Mercenary is another band I found recently listening to Music Choice TV. I really wish I had discovered these guys a while ago.
Mercenary is a Melodic Death Metal/Power Metal/Progressive Metal band from Denmark
In 1993, Mercenary released their first demo: Domicile and released another demo in 1994 entitled Gummizild. 1996 saw the release of their debut EP: Supremacy.
In 1998, they released their first album called First Breath. Four years later, Mercenary added vocalist Mikkel Sandager and released their second album: Everblack. Also in 2002, they were given a slot in the ProgPower Festival in the US which helped increase their fame and notoriety. Shortly afterward, they fired their drummer Rasmus Jacobsen and their guitarist, Signar Petersen quit as well. In their places Mercenary hired drummer Mike Park Nielson and guitarist Martin Buss Pedersen.
2004 saw the release of their third full length album: 11 Dreams, which has been their most successful album to date.
In 2006, original bassist and vocalist Henrik "Kral" Andersen left and was replaced by René Pedersen. In August of 2006, Mercenary released their latest album: The Hours That Remain. The Hours That Remain won the coveted "Album of The Year" at the Danish metal awards. This album also boasts more of a Progressive/Power Metal sound than their previous albums.
