((This is an RP between me and Masa, please do not post without our permission)) The sun beat down on the Pridelands and in Kimba's eyes, everything was perfect. Everything was beautiful and peaceful and wonderful with the world around the young lion. And the male lay splayed over a smooth portion of rock as he lapped over his white paws. They where clean a moment ago and now they where dirty again! If mom were here she'd be fussing over him! She missed his mom, he wondered if everything was going alright for her.
He then stood up, stretching as his claws scraped the rock and he looked around the sun kissed lands. Yes...truly beautiful... He wondered if that honey coloured lioness was alright, it'd been a while since he'd seen her and she did have those awfully painful looking scars on her back. His brows furrowed under his mane as he thought of her and he let out a tired yawn.
Oh well...he thought. Maybe today would bring something around to cheer him up again. And besides, he could NEVER be sad for long...it just wasn't in his nature to be sad for a long period of time.

It had been a very long time since Malaika had had any time to herself. After all that had happened, the delicate female was surprised that she had even made it this far. And now that she had all the free time in the world to do as she wished, she just didn't know what to do with herself.
Sighing lightly, she carefully made her way up one of the many paths that led up and around Pride Rock. It occured to her that she hadn't visited Auri in a while, so she may as well pay him a visit. As she slowly walked along, a dark figure caught her eye, lay flat-out on a rock just off the path. At first she didn't recognise the male, and so she stopped to get a better look. It was then that she saw a pair of beautiful purple eyes, and she soon remembered who they belonged to.
"Kimba?" Even though she knew it was him, she could hardly recognise him because of how big he had gotten. They were both adolescents when they first met, and both had grown considerably.

As the male stood he noticed the honey coloured figure, small ears perking atop his huge cascade of fur called a mane at the sound of someone saying his name and he blinked curiously. It took him a few moments to realise that the lovely female infront of him was none other than his friend Malaika! A smile split his muzzle and he bounded happily over to her, his tail twitching back and forth happily as he stood there.
He had become larger and it was only when he stood next to her did he really notice his size. She as a little bit smaller than he was...huh...
"Malaika." He said happily. "How are you? It's been a long time!" His voice was cheerful, like they were the best of friends even though they had only met once!

"It has indeed." She replied softly, returning his smile as she did so. She hadn't smiled very much at all during their first and only meeting before this one. The smile she had once had as a cub though was slowly but surely returning to her, as things were starting to look a bit better lately. "Things have been looking up lately actually, thanks for asking..."
Still smiling, Malaika breifly glanced over the male and soon found her way back to those pretty purple eyes. There was no way she could ever have forgotten those. "And how have you been?"

The large male was more like a big cub than anything, a larger smile pasting his maw as he sat there and looked over her beautiful, gray teal eyes. She had very nice eye's, he had to say and he felt that he could look at them all day...but that would be rude. And so he just sat there and smiled.
"So..." He started awkwardly before he was asked a question and then smiled even more so. He was a very 'smiley' lion wasn't he?
"I've been fine! I'm learning to hunt and I can talk better than ever!"

"That's good." She said with a gentle laugh. "I'm not very good at hunting. I didn't really have enough time to learn properly." Her smile faltered a little as she said this, but she tried not to let it show. "I have a lot more time on my paws these days though. Maybe we could perfect our technique together?"
As soon as she said that, Malaika could feel her face go blood red. It was at times like this that she was thankful that her coat was dark enough to cover rosy cheeks. With a slightly forced chuckle, she shook her head. "I'm sorry, you probably have a family to look after." In her mind, a male as handsome as Kimba was bound to have a mate by now.

Her next choice of words, for lack of a better word, shocked him and he stepped back a little as he blinked at her. His muzzle frozen in a look of suprise and curiousity, a family? He'd never really thought of starting a family and just cocked his large, incredibly fluffy head to one side. Kimba then let out a small, good natured chuckle as he looked at his friend.
"Heh, well, actually I don't have a mate or any cubs yet." He said honestly, because...well he didn't. He didn't think himself as handsome or anything, he just thought himself as normal and he hadn't thought of trying to go and find a mate.
"Do you have a mate?" He asked softly, not as a proposal just a curious little every day question.

At Kimba's reply to her last comment, it was Malaika's turn to be shocked. How could he not have a family, or even a mate? It didn't make much sense to her at all, but again, she tried not to let it show. After all, it wasn't like it was a bad thing that he was single. Maybe he just hadn't found the right female yet. A handsome boy like that was bound to find someone eventually.
Much like Kimba had done, the golden female tilted her head slightly at the thought of her having a mate of her own. "I haven't really had the time to think about such things." She replied thoughtfully. "Although, I can't imagine what any male would see in me." Malaika had lost her confidence completely when her sister attacked her and scarred her for life, so she was being completely honest when she said that she didn't think any male would be attracted to her.

The male blinked before pouting, whichwould probably look quite amusing from any onlookers and such to see such a large, 'handsome' lion, pouting like a little child as he thought. How could she say there's nothing a male could see in her? There was a lot of things. And so, being Kimba, he thought he should voice those things.
"Well, you're beautiful and very kind...there...those are things a male would see in you and you can't deny that because...I'm a male and I can see them in you." He said, a big, goofy grin on his face as he sat there. Nothing but a sweet sincerity deep in his purple eyes that contrasted greatly with his dull, chocolate brown and white pelt. He was just being himself, completely innocent and truthful in the matter and not knowing how it would affect this lovely female.

Malaika let out a little laugh at seeing the face Kimba pulled when he was thinking. It was such a sweet expression. She didn't know what to think about what he said next though. "I..." She trailed off and lowered her head, not sure if she should believe the male or if she even wanted to. Mbaya had done more than damage her physically. In her own mind, she was made to feel worthless, and even her own father hadn't been able to stop her thinking that way. The only time she felt like she had a reason to be alive after all that was when she was looking after her younger siblings.
She shuddered and shook her head slightly before returning her gaze to Kimba. "Do you...really think I'd be worth...loving?" Her voice broke a little as tears threatened to destroy her composure. As much as she found it hard to believe him, she also found it hard not to believe him. With that big, goofy grin and soft, caring eyes, how could he possibly lie to her?

It's said that animals have a sixth sense when it comes to emotions, as the male saw the Malaika's eyes coming to the brim of tears, his brows furrowed slightly in worry for her and he padded closer to her. But at her question had finally gotten through to his brain before he gave a soft, sweet smile at her.
"Ofcourse." He said sweetly, now sitting beside her, his shoulder rubbing hers unintentionally as he looked into her teal gray eyes. However he had to wonder...what would make her think she wasn't worth loving? He finally licked over one of her cheeks, looking into her eyes.
"Why would you think you were anything else?"

As Kimba came to sit beside her, Malaika allowed her body to gently lean against his for support. "You're so kind." She whispered. She had never told anyone about what Mbaya had done to her. The only ones that knew was Mbaya herself, her good friend Auri and her father, who had come just a little too late.
Of course her younger siblings had asked about the scars on her back, and she always replied that it was an accident involving a thorn bush. Then she would just laugh it off. In reality, it was something she used to cry about every night, but life had forced her to become stronger.
"When I was younger, my sister Mbaya attacked me." She took in a deep breath and let it out before continuing. "She was the one who did this to me." Saying that, she motioned towards her back and let out a sad sigh. "The whole thing just made me feel worthless. Mbaya never thought I deserved to be treated the way I was by my parents...with love and adoration. And after she did attacked me, I believed her. I don't know why...but, maybe I really don't deserve to be loved."
As she said that, she leaned off Kimba and looked at him. She felt almost relieved that she had told someone about what had happened. Now she had to wait and see how he reacted.

The word 'shock' came to mind when you looked at this males face at the moment, his eyes were wide and his mouth was slightly agape as he looked at this female and then shook himself slightly. How...how could her own sister do this to her?... He looked at her scars and winced painfully, how could anyone do this to their own sibling? Kimba then looked at her and nuzzled against her softly, offering as much comfort as he could in this own social action.
"I'm sorry but...I beg to differ, everyone deserves to be loved...some less than others...and some even more than others." He started. "And it just sounds to me like she was jealous to the point where she'd take it out on her own sister...the fact is...I think you deserve to be loved."
He said, a small, serious look on his face while his eyes still held so much care and so much sweetness.

Malaika looked over the male carefully, looking for any sign that his words were merely said to comfort her, and that he didn't really mean them. She couldn't find any though, as Kimba was truely genuine. Even with that unusually serious expression on his face, his warm and loving nature shone through.
After a long pause, she let out a content sigh. She felt somewhat relieved, having told someone what had happened to her and seen that their reaction. Smiling gently, she leaned back into the male and nuzzled underneath his chin. "Thank you, Kimba."

Kimba's body became stock still, almost frozen before he realised he actually had to do something or he might have worried her and gave a nervous laugh at his actions and gently nuzzled her back. "You're welcome Malaika...y'know you can always talk to me...we are friends after all aren't we?"
This guy was just a big loveable dolt wasn't he? But even in his child like words, there was a sweetness to him as he smiled at the lovely lioness next to him.
