Looks like you beat me to this.
I'm a die hard POTC fan. So, that will affect my opinion greatly.
But, I do think the third movie was wonderful. Especially the last fight scene. It was intense. Although, I think Keira Knightly played such a erhm..player, in lack of better terms, in this movie. She kissed like, everyone for god's sake.
Oh well, it was still a good movie. But, Jack Sparrow, wasn't the same Jack Sparrow as he was in the first movie. He wasn't as witty and such.
Overall, it was quite an amusing movie, but not the greatest.

I thought it was archetypal and derivitive, I knew the whole plot of the movie as soon as I understood the parameters.

Ah, that's so negative sounding.
Well, in general, the movie didn't score to well anyways. 1 & 1/2 stars our of 5. That's pretty low.
I've heard that they're making a fourth movie. Which, by all means, is going to ruin the whole thing.
