I love heart heart A.R Rehman's music heart heart ..and yeah he is my favorite music director.. he has transformed the way of composing music for the indian film industry..he always tries to bring new rythms/beats and new features into his music, trying to make music interresting.. his music ruled the south of india for like a decade (1992-2002) eek .. and it didn't take such a longtime for the bollywood to reconise his talent.. almost all the tamil movies that his music directed were dubbed into hindi..
Some of the movies I loved cause of his music :
Tamil
- Roja *his first movie* (dubbed in hindi eek ) - Padayappa - Kadhalan (dubbed in hindi) - Love Birds - Minsara Kanavu (dubbed in hindi: Kajol was in it) - Indian (remade in hindi with the same actors: Kamal hassan and Manisha Koirala) - Duet (dubbed in hindi) - Bombay (dubbed in hindi : manisha was in it) - Alaipayuthey (remade in hindi with Rani and Vivek Oberoi) - Khadalar Dhinam (remade in hindi with the same actors) - Uyire (dubbed in hindi : Shahrukh khan and Manisha Koirala) - Kaadal Desam (remade in hindi with the same actors) - Muthalvan (remade in hindi : Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee) - Taal ( dubbed in tamil : aishwarya, anil kappor and akshay khanna were in it)
And so much more..that just doesn't come to my senses right now..but some of the new movies that he composed for hindi movies r Rang De Basanti and Guru!
I just admire him for all the work that he has done and I admire him even more that he doesn't think its a big deal cause he wants to keep on doing what he loves best..and he is actualy quite good at it too mrgreen ..
I just could write like tons about this dude..and just for the sake of it.. he is one of the music directors who favorised the south indian singers to perform in the nothern film industry and vice versa..
My favorite singers in the north is Shankar Mahadevan/Kavitha Krishnamurthy..and in the south..S.P.Balasubaramaniam/Sujatha ( I know there r a lot of good new ones..but they still have that great voice!).

I completely agree with you! He is also one one of the very few music directors who were not scared to introduce new singers.. I like Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, S.P Balasubramaniam, K J Jesudas. Among women singers, I like Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthi, Sunidhi Chauhah, K.S. Chitra and ofcourse, Latha Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.

The AR Rahman concert was AWESOME!!!! He's a great entertainer, and the show was almost sold out I believe. People were on their feet dancing the entire time. People were dancing on the aisles and the ushers had a hard time controlling that. The show started out with songs from Roja and Bombay (his most popular songs), and then on to Dil Se and Taal. He did all the songs in Guru. There were of course other songs. I knew the songs, but was not sure which movies they're from. He sang a few Tamil songs which were very good. His drummer, Sivamani is great! He did a solo on about 10 or 12 drums that was awesome. The rapper, Blaaze also did a great job. Hariharan as usual was great. Sukhwinder was awesome. He sang several of his songs including Chaiyya Chaiyya from Dil Se. He added new twists and turns to that and it was a very long song, but still very enjoyable. The female singers were Chitra, Madhusree and Sadhana. Sadhana and Madhusree sang several songs, but Chitra sang only a couple of songs. If the concert is coming to your city I'd strongly recommend going for it. Its worth the money if you like AR Rahman songs.
