hey, i hate to sound pessemistic, but where is this guild? it's been weeks since i've seen a post or comment anywhere on this site. i joined the site because i wanted to see work other people were doing, and i wanted to see what people thought of my own work. yet, as i look around, it's like the whole guild just vanished, all at once, and i'm the only one still comeing back day after day to check the boards. i dont mean to complain, but did you all hit mass writers block at the same time? are you all on vacation from writing, hopeing for some cosmic build up creative energy before script-frenzy? i really dont know what's going on, and i'm looking for some sign that i'm not the only one still on this guildforum.

Hello, duello. You are right, of course.
Personally, I would like to apologise to everyone for my absence - I've been swamped with schoolwork and RL issues recently and just got an opportunity to check in with the guild. Being a mod, I am slightly ashamed of that. I'll do what I can not to be away for such long periods of time in the future.
But in any case, one person does not a community make.
This was meant to be a place for artists (or wannabes like myself xD) to hang out, swap ideas and learn from each other. Yet, if you pause to look at the members list, you'll see that out of the 30-whatever guild members only a handful has posted consistently, and if you browse through the subforums where the actual *insert art-form here* posting occurs, you'll find even less participants.
Both our captains and mods have tried to bring people into the guild (we've recruited, posted prompts, challenges, games, the lot) to little avail. As the saying goes, numbers do not necessarily mean quality - or in this case, active posting. The guild contest held in March did wonders to improve that, but then as soon as it ended, the posting frenzy (note the gross exageration here) lulled once again and, last we heard, it was headed for China. (Perhaps they're all waiting for the second contest in May?)
This guild needs more than people with works to post - that is important, but if one does nothing other than post story after story after story, no one will receive feedback and there won't be any enlightening debates or relaxing chats anywhere. This guild - and any artistic guild with a heartbeat, really - needs more than artists, it also needs spectators - people who are willing to share their opinions and comment on what others are doing. I'm sure you've all heard the old question: "does art even exist, when there is no one to see it?" And would you really feel accomplished if nothing you did had feedback?
So - to all who might be reading this - if you have any friends who you think would be active (not necessarily by sharing any works they might have, but their opinions as well)... invite them over! Or tell me their names and I'll extend them an official invitation. (I apologise to the captain if I'm overstepping any boundaries here, I know Sepik had a policy of handling that sort of thing personally. I'm not sure whether or not that still stands.)
Also, if you have any ideas of your own on how to revitalise this place, share them here. If millions of people tried to make something work by pulling in opposite directions, all their effort would amount to nothing, but if they pull together, maybe something will happen.
When I joined, I too had expectations about how this guild would turn out once everyone warmed up to the environment, and like duello, I feel they're far from having been met. So please, please, please with a cherry on top, de-lurk and post? Help keep this guild from withering away and dying?
(And now I'll let you all know you can sleep easy - I'm done with spouting philosophy and physics... for now. *cackles geekily* ^^)
Cheers! wink

I must agree with everything you both said. I even made a thread in the Chatterbox that I occasionally post in, and I believe that CharlaP posts in a lot. Sadly, every time I look for join requests, there are none. *Goes off to cry in a corner.* I'm sorry that I've been gone for a while. With the onset of summ,er my schedule's gotten a bit hectic, and I can no longer always come to invest the daily 30 mins-an hour that I used to. However, Aurah will try! ^_^
By the way, Cyn, I do not have the same policy as Sepik. If you or anyone else can get people in here (read here "participating members") by all means, do so. I had naievely assumed that once the guild got set up and established for a while, new people would trickle in and that at least 1/3 of the guild would participate. I didn't expect a lot, but still... How many of us really post here? Four?
It's really very depressing. If it continues for too long, I might just have to join the emo clan. Ah well, all we can do is try, right? I'd like to extend a big thanks to you two, Cyn and duello, and Rhiannon, even though she's not here right now, for helping me keep this poor little guild alive. Thank you! ^_^

*jumps up and down*
I'm here! Well, at least, I am now. Sorry that I've been AWOL lately. The real world interferes with my playtime sometimes. Plus, I've had lots of visitors and company since the beginning of May.

Ok, so, we have what, five of us on here? Three of which apologizing for being busy with other things. Frankly, I understand being busy, in the last week or so I’ve written less than 500 words because my brother is visiting from the navy and I’m taking a night course this month that is eating time. This is still an alarmingly low number of members. If I may I’d like to issue a challenge. Within the next week, everyone, please write or draw something. My works are at the top of four of our sub forums and as I said, I’m not writing that much lately. I think we'd have a better turn out for getting members who were active if we actually had a variety of work for them to view and read and look at. I visited a grammarian guild that had more poetry than we do. We need writing, and we need reading. We need drawing and viewing. It’s what this guild was made for, so let’s see it.

Indeed, BlueDazie, my book is not going so well either, but mine's the AP US History book. That teacher is a maniac! *Falls out of chair and twitches in a puddle of ink.*

ok, I think i'm back... sorry about the absence, I have been going insain for about the last month. it started with reading the illiad in six days, followed imediately by 7 greek tragedies in 3 days, followed by a week long pair of classical lit courses at dartmouth college. then coming home to verious personal life issues and an internet connection that generaly doesnt last for more than about ten minutes. but, hopefully i'm back, and i may have found a posible sorce to recruite some active members from.
oh, and Sgt., I did read your work. I rather liked it, but as I dont know much about memoir writting yet I opted not to comment. My one thought had been that it was rather short. But as I said, I dont know memoir, for all I know that could be normal.
