight…
KIMATH!!!
What? It’d be fun….
The thought of what a mating flight might do to her and the outcome actually made F’ina visible cringe. Please, don’t make me spend anymore time than I have to with this guy…he creeps me out. Ok, sure…Filth has talent. But look at his Rider! Arrogant as hell, unkept…I’d hate to see what his weyr must look like…. The fact that greens were notorious for sexual innuendos and actions hadn’t been lost on F’ina, and she always hoped her dragon would choose someone with a handsome Rider…with her luck Kimath just might choose Filth, or else be unlucky enough to be caught by him….oh well, she would deal with that when the time came. Until then, she would discourage this behavior in hopes that something…someone…better might come along.

T'cat strode over to one of the trees that lightly littered the valley and sat down with his back to it and a smug smile plastered to his face. He could see that F'ina and Kimath were impressed by Filth's manuvers and that made him happy. What they thought of him didn't matter to him at all but what they felt towards Filth was important. The riders appearance was not important in his mind it was the skills of the dragon he rode that were very important and that was what T'cat had centered his training with Filth on. Filth's skills mattered more than his. Filth was after all the one doing most of the work in thread fall. He was flying, evading and flaming and as long as he as the rider did his part to assist him then they would succeed more than they ever failed.
Well done Filth. I'm mentally clapping for you blue boy. Keep getting your aerial manuvers on que like that and you'll have all the greens after you. He told Filth as the blue tore into the wherry and feathers started to go everywhere.
This is good wherry. I should use that technique to catch them more often. Tender, juicy and not so tense from being caught by a dog. T'cat chuckled at Filth and just shook his head.
So you're not interested in catching the ladies attention?
Why should I be? With my skills I know I can catch them. He replied getting his face down into the wherry until he had blood all over his muzzle.
Now that's getting cocky. Keep up that state of mind you'll never catch another green again. And don't try to keep coning me out of practicing either. It didn't work the first time I told you about it nor the last few hundred times you tried it. You will be practicing even here in this new Weyr. Filth didn't answer T'cat but just gave a loud snort and went on with ripping meat off the wherries bones.

F'ina, satisfied with her inspection, got up and decided that perhaps she'd take advantage of the situation and leave while she had the chance. Perhaps they'd go for a quick and relaxing swim, oil Kimath so that she looked radient for when they had their all-important meeting, and then...well, she'd decide when the time came.
Kimath took to the skies to meet F'ina in their private weyr, her wingbeats strong and confident as she rose, then circled high above the weyr for a moment before doing a graceful dive to land on her personal ledge. F'ina watched this, partially admiring her young green's grace, and also with a practiced eye to make sure that all was in order in regards to making sure her ability was up to snuff. Satisfied once more, she began walking across the bowl, passing by where T'cat had taken up residence. Smirking, she said in a sort of passing comment, "It was nice to meet you and your dragon. Filth has talent, but only those Riders who lack confidence or ability feel the childish need to have their dragon show off for others. Perhaps that is something you should work on."
Where T'cat had centered his training on Filth, F'ina had centered it on being a team. After all, the Rider is nothing without the dragon, and the dragon without the Rider. They were an integral part of a whole, and the ability to work together was paramount in emergency situations. Why others felt such need to show off was beyond her, as she viewed your true skills only came to light when decisions and moves had to be made in a split second and not when you were sure others were watching.

Filth finished off his wherry as Kimath was heading out. He watched her in her flight until she had landed then he turned his gaze to T'cat. A graceful flyer she is. He commented his eyes whirling calmly.
T'cat agreed with him by giving him a slight nod as F'ina passed by. He couldn't help but chuckle at her words however he said nothing till she was gone. 'Whatever you say kiddo. Just keep thinking that and I'll see you next lesson and give you a bit of schooling." He said lowly before placing his gaze on Filth and standing up. Reaching into his pocket T'cat pulled out a rag and a very small bottle. "Come on Filth. Let's get your face cleaned up and added a little oil to your drying spots. Gonna have to go meet the Weyrwoman and our new assistant soon." He said.
Filth grumbled a bit but trodded over to T'cat meeting him half way. T'cat then used one end of the long rag to clean up Filth's face with a bit of scrubbing.

T'cat double checked his oil work on Filth to make sure he hadn't missed any drying patches. Having just oiled him the day before last most of the oil was still good and just needed the simple touch ups. Sure that he had every spot he gave Filth's shoulder a light pat.
"All done Filth." He said and could actually feel the dragon give a sigh of relief through his hand. He chuckled at it and patted him again. "The more coporative you are the faster it gets done. Now do you think that you might could tell me where the Weyrwoman is so I could go talk to her before the meeting?"
The shore with the former weyrwoman and their dragons. T'cat nodded at that and with one last pat and a scratch to an eye ridge T'cat started off with Yerd at his side. "Have fun sunning Filth." He said giving Filth the obivious hint that he didn't have to come if he didn't wish to.
Filth took the hint and leapt into the air, flying off towards the sunning areas.

Kimm walked down to the valley where a flock of wherries milled about uncertainly. A small green blur whizzed past and landed on her shoulder. She scratched the green's eye ridges affectionately.
"Good day, Rennet," she said. "Looking to share in your cousin's feast?"
The green chittered nonsense at her, and she laughed. She pushed her short blonde hair out of her eyes and looked up into the sky where a small blue dragon glided along. She smiled at the young dragon. Not even a Turn old, and he was already a very good flyer. He enjoyed it, and Kimm could hardly wait to be able to fly around anywhere she pleased, popping between back and forth to the Northern and Southern Continents respectively and all the Holds scattered around.
The blue dragon sped ahead of Kimm and dropped into the flock of wherries, deftly snagging one of the fiestier ones with his back claws. The flock scattered in a hurry, eager to get away from the dragon. He pierced the tender skin at the base of the wherry's neck and felt its body go limp. He beat his wings several times before gently dropping his drey on the ground and landing beside it.
Well done, Palenth. You've really worked hard for that.
Palenth snorted. I didn't have to work hard at all, thank you very much. It's natural.
Of course it is, dear heart.
Kimm smiled as she watched Palent begin to eat. Rennet went between appearing as a tiny blot near Palenth. Happily, the little green began to partake of his kill. Many other girls would have been sickened by the sight of so much blood and entrails scattered about on the grassy valley floor. Kimm was more worried about the blood on her dragon's muzzle and claws. It always took so long to wash off, and she used so much sweetsand it wasn't funny. Sometimes she had skimp when she used it herself. She was looking forward to the days when Palenth was fully grown and only needed feedings once or twice every week.
We'll get there. Don't worry.
Kimm smiled. I know, love. I just don't know how the Weyr can stand you now, nine months old already. It's hard enough for me.
Be nice. You can't get rid of me.
"I know," she said out loud. "And I'd never dream of it."
Palenth blinked his eyes happily and continued eating with Rennet.

((Going to just jump right in here.))
A shadow passed over the feeding grounds as M'gor began his desent of his bronze Cadeth. 'Easy friend, it's been a long flight and we both need to eat.'
The bronze snorted. I am hardly a hatchling any longer M'gor, I have just turned two turns old. I'm big enough for long flights.
M'gor shook his head. 'Sorry friend, I'm just worried.'
The pair landed then and M'gor quickly unstrapped his riding gear from the bronze and sent Cadeth to hunt. 'Don't eat to much friend.'
The bronze's only response was two words. I know.
